June Bork (#47124138)
member for 8 years, 3 months, 25 days
having such a diff. time w/ Virginia Burnett's coming from Northern Ireland (originally from Ayrll? Scotland)

there is a huge gap from John Burnett B; 1813-16 in Ireland(perhaps not even related)
and Michael W Burnett B; 1856-58 Ottawa Ontario
it is said that they were trying to sail to Australia to seek out a Richard Burnett (England) and ended up in Ontario!!!
my clan ended up in Mason City Iowa.
Corp. John James Burnett Sr. B: 1891? my grandfather. and Jr. B: 1921 Mason City Iowa

some from Missouri,
and SD USA

I so much appreciate how much research you have done on the Burnetts!!! and the $$$ you have spent!!!

I do know that my clan landed in Exxex VA.

many blessings to you,

Jacqueline Burnett

Burnett's buried in Essex County
I have created the Burnett Family Cemetery in Essex County, Virginia. You can move all Burnett's buried in Essex County to that cemetery.

University Libraries?
June, At my age, I'm not investing in books. Would a state library or a university library have your research? In TX or in other states?

RE: Burnett research
Thanks, June for this tidy package.

My mother, her mother, and sister are the source of this gossip: William Moses Burnett was "a very sick man." Do you have any knowledge of this statement as fact or trivia? His wife (Malinda Ellen Ward, 1841 1932) seems a very dour Scots herself, especially believable if that's a fact about her husband.

The Burnetts as they came into this part of modern history were spitfires anyway. To have someone in the genetic line who was "very sick" explains much to me in contemporary (not modern) times.

Including duplicates (sorry to say) I have slightly over 350 Burnetts in my tree. The list of all People in my tree at provides an alpha list and the count. Cleaning it up will take a while.

I find the quality of the records that I've been finding on that web site severely downgraded. They are index-only records, and if I chance to find a whole document, the layout they've now instituted makes it impossible to read the document or to copy it. That is what made this research so resonant for me and lots of others.

RE: Burnett research
That's a reasonable answer.

I am sure of the residence & birth in Carrizo Springs, TX of Bernice Lucile Burnett. Also sure of William Ward Burnett's residence there; both of them eventually left TX for California (separately; details later if you're interested). I am sure of their spouses and their mothers, the marriages of their mothers to their Burnett fathers. After that it's all's records. I do have b/w photos of these people, and other relatives.

I have checked the web site (but I was too worried yesterday). I will look more carefully. Perhaps I don't need the books, but would any library have them? I can perhaps send for them via interlibrary loan at my local university.

June, This morning I opened a Wikitree feed and found someone had done part of the work of listing. Your Burnett work is the source of the copied material below. I have copied only the ONE name there (in quotes) that is also represented in my tree, of course. Finding this spurred me on to hand-work the items below. I just found the top one last week.
I do have wives for most of them. I THINK the work is correct.

John Burnett I
Birth 25 Dec 1610 in Aberdeenshire, Scotland
Death Feb 1686 in Rappahannock Co., Virginia,

John Burnett II
Birth 1660 in Piscataway Creek, Old Rappahanock Co., VA
Death before 21 May 1718 in Southfarnham Parish, Essex County, VA
Jeremiah Burnett I
Birth c. 1718 in Essex County, VA
Death After 1777

Jeremiah Burnett II
Birth b. 1740
Death d. Jul 1816 in Talbot County, Maryland,
Valentine Burnett (no dob or dod found yet)

"3. Obadiah Burnett (1764-1838); married 1/ Ruth Mayo (1770-1816); 2/ Mrs Polly Terry"

Not copied from wikitree, but in my tree:

ggggF: Obadiah Burnett
Birth 1764 in Albemarle Co., VA, USA
Death 17 Dec 1839 in Patrick Co., VA, USA
GGGf: Richard Moses Burnett
GGf: Wm Moses Burnett
My gf William Ward Burnett 1871

RE: Burnett research
I haven't found a Williamson in my Burnett relatives, certainly not a direct line.

Once I get my dog and get settled in I'll do a descendent chart.

In one of my lines Alice Moorman is a connection to someone who links to English aristocracy. It could well be in a different line.

There's also a wild-eyed man said to be a shepherd in one of the families, but I only saw his photographs at the home of a Williams family woman who's related to one of my lines, probably Owen.

RE: Burnett research
The Moorman name is familiar and Alice I see most frequently (1622-1667) then Agatha and Achilles come up but they don't seem to be prominent in my memory.

Buford doesn't appear.

Lychburg, independent cities, VA does appear.

I now have the directions to run a descendants report. I haven't time to though. My dog. . .

Thank you, June Bork for your work in re the Burnett family members.

I'm a family member whose last relative from Carrizo Springs TX was my mother Bernice Lucille Burnett.

I'm now as an elder looking at family history. Where would the Burnett family book I saw in some other line (Williams, segues with Burnett -- and Ward too I think) had in her hand in 1980 in San Antonio. It was hardbound and pretty thick.

I also had a relative on the Mayflower, June. I'm proud of that. I'd like to join the Mayflower society you are in.

Do you have any idea as to what town his farm would be near. I should be able to get the cemetery on there but they generally ask for a town to put it near as well as the county.

I think we are allowed to add new cemeteries to a county. Would you like to add the Burnett Family Farm Cemetery.

Sorry, not related to Baldwin's but I have great interest in the Conger Cemetery as it is family. I take great effort to place flags on all the vets graves and would like to have an idea where your James Baldwin is buried.

There are small gravestones for a Leah Baldwin and a William S. Baldwin. They are very small and bear no other information, almost as if they were added by the cemetery as a marker for a grave site. Do you know who William is? Do you know if this Leah is Lavinia?

Would it help if I asked to see the cemetery map? I know the man that is the current "caretaker". He lives less then a mile from the cemetery.
