Thank you for your time. May I use your Photograph oh the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific (Designated Area to spread ashes) for my Family Trees? Thank you again for your consideration and time.

Hi Russell, Sorry, I wasn't clear. The names I gave you (Apuakehau) are in Laie Cemetery also.

Mahalo Russel for reply. I thought they were separate but it's because someone are entering same names in both!

Laie Pioneer Memorial Cemetery
Aloha Russell,

Would you happen to know if the Pa'akea & Moko'iki cemeteries are in the Laie Pioneer Memorial cemetery and if there are more Apuakehau family graves?

Smiles of Aloha, G

I liked your picture of that cemetery's specific area of ash scattering. That seems kinda weird. Have you seen other areas like that?

RE: William Ridsdale
Cemetery records indicate that both are buried in the same grave but only the younger Williams marker is there. He went back and checked a second time for me to be sure.

Vist went pretty good. The cemetery had been "cleaned" up but I fear when that is done many of the old broken markers are getting moved around and then thrown out with the other "trash". It is looking so bare since when I first started. I got a lot of "unknown" and if I can get corporation with this technology, I will make them into memorials before they too are "cleaned' away. I will have to verify others have not made memorial of the unknown, but will only be able to check with comparing old photos with my recent ones.

Aloha,

Just wanted to leave a note to let you know I will be in town next week and am trying to make the best of my time. Biggest challenge is getting the most photos with the short time I can spend there.

If youd like to share, feel free to email me and I will get back to you

Picture & bio for Albert M. Hart
I am compiling biographies of the names on the War Memorial here in Buffalo, WY for publication in Gatchell Museum magazine. Could I please use the picture of the gravestone for Albert M. Hart who is buried in Honolulu, as well as using your bio of Lt. Hart as a source for his section in the article? If so, how would you like the source credit?
Thanks so much for your time,
Pepper Williams

I apologize for not reading your statement about submitting additions under the edit tab--and so I sent them in a simple message, but then followed it with the edit tab entry. However, I don't see where to mention the sources under the edit tab (is there a place?) so I mention them here. Charles's father's obituary, which can be found in the March 21, 1957 Ironwood Daily Globe mentions his son Charles. Also, Charles's sister's Find a Grave entry (Ann Selby Iskra) mentions her attending her brother's burial in 2001 after his body was identified. Thanks.

RE: Lena Machado gravestone photo
Russell,

Yes, I would still be interested in using that Lena Machado gravestone photo. What you have posted--at c. 350 KB--might work, but the editor of the Hawaiian Steel Guitar Association Quarterly prefers larger-sized photos. If you might be able to locate the original, that would be great.

Thank you for your time.

Lena Machado gravestone photo
Russell,

I am a member of the music-faculty at South Dakota State University who writes articles for the Honolulu-based publication the Hawaiian Steel Guitar Association Quarterly. An article I'm currently working on makes mention of Lena Machado, and--in searching the internet for some possible photos of her--I came across your photo of her gravestone at findagrave.com.

I was wondering if I might have permission to use your gravestone-photo to accompany my next HSGA article (with appropriate credit to you, of course, in the photo-caption). This article would be the third part of a four-part series on the first album recorded by country/Hawaiian steel guitarist Jerry Byrd in early 1950 (Nani Hawaii ), which included a cover of Machado's song "Kaulana ‘o Hilo Hanakahi”.

If you might see fit to grant permission, I was also wondering if by any chance you have a somewhat-more-high-resolution version of the photo. (The editor is a bit hesitant to try to print photos smaller than c. 500 KB, because they tend to turn out a bit indistinct with the printing-process they use.)

Thank you for considering my request; have a good day.

RE: Loch (or Lock) View Cemetery
Thank you for your reply. Thank you also for your suggestion to contact the Hawaii State Archives. I contacted them, and just received a message this morning saying they have a record for John Cruz and an infant daughter of John Cruz. I have asked for copies of these records.

Loch (or Lock) View Cemetery
I recently received a copy of a death certificate showing John Cruz was buried in Loch View Cemetery June 1906 (he died June 25). I don't see a John Cruz listed in this cemetery on findagrave.com. Do you know if there are other burial records for this cemetery?
