Oops, I see that I did answer your question back in September! Hope that it helped.

Amos Plott's second wife, Sara
Sorry to be late in answering your question about Sara Plott. (Haven't been on Find A Grave recently) My source for her last name before marriage was the book "Annals of Haywood County," by W. C. Allen, 1935 -- p. 580. Only the last name of Darighty is given for Sara, with the info that there were no children from this marriage with Amos Plott.

Effie Corey obit and correction
I did make the changes based on the article. I think in this case a newspaper is more credible than the date on a stone. I know some stones are made even years past the death, and errors happen. I'll credit the source in the bio. Thanks!

I made the changes you suggested. I am not a relative and would transfer his memorial to you if you want.

#73094572 Sarah Plott
Hi, and thanks for your message.

Looking back at the main source for Amos's marriage to Sarah, it is in an old book, "Annals of Haywood County," by W.C. Allen, published 1935, p. 580.

The above passage states, "Amos Plott, the fifth son of Henry Plott and grandson of Johannes, was married twice, first to Frances Gambel of Black Mountain, and second to Sara Darighty. There were no heirs from the second marriage."

The gravestone for Sara in Dellwood Cemetery records reads, "Sarah, wife of Amos Plott, December 22, 1802 - August 23, 1895

I cannot now find the source that I used for a maiden name of Turner for Sara, so I have taken that name out of the Find A Grave memorial. If you would like that memorial transferred to you, I would be happy to do so.

Thank you so much. You're correct. She would've died before her wedding date.
Great work. Thanks again.

RE: Nelson Sparks gravemaker photo
You're quite welcome! My grandmother was Minta Sparks, daughter of John Elliott Sparks. John Elliott Sparks was a son of Nelson & Margaret's. They are not buried in the Mauk cemetery on Open Fork as described in the find a grave listing. They are in the Mauk cemetery off 504 right past what was the Mauk School. It is on private property. You have to go through two farm gates to access this cemetery.

RE: Russell Cemetery in Breathitt Co, KY
Sorry, I do not have any info. I cataloged the Shelton Russell Cemetery where she is buried, because I have some extended family ancestors who are buried there. I don't have any info on the Gambill family. I am a descendant of the Fugate, Carpenter, Ritchie, and Stacy lines.

It would be good to write up information on their military service by going to the edit tabs and contacting the custodian with this information. Dates served, unit served with, rank, etc. The 1890 Veterans Census can be of great interest.

Also, where married and when married is important. Lists of children can be very valuable.

Sorry, to bother you again

I added more information to the image that you wondered about. Please, click on it to see the additions. I also added several additions and correction to their memorials. Including, some connections. They may not show up for days. Unless, the custodian is available to make the changes right away.

Again, I am requesting, with hope, that you would go ahead and make any connects you are able to for parents as well as children. What a wonderful thing for you to undertake.

Remember, Find A Grave uses their numbering system that is unique for each person's memorial.

If their are people you can't find in the Find A Grave system. Find A Grave provides for this occurrence by letting you create memorials that are not connected to cemeteries. Still allowing you to enter all the information. Later if their memorial is found it is easy to shift the memorial to a known cemetery.

So long, Martin Burrell

Please, connect Ralph W. Holbrook with his parent's and his children through Find A Grave. Please use the Edit Tab. It is 'free' to be a member. You have to be in order to make/request any changes.

Did you know that Find A Grave has it setup now where changes you request automatically go threw after so many days. No one needs to do a thing. that includes name changes, dates, places, plots, etc.

It is a great method to make corrections.

Best Wishes, martin Burrell

RE: Memorial# 68417779

You can copy any of my posting, or, photos. If it is my 'photo' them my name goes with it.

Just remember that you are required by Law to keep the source information with printed material. It is a must do sort of thing. The plagiarism laws require it. This prevents you from taking credit for another's work. Example: you copy the written word, music, photo and use it without sourcing it back to original source.

Be very careful to credit another's images. Newspaper images don't belong to the person that copied it. They are credited to their source name of newspaper, date of printing, page number and published location.

Best wishes, Martin Burrell

Soloman Sparks
I noticed you left a memorial on the grave of Soloman Sparks back in August 2015. He is my 4x great grandfather of which I know nothing about. I just started searching the Sparks name and was hoping we could compare notes and maybe fill in some gaps.

Scherel Fisher
John Randolph Gambill descendant
I am J. R. Gambills granddaughter, Scherel Fisher. I am trying to find contact info for Marie Sihlis. She had visited our home a few times and I remember meeting her. But when my father died in 2012, I tried to contact the Canadian family with the last email I had. It didn't work. I would like to be able to stay in contact. Also, what are you basing that you are related to John Gambill Sr. on? I have been trying to find records to show which John Gambill was J.J. Gambill's father and I am not finding any records to back up what so many people have put in their geneologies on

"Hi - I think the marker on this memorial page belongs to Margaret (or Margret) PRUITT Sparks, the wife of Reuben Sparks. There has been another memorial created for a Margaret Sparks in the West Union cemetery with a death date of August 2nd, 1902."

I concur with your findings. I have posted a photo of the marker to the other memorial and have deleted the one I created. Thanks for helping eliminate the duplication.

Thanks for the message. The Sparks Quarterly is not a source that the DAR will take for proof of parentage for John Wesley Sparks. Looking fro a will of George that will list his children or something of Levi that will give names of his brothers. Thanks.

I also connect to the Boggs and Lyon lines.
