Hillcrest Cemetery in Hamburg, NY
Your requests in this cemetery might be easily found with plot information...It is large but sections are clearly marked and smaller in size...give the office a call (716-649-8338) and edit in plot info....Carol

Daniel L. Dodge

I came across your two, very fine, memorials for Major Oliver Williams Dodge and his wife Elizabeth Latimer.

I am working on documenting the Dodge ancestry for a neighbor of mine who is a descendant of Pekuah Dodge (b. 1838 in Bradford Co., PA.) who I am convinced was a daughter of Daniel L. Dodge (b. 1814-1817 in Bradford Co., PA.).

I saw that this Daniel L. Dodge was recorded on the 1840 census of Bradford Co., PA., living next door to Oliver Dodge (son of Major Oliver W. Dodge) and that Major Oliver W. Dodge, and Nathan A. Dodge lived 4 and 2 households away from Daniel L. Dodge, on the 1840 census.

You appear to me to be very knowledgeable about the Dodge family. I'm curious to know if you are familiar with Daniel L. Dodge and if is was, as I suspect, a son of Major Oliver Williams Dodge.

I know that Daniel L. Dodge left Bradford Co., PA. in the mid 1840's and moved to Columbus, Franklin Co., OH. He was recorded there on the 1850 & 1860 & 1870 census and then was recorded on the 1880 census in Kalida, Putnam Co., OH., living 11 households from the aforementioned Pekuah (Dodge) Smith, wife of Jacob Gilbert Smith.

If you know of something which proves who was the father of this Daniel L. Dodge I'd be very interested in hearing from you. Best wishes/Kelly

RE: LaVerne Sweet, Oak Hill Cemetery, PA
Sorry I really can't tell you much, LaVerne was my 2nd cousin 2x removed. I think that his wife might be the Bender, but I have not found a record to that ... yet.

I'm new to this site, so I apologize. I haven't learned how it sets up yet.

I spoke to my mom, who is the true genealogist of the family (although I do help her with researching) and yes Cherick and Robert are related.

She also lives in NEPA, Bradford County. She would be able to help you more on the relationship line between the two.

Thanks for you reply!

Martha Grace Post Westbrook
Hello-I was looking at the children on your site and there is one missing. Leona Mae Westbrook Heath. She was born August 22, 1914 and still alive. I was wondering if you could add her to the list of children. Also, another daughter is not listed. Marchia Roberta Westbrook Reeve, born March 1928 and also still alive.

Leona is my grandmother and will be celebrating her 102nd birthday in August! Grace (what she went by) is my great grandmother and I was blessed to have her for 17 years of my life.

Thank you

Thank you and your husband.

Could you check this out? I found something in the descendent's index for an Oliver W Dodge will in Book 24 page 40 on familysearch. We would be willing to pay for the record. It would also be good to know if Oliver sold any land. His wife would have had to sign off on the sale. I have the page downloaded but I can't attach in this format. My email is

I can use before or after for dates. I have used the birth of the last child or remarriage of the husband. Do you have any documentation, like a death certificate with birth date for the last child of Elizabeth and Oliver? A copy of Oliver's will? We know she was alive when the last child was born. Do you have a date of his remarriage? I thought I had this application complete but know need an approximate date for her death.

Thanks so much for all your help.

I am working on Oliver's father who is a proven patriot. The older applications do not have enough information on Elizabeth by current standards. Your husband would be eligible for SAR on his service. Dianne

I am helping someone with a DAR application. Can you provide me with a source for the birth and death dates for her? The stone is not readable (at least by me) and I would love to have more info. Thanks so much for all you do.

I found a duplicate profile for him... 148142833
I left that guy a msg about it.

I found EW in the 1920 census and his name was listed as Wellington E.
Not that census takers were ever accurate in their name transcription! He was living with his sister Amy D and no one else in the household. Also looked at another census and found Jerusha's maiden name as Forrest, so more than 1 official document with her maiden name.

RE: Jerusha Mitchell
She does have one. LOL. I get so lost sometimes. Anyway, it's already posted on her page. her # - 157354842. And the photo of her is one I have of her. I see she has a sibling Erastus. So, will add him and see what there is to see for him!

RE: Jerusha Mitchell
Hey there! I don't have Jerusha and Erastus having a son Erastus. They have a grandson through Amy Mitchell. But with that being the maternal side of the family, I don't have hard copies to confirm or refute it. I wish I could help you with that! Here is what I found
I think they made a bad assumption of sex since I have multiple jerusha's and they're all female.
I you are related to the Mitchells, I have photos of later generations. Some were labeled, some weren't, but am willing to share them with you. I'll post the death certificate to Jerusha's profile. The daughter doesn't have a profile that I can find.

Yes. She's my greatx2 grandmother on my father's father's side. I only edit pedigree and their siblings w/ spouses. If I tried to do all of thwir kids too, OMG, hell to the no. LOL. Some day, I hope to photograph surrounding graves, but it'll be at least another year.

Are you?

I found her maiden name on her daughter Esther's death certificate. I still haven't found anything else.
