Melissa Stickles
RE: Grace Stickles
You are very welcome! We went on a genealogy vacation last July to visit the places this family (Stickle/Stickles) lived. I took over 4000 photos of headstones, the old Dutch Reformed churches that are mentioned in the old records, and places they lived, etc. I am still trying to get them all where they belong. It took me nearly 20 years to figure out how my 3rd gr-grandfather, Andrew Stickle, was related to these families. You had a request for a Frederick in the old Livingston cemetery...somehow I must of missed it. I probably took these photos before you requested them.

I seen that you left a flower on Johann Conradt Petre grave site. He was my 6th Great Grandfather and I am looking for any info on my family that you may have. Are you a relative? My email address is tamraparks1@gmail.com

Thanks

You are welcome. I found a John and his wife Julia Dikeman in the cemetery and created Find-A-Grave memorials for them. If they are your family I'll transfer them to you. JIM

RE: Cora Civils
I found legible headstones for four Civils in Mountainview Cemetery, but not of Cora. However, her husband who died about seven years earlier is buried there and there are no other memorials nearby. I would suspect that she is buried in the same plot. Oddly, one of the other Civils stones mentions the husband's name but there is no stone for him. I don't know if there are cemetery records showing Cora, or perhaps records of an undertaker. Sorry I can't do more searching - seems it would be interesting.

RE: Cora Civils
Not a problem for me. There are 15 or more such memorials in this cemetery that should not be there. I reported it as a problem, not found in a walk of the entire cemetery (which is quite small and ancient as you might see in the cemetery picture.) No need to send ne the death certificate - I've seen it and note that it was signed by a doctor from Altoona. If I find a marker or stone at Mountainview Cemetery I will post it and let you know in case you would still want a picture of it.

Cora Civils
I have to check further. In the meantime I recommend that you transfer her memorial to Mountainview Cemetery in Mill Creek. It was the only active cemetery in Mill Creek at the time of her death.

I suspect she is buried at Mountainview Cemetery. The records of that cemetery are incomplete but I will check them within a day or two.

The only other Wolfs I have found in St Paul's are Anna Wolfe, Harry Rey Wolf, Bess Gard Wolf, Cardit Wolf Ingebrigtsen and your William McCoy & Edith Wolf. I have photographed about 2/3 of the cemetery and have done the rows around William & Edith.

Thomas Van Tassel
RE: Catherine Bortle
I have John Van Tassel as having died in 1827. I got that from Daniel Van Tassel's Genealogy of the Van Tassel Family. I think the original entry on Find-a-Grave is from a transcription of the cemetery names by Minnie Cohen in 1939 where she notes that the date may be incorrect. All I know is that the headstone is very old and worn and virtually impossible to read. I was actually going back and forth about posting the the picture but John is my great great great grandfather and maybe I gave in a little because of that. You can kind of make out Van Tassel and the stone is just to the right of Catherine's. Let me know what you think.

Sad. I hate when a stone is no longer around.

Thanks for being understanding. I feel so sad that this very old cemetery is not in better shape.

RICHARDSON in Onalaska, WI
I noticed that you put flowers on many of the Richardson's memorial in the Onalaska Cemetery. Are you related? I'd be happy to transfer them to you - otherwise I'll be transferring them to the La Crosse Area Genealogical Society.

I did photograph all of the headstones and all sides for any Snyder family members in the plot. I do have another side of that same stone with her parents listed. If you want that added, let me know. Be glad to add it.

Rosemary - unfortunately I don't know anything further - I'm just entering data for Oakwood Cemetery (Syracuse NY) and came across them. And then I thought to try to find their parents (not sure what made me do that) - but then I found your memorials - so I was very happy! I always like it when I find parents to children - no matter how old the children are!!! If I come across any of your people, I'll let you know. I checked all of Oakwood, and they are not there....

Patrick Arthur Teater Sr.
"Catharine Hedges" in Gallatin Cemetery
I found a headstone for "Catharine" except the name on the stone says Elizabeth? Not sure why the error, but it is definitely the correct person as the DOD is the same and the husband is Daniel Hedges.

No,I haven't found a Hitchcock tomb. It was a bad joke loosely based on the Grant's tomb joke!

RE: Hitchcocks
Hi Rosemary,

You're welcome as always.

I may have found a new Hitchcock. Or not. The Hale Collection entry recorded by Jan Franco lists Aaron A. Hitchcock with a date of death of 2 Jul 1852 at age 66. I uploaded a photo of that stone yesterday.

I noticed yesterday that I also uploaded a photo of another stone for Aaron A. Hitchcock with a date of death of 22 Jul 1852 at age 66. Go figure. I created a separate entry for that one.

Who's buried in Hitchcock's tomb?

Regards,
Joe Matocha
