RE: Thank you
I went back to New Elam Christian Church and was able to see that the grave stone was for Charles A. Mann Dec 28-1903 to Sept 6, 1912 son of D A and Ellie Mann...It was not alvin....My wife and I walked the entire Cemetary and could not locate Alvins marker...
Charles' marker is really worn from the wind and rain

I WENT TO NEW ELAM CHRISTIAN CHURCH CEMETARY AND LOCATED Stephen Mann's grave marker...however it is weather beaten and mostly 95% un readable...I took a photo of the grave marker from a couple feet away to show where it is in the cemetary if you still want that.....

I've never known of a cemetery not allowing photos of headstones to be taken! Thanks for trying....

Marler Family grave memorials
I am grateful to you for taking the photos of The Marler Family gravestones at Yadkinville Cemetery.

It is thanks to individuals like you, Crystal; who volunteer their time to bring families closer together, even if it is only through photographs of their final resting place. This will help future generations to know a little more about their ancestors.

many thanks,
George Gaston

Report of Problem

Thanks for letting me know about the problem you encountered with this cemetery. I'll give them a call and see what might be able to be done to allow a photograph to be taken.

RE: Thank you
You're quite welcome. I'm glad that we were able to help. We're planning a trip back in the Fall when it is a bit cooler to try and catch some of the other's we missed. It was almost 100 on Saturday! Sadly some of the stones are so eroded that we couldn't read them. ;-( But we're game to try again in a few months when we can take longer to note them all.

RE: Ann Degraff
I'm so glad I could find her headstone, the records were wrong on the section so we had to hit the old hand written books to find it. That was so much fun... no really it was fun to see to actual records. The rain held off just long enough for me to get out there. Guess it was meant to be. You are so welcome.

RE: Ora Snowden Bartell
It was a pleasure to do this for you. I knew "Miss" Ora Lee when I was growing up in Hemingway and took care of Mr. Bartell when she was married to him. I was one of his home health nurses. It was so nice to see her after I had grown up. Nancy

RE: Looking for Esch grave sites
Hi, Crystal -- I'll definitely be on the lookout for the name Esch in Mississippi. I don't know much about the Osyka area (had to look it up when I saw your message to remember where it was). I'm sure I'll be in Pike County again at some point and will watch for Esch graves. I'll also stay alert for them elsewhere.

In addition to the photos you were wanting, I also took photo of Robert M. Speir, Elizabeth Reid Speir & Mary Speir. To the right of Mary Speir there are 2 old stones 1 says Mother & 1 says Father but there is nothing else engraved on them. Prairie Lawn Cemetery has been updating. They do now have all the sections marked good.

RE: Map of the cemetery Looking for section F
Prairie View in Peabody is not terribly big and the sections are marked. You might contact Carmen South @ If there is a map, she would know. Pleasant View in Butler county is a very small cemetery. I am sure there is not a map, but you would not need one. The others, I cannot help you with. Sorry. Vivian
