Mary Ann Nelson Allen Bullock
Mary Ann Nelson Allen was the daughter of Rev. (John) Rhodam Allen and his first wife, Phebe Wilkerson.

She married George W. Bullock on 15 Sep 1831 in Jefferson Co., IL, married by her father at West Salem Methodist Church.

They had several children: Eliza Ann, William A., Mary C.(d. as infant), Phebe Catherine, George W. II., Benjamin Franklin, Henry Clay, Charlotte (d. as infant), and John W. Bullock.

After her death, George second married Sarah M. Gilbert.

It was known that Mary Nelson Bullock had another older stone that went missing during a vandalism.
Glad to see it has turned up!

Contact me again if you need more help. (but this is the best I can do right now). I transfer him back to you.

Mary Bullock w/George
Hi cuz,
A tombstone has just been found used as a prop. It reads Mary N. consort of George Bullock d 10 Mr 1865 age 51 yr 14 days. This may be a first wife of our George. Many tombstones were vandalized. If this is our connection , our commentary needs to be changed a bit on this. I'll forward the article from my friend Rosemary on Facebook. Look for it there too.
MT. VERNON Philip Bollinger was doing his job at 220 S. 18th St., when he discovered a mystery.A 147-year-old tombstone, which was being used to prop up a flower container.

"It was by the shed, with six bricks holding it up and turned upside down with a concrete flower pot on it," Bollinger said. "When I turned it over, it was a tombstone."

The tombstone reads, "In memory of Mary N. Consort of George Bullock died March 10, 1865 aged 51 years, 14 days."

Bollinger said he believes the man who lived in the home before his death was a historian, and members of a historical society have been at the property to remove antiques from the home and an antique fence which was on the north side of the property, located across from Casey Middle School.

"No one seems to know how he acquired it," Bollinger said of the marker. "I've made calls to a lot of the Bullocks listed that live around here, but no one can recall or claims it."

This was one of the most interesting finds Bollinger said he has ever made. Bollinger started his own tree trimming company after his retirement in 1990.

"It's made of marble, not sandstone," Bollinger pointed out. "You just don't see markers like this laying around, and it's lasted almost 150 years."

It's also unknown if the tombstone is from Mt. Vernon, Jefferson County or another area, as Bollinger said he understands the previous owner traveled extensively to acquire his antiques.

"I think I'll just hang onto it for now," Bollinger said. "I'd really like to know more about it."

Hi Lee,

I got this name and information from a dear friend of mine named Loren Ouart. He gave me a list of everyone buried there including his family. I just entered all the names on the list.
