Asa Upham Memorial# 56886023
RE: Asa Upham Find A Grave Memorial# 56886023 no change required.

The source for the May 18, 1736 date of birth is "Upham Genealogy : The descendants of John Upham of Massachusetts who came from England in 1635, and lived in Weymouth and Malden. Embracing over five hundred heads of families, extending into the tenth generation." by F.K. Upham.

Handwritten record for the Town of Sturbridge has the date of birth for Asa Upham May 18, 1738. It appears this town record is a handwritten copy completed after the changeover from the Julian calendar in 1752 as one date on the page is 1738/9 as was the practice after 1751. Also, this version appears to be all in the same handwriting indicating a much later date.

As the grave stone has Asa's age at 92 at time of death in 1828 and the family genealogy book lists the date of birth for Asa Upham as May 18, 1736, it appears 1736 is correct.

RE: Joshua Park Memorial# 81959041 of Voluntown, Conn
Hello, and thanks for your thorough reply. I appreciate your correction of this information for my search. Is this Park family part of your family line? If so, I would appreciate if you could share the information and documentation you have gathered. Through paternal DNA testing by my father via the Parke Society, we know our immigrant ancestor. But, that knowledge does not seem to match up with family trees established by folks we are matched with through Ancestry and Family Tree DNA analysis. I would welcome further discussion. My email is EVEYBL at AOL dot COM.

Thanks for fixing that typo. FYI, Kenneth's middle name and my first name of Lester was our grandfathers given name. Kenny died of abdominal cancer, I know I have an obituary but for some reason I neglected to scan it so I'll have to look for the clipping and get back to you.

Andrew Lawrence
RE: Lawrence in Minnesota
My father and grandfather were born in St. Paul. My great grandfather Lionel Lawrence died there, but he and his ancestors were from Quebec. Lionel's parents Azariah and Emma moved from Canada to Crosby, North Dakota. Emma is buried there, but Azariah is buried in Rushmore, Minnesota.
I don't know of any connection with Donald Irving. However, my grandfather's brother's name is Donald Edward Lawrence. He's buried at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis in Hennepin County.

RE: Henry Lawrence
Thank you for your reply! The information I have linking the John Lawrence ancestry to Sir Robert Lawrence in 1150 is from a booklet printed in 1985 entitled "The Genealogy of the American and Canadian Descendants of John Lawrence of Wisset, Suffolk, England" by Roger & Lorraine Lawrence of Minneapolis, MN. Most of their booklet focuses on the descendants of Azariah Welcome Lawrence of Lawrenceville, Quebec (1851-1927), of which I am one.
It is a little disappointing to learn that the traditional lineage is based on faulty information. Hopefully the puzzle will eventually be solved. Again, thank you so much for sharing what you have learned.

RE: Sawyer Family Work
Hey Cuz,
Thanks so much for the kind words. There is just so much incorrect info out there on Ancestry and folks copying it to their own trees as well. I consider this my gift to the future generations, and I certainly want it to be correct. I do so very much appreciate the acknowledgement!

47537224 Emma L Kellogg
With the additional information you provided, I don't think the Emma L. Kellogg at Grand View is your relative.... shows another record for an Emma L. Kellogg, spouse initials MR, age 58, who died in Orange County on 10/6/1933. I think this is most likely her. I doubt they would have come more than 50 miles out of their way to bury her at Grand View.

You might want to order a copy of her death certificate from the Orange County Recorder's Office here:
You would only need an Informational Copy, which does not require a notarized statement, and it should show her disposition (cremation or burial, and where).

Or, you might try calling the largest cemetery complex in Santa Ana: Santa Ana Cemetery aka Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, and/or Fairhaven Memorial Park.

If you do a cemetery search by county from the main Findagrave page, there are not that many in Orange County. With the above date of death, they should be able to tell you if she is there or not.

Good luck!
