Wilfred Ward Buckley
Hello I am researching Wilfred Ward Buckley as he is one of the soldiers on our War Memorial in Saddleworth Church near Diggle. The Church has its 500th Anniversary in 2 years time and we are hoping to be able to remember the men who fought and died in WW1 and something about them. I have already found out that Wilfred and his family lived here and were in the village when he died in 1916. I noticed you left a flower messsage on this site. Are you related to Wilfred? If so and you want to share any information I would be pleased to hear from you. Thank you. Janet Iles

ID Military in Westlawn-Hillcrest
We are currently working to identify anyone buried in Westlawn-Hillcrest Cemetery Omaha NE that has served in the military. If you have a loved one buried there or know of someone, please send us a message. We place flags on the graves for Memorial Day. This project is sponsored by Centennial Masonic Lodge #326.

If you can send us the names, we will be sure to include them on our list to get a flag.

Thank you for the help with this ongoing project.

If you have already received this message, please accept our apologies for the duplicate message.

Ernistene Heller
JMW: I noted that you had posted flowers on memorial 50907082. I believe Ernistene is a sister to my great great grandfather. Who would be August Welk. My mom was Shirley Welk, her dad Louis, his dad Frank and his dad August. Looking for the connection. Anything to add? Ross

RE: Driver H Baillie

Thank you. I was interested to know where you read about Harry's ailment that killed him. Tubercolosis. I hadn't seen that on the general records but makes sense as he died after the war had ended. Almost certainly in one of the Hospitals that remained.

3 Baillie brothers

Walter Baillie G/52027
2nd Batt Middlesex Regiment
Died 27 Feb 1918 aged 19
Tyne Cot

Harry Baillie # T4/252646
Royal Army Service Corps
Died 9 Aug 1919 aged 23
Etaples Military Cemetary

William Baillie # 11735
19 Batt Manchester Regiment
KIA 23 Jan 1916 aged 22
Chipilly Communal Cemetary

The Census record for I believe 1900 shows all 3 boys living at home with their Mum and Dad.

Walter and Sarah Ann Baillie
14 Bush Street
Newton Heath

2 of the worked for the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railways and are commemorated on a WW1 plaque at Victoria Station Manchester.

Interesting that the railway soccer team became Manchester United.

All the best for 2014. Big year for WW1 and aim to visit all 3 of the graves in the next few years.

Driver H Baillie
Thank you for adding a Pic of Harry Baillie's grave in France. He was my Grandfathers first cousin.

You also I believe connected him with William Baillie his brother. Another brother also sadly died Walter Baillie.

My Grandfather William Henry Pinkstone served with William Baillie and saw him just after he had been shelled at Bronfay Farm in Jan 1916.

He later visited them again in 1980. A very touching moment.

RIP The Baillie family

Thank you

John Pinkstone

RE: merry christmas
Thanks, julie, and a very Merry Christmas to you and yours.
We are "Wintering" in Florida this year and I will have very limited time on the net. I have to use my wife's laptop and my eyesight is very poor. Just letting you know in case you don't hear from me very often.

Thank you so much for including my great uncle Harry who died in WW1. We took my Mum to see the grave twice a few years ago, it was very emotional. My mum is 84 now and says she will never forget it. My Nan Elsie (Clarke) Best was a younger sister of Harry and never knew where he rested. She died in 1990 in her 91st year, still remembering him, she was 19 when he died. All those years between their deaths, it is sad she never got to know where he was, I would have loved to have shown her. Thank you once again,
Angela O'Donnell and a very proud family of Harry.

Julie -

You noted that your grandfather was with the Durham Light Infantry in WW2. My maternal grandfather, Edward Pearce Green, was born in County Durham England. Just curious to know if there is a connection. You can email me if you would like.

RE: Hi Olin
Thanks for doing this for me, Julie. I really appreciate it. As you know my wife Janet also had breast cancer. After staying a widower for over 16 years I remarried and my wife now is a breast cancer survivor of 19 years. All the best to you.
