Hardcastle Cemetery, TN
Hi Kelly,

I was reviewing some of my photo requests, looking for clues & I noticed your detailed memorials for Hardcastle Cemetery. I wondered if you had ever been out to the cemetery? I do see info on a marker for Granison Hardcastle in your notes from the Jackson County cemetery book & I wondered if there might be a mention of other markers as well. My 3x great grandparents Isaac & Polly Williams are buried there with an infant grandson.

Thanks so much for any help or suggestions,

Brenda :)

There were several William Pearson born around the same time. See our Williams Find A Grave for an explanation.

I don't have any evidence as to Jonathan Norman's middle name being Charles unfortunately.

Bette Keene Scavone
Mary Jane Northcutt
I was just taking her name off the headstone. Could she be MARTHA, but went by Mary? Hesitate to change
anything, but could add a footnote. Bette

I am hoping you can help me with a few questions. I see that you added this memorial for Elizabeth Hardcastle Wilson and I was wondering if you had any more info regarding her parents or other relatives since I see you have Hardcastles in your line. Also wondering if you had any info on her husband James Wilson or where he is buried? Elizabeth's daughter Ann Wilson Gosney #142105646 and her husband David Gosney #142105664 are my GGGGrandparents, so of course Elizabeth is my GGGGGrandmother. There are a few headstones surviving in the Parker Cemetery but they are NOT on the graves as a previous owner of that land which is private property was Not a good steward... I'm going to try to take some decent (hopefully legible) pics of what I can find in the near future. Thanks for your time.

J. Paul Hawthorne
Joshua Hawthorn - Belleville, AL
Hi, thanks for the question as to where Joshua Hawthorn (1776-1836) is buried. He is buried at the Belleville Baptist Church Cemetery, Belleville, Conecuh, Alabama. The one I manage (#31568834) is correct. The other one managed by M'Lady (#20890910) is not correct. They were not Methodists, they were big time Baptists. I have been to the cemetery where my 5th. great-uncle and my cousins are buried and have many photos. I'll see if I can contact M'Lady and see if she will delete hers. I'm not sure about merging.

RE: Headley
Yeah. Since they had similar names and affiliations, I'm super cautious about entering burials based on the DCs. Seeing the little tiny graveyard all overgrown made me sad. They're the women of Philadelphia :(

I came across her DC before but was hesitant on adding it fearing that it meant actual CC. I pulled it up again and agree with you. I'll be heading back there in the spring and will try to find her stone, if available.

RE: Headley
It wasn't really a hospital. More like a place where indigent women were dumped by their families. Like a nursing home, pretty much. Just a little back story.

Headley @ Kearsley
You may want to double check that she's actually buried there and not at Christ Church Burial Ground.

Thanks for the correction. I have his date correct in my database. I think that info came from a Bishop Family Bible. I just entered the date incorrectly on the Findagrave.

RE: Benjamin Drake
Thank you for pointing out this problem. I think I've fixed it. If additional changes are needed please let me know. Fitzimmons Cemetery is one of several historic cemeteries in Elizabethton. None of them are in great shape but this one is the worst. Access is restricted and City Government doesn't show much interest in fixing the problem. Bill Hicks managed to get a detail from Carter County Jail to clean it up last summer but that's not a long term fix. In addition to Benjamin Drake Col. Daniel Stover, Andrew Johnson's son in law, who died during the Civil war is buried there.

The area of the Carroll graves would be Hamlin Cemetery. Their monument has fallen over. Husband and wife names on adjacent sides.
