Chris, Thank you so much for adding the list of those buried in this cemetery. Elizabeth Betsy Tatum O'Banion Passmore is my great-grandfathers mother. (Jesse Lee O'Banion)
Did you visit this cemetery? I am pretty sure that the Passmores do not have a personal tombstone. I was told that this cemetery overlooked a wagon trail that the Passmores traveled often. It is probably on a bluff!
I have a photo of Elizabeth that I will add to her memorial.

|Toni Turk||Preston Ford Southern|
In the early 1970s I interviewed Miss Addie Mitchell in Idalou, Texas. She was the daughter of Susan Southern the daughter of Preston Ford Southern. She had inherited all of Preston's personal papers, including his Bible, and an 1856-dated dictionary in which he had recorded his family record. She gave me all of his papers, pictures and books. In return I gave her a pedigree chart that was my then current hypothesis of Preston's ancestry, which was that he "was the son of John Southern and Nancy Forrister and John was the son of Boaz Southern and Cherokee." I am assuming that at some point this chart found its way into your family and was attributed to "written from her Mother's (Martha Jane Lowe) bible which was copied from her mother's (Mary Southern) bible." However the attribution is wrong. It was entirely my conjecture.
I have begun a narrative at the record of Preston Ford Southern in Family Search that I will greatly expand with additional details when I return home from a road trip on May 26th. The beginning of that narrative has also been appended to the Find A Grave profile. Thanks!

Thank you so very much for transferring the memorials to me. It does make it easier to update everyone's bio.
Your understanding is so appreciated!

I have received your comments regarding Preston Ford Southern's parents. I suspect that the origin of your data regarding his parentage is very dated, and probably more a consequence of my early work than being "copied" from the Mary Southern Bible. The construct that you reference is what I tried to put together, and it just doesn't work. The construct at Find A Grave is informed by more recent scholarship, including YDNA testing. There has been a persistent deeply believed view that there is an Indian heritage in this line. This is refuted by YDNA on this line. I have been doing this for 56 years and have hired professional researchers in both Tennessee and North Carolina trying to crack this nut. If you'd like to discuss this, please call me at (435) 678-2428. My email is email@example.com. Thanks! - Toni

I just went to her site and tried again to submit an edit. I got it typed in and them got the Catcha something or other. It makes you mark a bunch of stuff and then you still can't submit. What a pain in the ????? Have you seen that thing before?

Regarding your email on Josie and the duplication. I went to the site 7874544 to contact Betty from OR. Evidently, she is deceased and I was unable to confer. I don't know what to do. Mine is in the right cemetery, I am sure. My husband know Josie's husband, Riley. Any suggestions? What would happen if I moved all the information from the old one to the new one and then have the one in the wrong cemetery deleted if I could? I know this is not kosher but not real sure what to do.

I am very familiar with this Estate Record. Which of his children do you descend from? I descend from Malcolm.
There is a FB group I have created where several of us keep in touch and post our 'theories' about his parentage and share any research findings or family stories with one another. I'd love to have you join.
Just search FB for Descendants of Maize R. Foster
We'd love to welcome you to the "family"

Are you a descendant?

The placement of Lichtenfels, Bavaria (Bayern), Germany as Daniel's birth place was sent to me as an edit by another F-A-G member. I have changed it to only Bavaria as the choices given for the township do not include Burgkunstadt.

Regarding Gary Herman JONES who is buried here. The transcription of the headstone is inaccurate. He was the son of Robert Thomas Jones and Azza Lena (Kimbrow) Jones. The actual inscription reads Gary Herman son of R T and A L JONES. Gary Herman was my dad's oldest brother. If you would like I can send you a close up picture of the headstone that I took in Nov 2010. He was the grandson of Wiley Sumner Jones and Rachel (Cheney) Jones - both of whom are also buried here. I noticed in a reply to another member, you mentioned that you were going to make an attempt to locate Jones Cemetery and photograph the headstones there. I was wondering if have had a chance to do so? I have lived within a few miles of the cemetery for over 30 years. I have driven CR 807, but have had little luck in locating it.
I have just recently got a pretty good lead on where it may be located. My dad built house some 20 years ago on CR 704D (a dead end road that runs off of CR 807) and remembers a guy taking showing him a cemetery near there. If you go to Bing Maps and pull up a 'birds eye view' of of CR 704D, take note of the first driveway on the left as your proceeding up 704D from 807. There are some buildings (perhaps a house) at the end of the driveway. Just beyond that house lies a area that appears to have a fence around it. My dad is pretty sure that's the cemetery as best he can remember.
I would love to be able to locate this cemetery and photograph the headstones there if it's at all possible.
These old cemeteries fascinate me. They are filled with so much history and are usually the last remaining bit of evidence of those that lived in the area long ago.

Would you transfer Melvin Albright as he is my father.
Added by JLW12 on Aug 05, 2012 11:28 AM
Transfer has been made.
The Jones in our family came from Mississippi to Detroit, Texas. This is in Red River County just east of Paris, Texas. George Dennis Jones and Georgia Ann Jones would have been my great-grandparents on my father's side. I'm told they are buried in Bluff Cemetery just north of Detroit. I've searched that cemetery but did not find their graves. All I've been able to find past George Dennis and Georgia Ann is George's fathers name was Manual. The trail ends there.

Chris, Samuel is listed among the Confederate soldiers in Runnels County. We are trying to get a list of those who served in order to try to get headstones for them. Would you like to help out? It is best that a relative orders but we were told that cemetery personal can also apply. I have his information and the link that has the applications. Very easy process actually. Sandra

WOW! Thank you for the additional information and all the links that put this family together. I have made them and appreciate you sending all this information. I will try to get out this week and post marker pictures to all their memorials that do not have them already.

Good work on the duplicate. Some records as Mrs Allison's were taken off old caretaker records. Sometimes he would write who paid for the lot/funeral instead of the person being buried. Made it very difficult to figure out who was actually being buried. i looked for a Mrs Allison's death certificate but to no avail. Now we know why. I am deleting that memorail. And btw, you are NOT being a pest!!
