Correction for Edwin's Memorial
In my last requested corrections, Edwin's mother was listed as his spouse. His memorial # 117553784 and his mother, Jane # 117553394. Please correct this to list her as Mom, and not as his spouse, as I listed her in the wrong box on relationships.
Thank you, John.

Robert Ray - Waterloo cemetary damaged military grave
Mr. Rucker

I have information on a damaged grave at the Waterloo cemetery in Mississippi. The grave belongs to a Robert Ray.

# 82302344
Waterloo Cemetery
Jefferson County
Mississippi, USA

According to a written affidavit, the grave was identified by Robert Dudde on 8-17-1941 in response to a request by a Mrs Comfort. See link- https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:33SQ-GP3S-KH9?i=34&wc=9B4C-ZV3%3A211900201%2C212085201%3Fcc%3D1919687&cc=1919687

The nps.gov site shows only one black navy Union soldier from the state of Mississippi. Born in Marion, the soldier served on the vessel 'Louisville' from Sep 30 1863 to Dec 31 1864.

Best Regards,

J.P.

Do you have any more information on Elizabeth Scott wife of James Scott late of South Carolina. I think she may be in my direct line but I need to know some dates for her. I would be connected through the Scott line. You say part of the stone was buried but I hoped you might have found some dates on it. I know I am grasping for a straw but thanks anyway.

Patty Ward
Church Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery
P.S.
I failed to mention a few other relatives of mine in this cemetery.
Walter Ander Gill was the younger brother of my grandmother, Deba Gill Pickering, and his wife was Lillian Whittington Gill, and 3 of his infant children are buried here: Betty L, James C, and Joel David Gill.
James Edgar Montgomery was the infant son of Mamie Pickering Montgomery (still living), a daughter of Frank and Deba Pickering, and her husband, Samuel L. Montgomery, Jr. (also still very much alive).
Now I think that I have explained the relationships of all 24 of my relatives buried in the Church Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery.

24 of the 35 graves in this cemetery are my family members. Thank you for taking the time to add this cemetery to this site. I have asked online for various edits, mostly to show familial relationships, but those edits seem to be held up. The Pickering patriarch and matriarch, Frank Edgar and Deba Gill Pickering, had 12 children, with Lucy dying in childhood in 1945 and the other 11 living to adulthood. Lucy died prior to the building of this church, and was buried at Christ Episcopal Church Cemetery, also in Church Hill. Now 9 of the children are deceased, including my mother, Annie Dora Pickering Collins, who was cremated, but we did install a marker in the cemetery next to my father, Harvey Houston Collins, Jr., and my sister, Maria Louisa Collins Stevens, and her infant daughter, Annie Elaine Springs. Charles Ray Pickering and Virginia Estelle Pickering Bissell were cremated, and do not have memorial markers anywhere that I know of.
The other children of Frank and Deba who are buried here are:
Myrtice Marie Pickering Young and her husband, Ira James Young, and their son, James S. Young.
Arthur Frank Pickering and his wife, Barbara Hornbrook Pickering.
Frances Loret Pickering Hudson
Walter Fuller Pickering and his daughter, Tammy Marie Pickering.
Betty Jean Pickering, who has an infant child buried somewhere in Warren County, MS, born (but lived only days) during Betty's marriage to Wayne Williams.
My father's parents, Harvey Houston Collins and Jewel Marie Foster Collins, and their son, Sidney Earl Collins, are also buried here.
If it is necessary for you to approve the edits, please allow them so that there is a clearer depiction of the relationships of our family resting in the Church Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Thank you,
Patty Sue Collins Ward

Willie Briscoe #49270237
Willie Briscoe is the son of my husband's great grand aunt and uncle, William J. Briscoe and Sarah Ann Darden. Would you mind telling me where the date of birth and death came from. I am researching my husband's ancestry and have come across an 1860 US census that lists Wm J Briscoe, Jr. with his mother and father, Wm J Briscoe and Ann (Darden) Briscoe. Wm Jr. was listed as age 6 years old. I have some Lineage papers on the heritage of the Briscoes in America and it states that Wm. J Briscoe and Sarah Ann Darden Briscoe had one son but he died at age 9 years old. It doesn't give his name though. Just trying to work all this out. I'll look forward to hearing from you.

William Shaw
Ernest, have you acquired any more Scottish history on William Shaw, such as his parents, grandparents, etc. Online records reflect his father was also William, but state he was born in 1720, 20 years after our William was born. I would just like more info on what this family was doing in Scotland, info on their clan, etc. There is so much on the Cromarties and hardly anything on the Shaw side. Would appreciate you sharing any additional info you might have. Thanks, Becky

Dougald G McCall # 49880596
Hello ...

Dougald is double linked to his wife Susan. One entry is the correct original memorial and is the one he should be linked to. The other is a duplication and should be unlinked and ignored. The creator of the duplication has also done several more and it has caused much confusion.

He should be linked to # 110828219, Created by: avis walton ....not the other one.

Scott Family Cemetery

I am the grandson of Stewart Scott listed in the Scott Family Cemetery in Rodney, Mississippi and a neophyte genealogist. Thanks so much for documenting this.

This cemetery is supposedly the 2nd family cemetery located in the area. There is from family oral history a much older one somewhere in the area.

Torrey Cemetery
Mr. Rucker
I am letting you know that I got
the direction to the Torrey Cemetery south
of Hermanville. Mr. William Sander Has a
book called Carved in stone and he had put
the directions in his book.

I do need to ask about one more cemetery
that you had added someone in. It is Harrison
Cemetery in Harriston, Jefferson Co. You added
a James G Harrison. Like Torrey it does not
have good directions, it said off Hwy 61 on old road going to Alcorn A&M. I was hoping that you may know where this cemetery is located with better directions.

Thank you for your time

Torrey Cemetery in Elmo
Mr Rucker,

I am looking for a Torrey Cemetery south of Hermanville. It Has 4 headstones in it. David Davenport, Hester Davenport, John Rail and Obedlance Rail. A ms Added this Cemetery in 2009.
A Mr William Sanders added a Torrey Cemetery with 17 headstones near Pattison and a Torrey Gravesite that had one headstone with two names on it and the one that you added in Elmo with 7 headstones. I don't know the Hermanville Area and local folks didn't know where the cemetery was located. And I didn't know if its part of the other Torrey cemeteries or if its a different one altogether. If you have any information or a better location other than south of hermanville that was added by ms it would be greatly appreciated. The Davenports are part of my family line and I would love to visit the site.
Thanks again

Leonidas Oldham
Ernest,

In February of 2013 I was at the Evergreen Cemetery in Port Gibson, Mississippi to visit the grave of my Great Grandfather Leonidas Oldham. In March you added the photograph of the original head stone that is now a foot stone. I completely missed that stone the month before. Thank you so much for finding what I missed. I am very unhappy that I did miss it, though I had no idea that I should look for such a thing.
