Mary (Ruff) Erb memorial # 59120456
Hi Dave,

Regarding your suggested edits for Mary, I have decided to accept 1 of the 3, but decline the other 2, and here is why:

I accepted your suggestion of her parents being Johann Martin & Jacobina (Huttner) Ruff. They are, in fact, buried in the same cemetery as Mary, albeit in different areas, and the dates certainly are within reason. Also, I did find a marriage record from their county dated March 31, 1875, in which "Marria Ruff" married John Phillip Erb, again the dates being within reason. That is enough to convince me.

However, as far as your suggestion of her birth & death dates... I have to decline. I'm assuming you got those dates from an Ohio death certificate for Mary Erb that died in Cleveland, Ohio, on February 9, 1912. The problem is that it clearly names her father as being "Henry Hahn", not Johann Martin Ruff, and her place of burial being "East Cleveland", and not Brucklacher Cemetery in Marion County, Ohio.

As for your last suggestion of her name being Maria Magdalene "Mary" Ruff, I will decline it but I will edit her name to Maria "Mary" Ruff until I find proof of her full name.

None-the-less, thank you for the link to her parents. Until now, I had absolutely no information about her beyond a name and a place of burial.

Respectfully,
Dennis.

Ruff family
Hi Dave!

I am curious what your relationship is to the Ruff family. My great-grandmother was Gladys (Ruff) Hurst, daughter of Arthur and granddaughter of William.

Best,
Megan

RE: Emamuel Ruff
Dave,

Please don't ever hesitate to point out something--big or small--that needs to be changed or corrected in any of my memorials. My only concern is presenting information that is as accurate as possible.

Thanks again for your help!

Lynn

Emanuel Ruff
Hi Dave,

I worked on Emanuel and Elizabeth Ruff for a long time this evening. I have come to the conclusion that you are absolutely right about his date of birth. Amazing that both the stone and his Missouri death certificate are both off by such a significant number of years.

I have up-dated the Ruff memorials and added an explanation for the change of dates.

I really appreciate your help and expertise. I'm glad to be able to make this a little more clear for others who might be interested.

Thanks again,
Lynn

James Monroe Hunt information
I have James Monroe Hunt, born 11 Jan 1815 in Hopkinton, NH in my family tree. He is not the James M. Hunt who died in 1898 in Emmet County, Michigan and who's stone you have pictured on Find A grave. I found your James M. Hunt's death certificate on the Michigan Death Records site on Ancestry.com. It lists his mother as Nancy Lord. James Monroe Hunt's mother was Elizabeth Bailey Emerson Hunt. It is believed that he died between 1870 and 1875.

I apologize for correcting you but other people are
adding your information to their family trees in error.

If you want to email me, I will sent you a copy of the death certificate.
