|drbuck||RE: Norman Wheaton Faulk|
Thank you again!
The obit has been posted in the bio, with an explanation. There are so many cemeteries around Ithaca! Under the circumstances he had have been buried in the least expensive one available. Since the family usually spelled the name Falk, i've tried searching with that spelling as well. Nothing located yet!

You mentioned the details but didn't provide the obit itself. Since Preston Hollow is the best info we have at this time, i agree. That could be posted and if the actual burial is found, a note could be made there as well.
Yes, you'd think if he was that successful as a lawyer, that Norman could have paid for the headstone for his nephew. And that his estate could have returned his body to Preston Hollow.
Thanks again for all your research and willingness to share it so the best possible information is available!

I apologize for the delay in answering your edit for Norman Wheaton Faulk.
It was quite a shock to get your note that he was NOT in Preston Hollow! Always assumed that his death date wasn't on the headstone because there was no one left in his family to have it chiseled in.
What great research you have done to discover where he went and why he wasn't returned to his home location. Thank you so much for sharing the details.
So, as you no doubt already know, the Ithaca website has a cemetery search engine and they don't list Norman as being buried there. Where do we go from here?!
Thanks again for this information!

|Brett Griffin||RE: Wesbrook/Westbrook|
Thank you very much for the reply. Noticed when doing research many of my relatives in St. Clair Co., Michigan had a legal(birth) name of Westbrook, but later in life were using Wesbrook having dropped the T.

Thank you for sending the obit. I've added it to the memorial.
Have a good week.

What is the basis for the apparent interchangeability of these last names(Wesbrook/Westbrook)? Is there some historical basis, or are they just two spellings of the same name? It creates problems doing genealogical research. Some families use the different spellings within the same family unit. Thank You

|Susan Stott||Prudence Benton Hatch Memorial|
Thank you for your friendly note regarding the memorial for Prudence Benton Hatch. If I understand correctly you suggest this memorial incorrectly links Prudence to Reuben Hatch as her husband. Did you happen to read the writing on the headstone? It states, "In memory of Mrs. Prudence Hatch, who died September 16, 1824, in the 76th year of her age, relict of Capt. Reuben Hatch." The headstone looks identical to the headstone beside it for Capt. Reuben Hatch. I have researched this relationship and am confident it is correct.
In the cursory research I have done on Prudence Benton married to James Knowles and later, Daniel Foote, Prudence is listed with parents John Benton and Prudence Nott, not Timothy Benton and Abigail Scott.
I suggest this memorial does not belong to your Prudence Benton (Knowles Foote) who, as you mentioned, has an unknown burial. If I am missing something here, please feel free to contact me again. Like you, I want to be sure to get this right. Thank you~

|Simply Me||Andrew J. Cook and Alice Hillis Cook|
I took the information for Andrew J. Cook and Alice Hillis Cook from an online transcript. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~nygreen2/colleburgh_cemetery_part_2.htm I know nothing of their family or family tree. There stone very likely is a cenotaph. I will have Find A Grave mark Andrew's as a cenotaph. If this winter ever ends I will try to make some trips down to this cemetery to finish photographing the stones. When/if I do I will let you know if I find the stone for Andrew J. Cook and Alice Hillis Cook. Thanks.

Good, another Unknown identified. I wasn't sure on the last name and didn't know where to look for it. I thought there were 2 L's, so that and not being sure of the first letter were what were throwing me off. Have a good week!

Thank you for all of your hard work. It is astonishing to see how much weathering and wear there has been to some of the headstones in this cemetery, in just the past three years. The difference between your picture and ours for Infant Hardy is stark!
Were you, in 2013, able to get a photo of the headstones for James H Hardy and Rachel E (Shaffbower) Hardy? We were unable to find them, at least in a recognizable state, in July of 2016.

Hi Suzanne, I have not asked the cemetery office yet for the location of this grave, but I thought that you'd like to know that Anna has another person buried with her (in the same grave). His name is Harold Edmund Higgins, died 4 Mar 1935. Anna's husband George is in the grave beside her.
