Hello, and thank you for telling me about the additional photos on Betsy's memorial.

I must admit that if I think my photo is better, I will post an additional photo on a memorial that already has one, which sometimes irritates the memorial manager - but sometimes not. Many managers are adamant that their photos not be copied and used on ancestry, or wish to be asked first, or demand credit for the photos. I allow anyone to use them for whatever they want, no asking, no credit - so I don't feel too bad about adding a photo that someone can use freely.

On Betsy's memorial I have re-ordered the photos so that mine is on top, as I believe that it is the best photo of the bunch. The best photo should be first, but 5 photos are allowed so I don't feel at all reluctant to let the others stay.

Have a super day!

Date of death for Emily Ervin Covey Phillips Saxe is probably wrong. I just found record on Ancestry that shows she signed quitclaim on 5 Dec 1872 in Bedford, Quebec, Canada.

"..Emily Irvine Covey widow of the late John Saxe ... to Joseph I. Mackie"

Quebec, Canada, Notarial Records, 1626-1935
Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec; Montréal, Quebec, Canada; Collection: Archives des notaires du Québec; District: Bedford; Title: Lefebvre, Jean-Moïse (1870-1888)

Thanks for your response. Yes I am into the Bard s. my husbands mother was a Bard. I have recently went back to work on that line. There have been many new records added from Indiana and finding the correct father for her is what sparked it. If I can be of any help to you let me know.

Captain Samuel Jarvis
Hello - thanks for your query - Samuel Jarvis is my maternal 7th Great-Grandfather - I hadn't looked at that record for many years so was a welcome with your query because it took me to a record that was created in 2013 and his burial location & photo of his headstone!

Please have a look at Memorial #121023138 - the inscription reads Captain Samuel Jarvis who died Sept 27, 1779 in the 81st year of his age and his wife Naomi Jarvis .... buried in the St Paul's on the Green Meadows cemetery.

So exciting to see the headstone.

Anyway to answer your question the information I had on my record was from the Jarvis Family book "Descendants of Simon Fraser of Lagan, Inverness-shire, Scotland" I took another look at the book and found the inscription on page 44 for Captain Samuel Jarvis and his wife Naomi (Brush) Jarvis.

Hope the above helps.
Thanks again for your query!
- Linda

I see you have ties to George Elwell Below is a message I sent to another member of F.A.G. I'm trying to button up a few loose ends on my Grandmother Blenda Erickson thought you may know something Have Great Day.

What a beautiful memorial you have on George. Perhaps you can help me. My Grandmother Blenda Erickson according to the 1900 Census at age 15 was a servant for the Elwell family, I'm not sure if she perhaps did tutoring in addition to being a servant or if there were another reason why she wasn't living with her parents. Any Thoughts? Have a great day

It took me some time to figure out which Bermuda cemetery you meant, and the photo loads perfectly OK on my computer. And the photos by the other people also load fine for me.

Oops, someone not you manages John Sabbin, the son's memorial. That was where I sent the transcription from the History of Otter Tail county. S/he has not posted it yet. I can send it to you, but it is lengthy.
I see you work on Carver county. According to that history, John Sabbin, Sr. resided there from 1872-1875, and Jr. from 1872-1878. I am also searching for his daughter, Mary (Mrs. Jacob Krouser), who according to John Sr.'s obit., was living in Norwood at the time of his death in 1903.

I have a copy of his obit ( which I am still working on for his memorial ) plus census data, plus the excerpt from the historical record of Otter Tail county that I believe I transcribed and sent to you for his son, John Sabbin's memorial. I hope you receive that. The historical record played fast and loose with the spelling of their surname. His son Fred went with Sabin, but his son John went with Sabbin. Also his daughter Caroline used Sabbin.

RE: William, Ernst and Lena Dietreich
Caroline Sabbin was a sister to an adopted child in my line: Katharine Lorfeld Kiester #114166720. It has taken me years to suss out the relationship.

Thanks for the update on his second wife, Caroline R. Sabbin Dietrich. If you check his memorial, you will notice there is a glitch in the Find A Grave system and now both spouses are duplicated. I hope this is something that is easy to fix.

Thanks for your note. In a relatively small town the choices for marriage partners were somewhat limited so intermarrying was pretty common. I have the same situation in the small town in Iowa where I grew up before moving to Chicago when I was young. I agree that Col. Black's book is pretty amazing. Through intermarriage, I am probably connected to at least half of those who are included in it. So, how are you connected to Searsport? Thanks. Ken Tyler ( Oostburg WI

Thanks for the note. However, both spouses are listed in his F-a-G memorial and in my Ancestry tree. I, too, have many ship captains as family members inlcuding the Blacks, Dows, and many others. My great-grandmother Matilda Maria (Black) Tyler was born in North Searsport. Thanks. Ken Tyler, Oostburg WI

RE: Minnie (Wallace) Frost
Here's a copy of her obit:

My interest in her family group is tangential. My last name is Wallace. While recently touring the Gettysburg Battlefield, I saw a memorial plaque that had the name "Stryker Wallace" listed as a soldier. I took a picture of it and decided to look his family up later.

Minnie was his only child, and as near as I can tell, his branch of the Wallace family ended with her.

Re: Minnie (Wallace) Frost
Good evening! I've got a couple of bits of info that link Stryker Wallace's daughter Minnie to this entry, though nothing direct. I was researching Stryker and trying to determine what happened to his daughter.

The 1910-1940 US Census all have Minnie living at home with her parents Stryker and Mary. They both pass in 1940.

I then found a link to a Minnie S Wallace's marriage to Dr. Frost:

Minnie Frost's obituary in the Wisconsin State Journal also has several details that link her with Stryker's Minnie:

- Born in Montana
- Music Teacher
- Worked in Chicago area for extended time

I can send you the documents via email, if you like. My address is fixxxer99 at gmail dot com.

Shepard family at Greenmount Cemetery

The Joshua Shepard family is buried in Sec D with Elizabeth Reeve nearby in Sec F. The Shepards donated their home for the Dansville Public Libary--the Shepard Memorial. There is a painting of Elizabeth's sister Amelia at the library. I have a lot of their info in my page. I have met with Adele Shepard and helped her with her family research and cleaned up the plots. I have photos of all the stones. She comes from Charles, sister of Elizabeth Shepard Reeve. She has a great interest in the Shepard family history. I pieced together the Shepards on findagrave for her. My work is for the cemetery records at Greenmount with PHGS.

The Shepards also connect with Nathaniel Rochester who founded the city of Rochester, NY

I will transfer Elizabeth to you. If you wish to make contact with Adele (Joshua-Charles-Thomas-Charles II contact me at

Thanks for the excellent explanation you provided for the different burial locations of Susan & her husband.

I apologize for not reading the bio - I have uploaded about 2,500 Argenteuil photos over the last week, and was looking at the 'photo' tabs, not the 'memorial' tabs.

St. Joseph's church, Lexington was moved to the Pioneer Power site. If you do a search for that event, you will see the story about the church and pictures of it in its site where it is being lovingly preserved.
