|Walter Guptill||John Burgess 82808208|
I am in the process of mapping and recording the information for two cemeteries in Owls Head, Maine, The Hall and MacPhail Cemeteries.
On find a grave there were three cemeteries listed for the same area, Hall, Head of Bay, and McPhail-Hix. Unfortunately, none of the names are correct and memorials were placed in the wrong cemetery.
Hall Cemetery, is locally known as Head Of The Bay, and Mcphail-Hix, is actually MacPhail, a/k/a Hix. I have had the names and locations updated and corrected by Find A Grave.
In doing so it was easiest to combine Hall with McPhail-Hix and then have the name changed. In doing that it resulted in 6 duplicate memorials, 3 of which Find A Grave editors combined. I am working on correcting the three remaining of which yours is one.
Your memorial for John Burgess has a duplicate, created by Kay Burgess, Memorial #150343856. While your memorial was created first, it was originally in the Hall Cemetery, which was incorrect.
I would like to have one of the memorials deleted, however, I'm not sure whose memorial takes precedence. Frankly, I like the photo's on yours much better, but the other memorial has more complete information.
Do you have any thoughts on how to proceed?
Thank you for your time and all the work you do on behalf of Find A Grave.
PS I was born and raised in Owls Head and coincidentally, my grandfather's name was John Burgess Guptill, as was his son, as is my son!

Sharon - You have a great photo on this memorial - but it is for a 68 year old. The William Maker on this memorial was only 18 years old.
Your photo should be on memorial # 83574398.

|Candace Manfredi||Matti P. Pulkkinen|
I believe Matti P. Pulkkinen bought my great grandfather, Charles Chester Davis' farm on Allen Hill Road between Oxford and Norway, Maine in 1921. The buildings on the farm burned down in 1930 and I know Matti Pulkkinen rebuilt them in 1931-1932. He and his family lived there until 1936. The Shappell's bought it in 1939. I am trying to find relatives of Matti Pulkkinen that I can correspond with to see if they have any information or pictures of the farm. Matti & Esther had four children and they may have all passed away by now but maybe their children would have information or pictures of when they lived on the farm. My great grand parents and my grandpa, Harry Davis, their only child have passed away also. I am into genealogy and would like to know more about the Davis farm which was called the Highland Farm when they bought it in 1900. Since your last name is Pulkkinen I thought just maybe your husband is related to Matti Pulkkinen. I would also like to find out where Esther is buried. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I live in the state of Washington and don't travel so I will probably never see where both sets of my grand parents were raised. My grand mother was raised on the Crystal Spring Farm there across the river from the Davis farm on Rout 26. I hope to hear from you. Any information would be a treasure to me. Thank you so much.

The edit I sent you with the birth date and location was from the Lynn, MA newspaper item printed 1/21/1972. He was probably the Samuel, son of Andrew and Mary, that was baptized on Nov. 8, 1747 (per vital records); but I'm not going to research further.

|Connie Lagasse Russell||Memorial# 82808268|
Hi...there are 2 other memorials for Clara Perry. I have contacted all three of the memorial creators. Kay Burgess is the creator of Memorial# 150343915 and great granddaughter of Clara Perry Burgess. She sent me the following message:
Two of them have the name of the cemetery wrong. The correct name for where my great-grandmother is buried is the McPhail-Hix Cemetery in Ingraham's Hill, Owls Head, Maine. It's where all of my father's immediate family is buried.
Could you please delete your Memorial# 82808268..thanks

I notice that Pictures of the tombstones of Captain Henry Johnson and his wife Caroline Johnson are not on find a grave. Is it possible to request a picture of those tombstones? I would be most appreciative.

I can't make out much on the stone. I am looking for Rachel Carter Elliot w/o Simon Elliot, born 12/20/1832. Is there any information you can make out that would confirm this is her?

The Ireland Cemetery has been really cleaned up since your photos for Joseph Annis & his wife were posted. I have added a photo of the two stones to illustrate the difference.
I would like to post all the cleaned up stones. Would you mind? If not, I will delete my photo for Joseph Annis and his wife.
