Joanne (Bruns) Sherwood
August Bruns
Hi Tracy,
I am trying to find the Find A Grave memorial for Clemens "August" Bruns born 5/13/1841 and died 8/18/1895 both in Maria Stein, Ohio to John Bruns and Maria Elizabeth Frilling. I found a memorial to his wife #74793000. Could the Find A Grave memorial #74793222 be his? I know the dates are off a little sometimes especially back that far. I would like to add his information and link him to his family but I don't want to create a new memorial if this is his. let me know what you think.

Thanks, Joanne

Richard Hedrick
William G. Hedrick?
Morning,
I see that you have a posting for a William Hedrick with a tombstone pic for a burial at Green Mound Cemetery in Mercer Co.....but this is also the same pic that show's up for William Hedrick at Forest Home Cemetery in Defiance Co. Ohio. Any idea which is correct?

Lena Sanderell
Hello,
Just FYI, the Lena (Find A Grave Memorial# 37314334) on the same stone with Clemence Sanderell (Find A Grave Memorial# 37314309) is his sister, not his wife.
Cordially,
Linda W.

Phebe at Pisgah
Good Evening,
Could Phebe also possibly be Phoebe Golden Lowry as the date I have for her death is the same as recorded on the stone? Her birthdate was c. 1820 and she married John Mortimer Lowry (buried in Fort Recovery). I have seen records that Phoebe G. Lowry was buried at Pisgah - Fox Road. Phoebe was J. M. Lowry's first wife. I noticed other Goldens are also buried at Pisgah.

John L Adney #38415320
Hello Tracy,

This John L Adney is actually John Lesena Adney b. 29 Jan 1807 Huntington Twp, Gallia, OH d. 13 Dec 1849 Mercer Co, OH. The U.S.Federal Census Mortality Schedules Index states: "A farmer - died in the 43rd year of his life of lung fever." According to the story: "Adney Family of America" by Edwin Tappan Adney and John Robert Adney of Miles, Iowa - "John Leseney Adney & his father, John Adney, LIE SIDE BY SIDE. This site occupies a knoll that commands a wide view of the Wabash Valley. John Leseney Adney's stature was a large-boned "Scotch" type and he had blue eyes. He was named after his maternal grandfather, John Lazena." --- Look at the stone with the chalking. The chalk failed to pick up the very, very thin line to the left of the "1" (in the 1819 and 13) that would have made a "4" and not a "1". John Lesena was the husband of Mary Ann Pierce of whom I mentioned in the previous message. Whew!! That one's solved! Alice Woodlief

John Adney memorial #38415322
Hello Tracy,
First, thank you very much for all the contributions you have made to findagrave.
My g-g-g- grandfather was John Adney #38415322 [you have b. unknown d. Feb. 20, 1847]. He was actually b. 28 Mar 1774 Probably at the Quaker Settlement near the Cape Fear River, NC and d. the date you show at Ft Recovery, Darke (now Mercer), OH. Green Mound Cemetery was originally called the Adney Burial Ground donated by this John Adney from property he owned. I have been researching my Adney family roots for the last 20 years and am very sure that John was married to Barbara Lesena #52500753. Barbara is buried next to her and John's son, Jonathan Adney, in the Glenn Cemetery in Vinton, Gallia, OH. The wife you show as John's wife, Mary Ann Adney #38415322 b. unknown d. 25 Jul 1853 is actually John's daughter-in-law, Mary Ann PIERCE, b. 14 Mar 1808 OH d. 25 Jul 1853 in Jefferson Twp, Ft Recovery, Mercer, OH. Sarah ADNEY Hawkins #64629572 is indeed John and Barbara's child. John L Adney #38415320 [you have b. unknown d. Dec. 13, 1819] who died "in the 13th year of his age" is not a child of John and Barbara. John and Barbara LESENA Adney did have another son, John Leseney Adney b. 29 Jan 1807 Huntington Twp, Gallia, OH d. 13 Dec 1849 Mercer Co, OH of lung fever and is buried in the Adney Graveyard/Green Mound Cemetery at Ft Recovery, Mercer Co, OH. This John is the husband of the above-mentioned Mary Ann PIERCE. I will have to do further research to find out who this child, John L Adney, actually is. I know this is probably a lot for you, and again, I truly appreciate the work you've done, but so many people are using findagrave for their family connections, I'd like to see them get it right. No one wants to take the wrong baby home from the hospital :) If you cannot make these corrections, will you please transfer John Adney, my g-g-g-grandfather, to me? I have put much, much love into this Adney family. Alice Woodlief contributor #47158142 e-mail: starla.haze@yahoo.com

Thank you for all your efforts to help all of us who live so far away from where we have family lines.
A correction for Green Mound Cemetery, Fort Recovery, Mercer Co.OH
John W Ickes was born 1859, not 1869. Enlarging the tombstone picture shows the stone
does read 1859 - which agrees with Jay Co. Indiana census records.
Again, thank you.
