I was in error on my first post. Sarah Fuller Lanning was my mother-in-law's great great grandmother. If I knew how to delete the first post, I would!

Ah! gotcha - thanks for the quick reply -- I am trying to find a FEMALE in the direct to Lucinda Skinner. I'm sure there has to be one living. My goal is ask one to submit to a mtDNA test. I feel pretty certain that my 3x great grandmother and Lucinda were sisters - and this test would prove it. If you can help me find the living female to contact that would be great - I have reached out to several others on Ancestry who have her in their trees - but no reply yet. My email address is firstname.lastname@example.org Much thanks - Bob

I have been doing some more reading - from various posts -- am I correct in understanding that you are of a direct FEMALE line of descendants as Lucinda Skinner Martin. Meaning your mother's mother's mother, etc. goes back to Lucinda?

|Bob Jones||Lucinda Martin|
You state on the memorial you created for Lucinda Martin that her father was Thomas Skinner -- where did you obtain that information? To my knowledge her father was Phineas Skinner. Thank you.

I've transferred him to your care. I don't really care about the rules, and I'd much rather have a friend take care of the memorial than someone who has no connection to them. Some friends are better than family anyway.
Just so you know in the future, it is possible to send a huge amount of information through the edit tab, if you select Suggest any another correction or addition. I've sent lots of information this way to others without any trouble. It goes through as an e-mail, so it's not a problem. It's also much easier if you ask for transfers using that option, because it sends a link to the memorial, and a link to you, right to the person that has the memorial.
Take care, Bailey

I just noticed I said Albert was the youngest but he was the oldest. Sorry.
Added by EllieLeeE on Dec 18, 2016 10:40 AM
Corah and Sallie married in Fulton County, 10/27/1895. They had three children. Albert was the youngest b. 15 Mar 1896 d. 06 Oct 1969 in Dekalb County, Della Estelle b 27 Sep 1897 d. 25 Aug 1930 and Ellen Inez b 01 June 1899 d. 10 Sept 1926.
There are also entries in the Atlanta City Directory of 1889 of a Corah Westmoreland boarding at 18 Boulevard and working at the Fulton Cotton Mills. In 1890 another entry has him at baording at 11 Howell and working at Elsas, May & Co.
Family legend, i.e. no authentication, that Corah was from England and born there. This from my mother from her grandmother Sallie Peek Westmorland. Also, when she was pregnant with Inez, Corah left with his cousin to find out about a job in Alabama and he never returned. She was told that he was killed by his cousin. No one ever found out what happened. Sallie waited seven years, had him declared legally deceased and remarried.
The only other thing I have about Corah is a middle initial of P. I will have to go back through my notes to see if I can find out where I found the middle initial.
Uncle Albert married Annie Sophronia (Sophie) Patillo and they had two girls: Dorothy Westmoreland m. Ralph Franklin Haile and Norma Westmoreland m. George Hendon.

Very little is known about the Corah Westmoreland who was my great grandfather.
I found the marriage record where he married by g.grandmother Sallie Estelle Peek in Atlanta, GA. The 1870 Census for Forsyth county has a "Corry" Westmoreland, age 2 with brother Thomas age 10 and a female Westmoreland age 26 (first name looks like Lenny?? presumably their mother) living with what may be her parents, Jesse Edwards age 69, a farmer and Millie Edwards age 66, his wife. Jesse, Millie and Lenny or Lessy are all shown as being born in S.C.
Both boys are shown as being born in Georgia.
The next thing I found was in 1880 a Cora Westmoreland, age 13, Male "Orphan" working on the farm of William Rice and his wife Frances and their two children.
Sallie and Corah had three children:
Della Estelle Westmoreland,
Ellen Inez Westmoreland
I have some additional information that I will give you later today. It is 1:51 AM and I need to go to bed.

|lgbarnett||Heny L. Hirst - info about his wives & children|
Henry L. Hirst was my gg-grandfather & his son, Edwin A. Hirst, was my g-grandfather. I remember Edwin (he died when I was almost 7), as we lived on the neighboring farm. I have information that should answer all your questions about Henry, his wives, & children. The information would be much clearer if I sent you a file email attachment, as it is somewhat complicated. If you do not want to use this method, I will attempt to post it as a public message.

P.S. ...I also have this group of Westmorelands on another branch of my tree in addition to Henry's wife.

My mother, Jo Ann, was a Westmoreland.
Her father was Biddie Lee Westmoreland, his father was Thomas Loyd. My grandfather's sister, Brida Belle married Edwin Gail Hirst. Edwin's mother was Rosa Leota Westmoreland who is Brida's aunt. They kept it in the family HAHA.
I have a tree on ancestry. com, "The Lee E. Witt Family". If you have access to ancestry feel free to look over my tree.

|Lee Witt||Rosa Leota Westmoreland|
1900, 1910, 1920 and 1940 US census all show the birth location for Rosa to be Texas, not Arkansas. Rosa is my Great Grandaunt from my mothers side of the Westmoreland family. I can't remember where I got the information but I'm showing that she was born in Comanche, Comanche County, Texas.

It is not Edwin's son, but his brother. Their parents, Henry and Mary had eleven children per census records. Edwin was #5, Albert was #10.

I have been trying to locate a brother of Edwin. It's Albert Sidney approx 1885-1918. I was backing tracking his wife and children. In another source he was listed in Find A Grave as being buried in Oliver Springs cemetery in Comanche Co. Tx, but that entry has been deleted. I have several children and his wife I would like to tie him to. Do you know anything about him?
