I found the obituary for Mrs. Elizabeth Morrow died Dec. 13, 1888. Grandmother of Daniel Yow. She died near Wrightsboro but I have no idea where she is buried. Hoping you might know.
Obit- Gonzales InquirerDec. 13, 1888
Died-At the residence of A.W. Pouncy, near Wrightsboro, Texas, December 6, 1888, at 3 o'clock p.m., Mrs. Elizabeth Morrow aged 79 years, 8 months and 24 days. Mrs. Morrow came from Mississippi to Texas in December 1850, where she has lived for 38 years. She had been in feeble health for many years, yet she possessed to the very last an unusual good memory for a person of her advanced age. Mrs. Morrow made a profession of religion at the age of 19 and for sixty years was an humble follower of Christ. She fully realized in the closing years of her life that Christ had sustained her in all her trials and afflictions through which she passed. In her last hours with pain and suffering here on earth Christ was her only hope and sustained her with grace divine as she passed over the deaths "dark river" to the better land.

|Wanda Quinn Bradford||RE: John Blackstone Pouncey grave|
I really do not know if he has a marker. The Florence Cemetery is huge...and I have been told that many markers have been damaged by vandals and/or severe storms over the years. I have a Find A Grave friend who has made MANY photos of the existing markers. He frequently returns to make more photos since the cemetery is so large. I believe he told me that one of the caretakers at the cemetery has told him he could lead him to any grave that has a marker...so perhaps he can determine if Mr. Pouncey has a marker and provide us with a photo. If I learn that the marker does exist, I will contact you. :-)

I sent a few via the edit button on their memorials.
Anthony Pouncey Feb. 19, 1898
Naomi Pouncey Feb. 20, 1890
I also have;
A. W. Pouncey April 14, 1919
They are longer and take a while to type up. Find A Grave does not like us posting pictures of obits. So it takes a little longer but that's okay I like the obits on the memorial better then a picture.

I have the obit for S. W. Pouncey if you would like it. There are a number of others I've found if you would like those also.

|Chris Johnson||8th Great Grandfather|
Hello all, OK I'm a bit late coming to the party, but at least I've arrived. I'm a descendent of Anthony Pouncey. My connection is through Elizabeth "Betsy" Townsend who married Francis J. Johnson (3rd Great Grandparents). I'd love to compare genealogy notes.

I want to say "Thank you" for creating the memorial for my mother and my father. The only problem was that you had a nickname of "Fay" listed for her.
I never remember anyone ever calling her by that name. I do know that when I was little, Bubba's, (Harold Gene Pouncey), mother was sometimes called
Fay instead of Floy.

Thank you for the correction on her year of birth. Just a typo and I have corrected to 1832. This is Diana and you and I have corresponded via email regarding our Pouncey lineage. Thanks again!

Do you know for a fact this is correct cemetery for William Jones Pouncey son of Samuel and Sarah Jones Pouncey? I have found a person that has the same photos attached to him with burial in Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church, Montgomery, Alabama. Thanks, Martha

|Ron Wade||William Jones Pouncey Headstone|
I saw with sadness the condition of the headstone for William Jones Pouncey. I have been replacing missing and destroyed headstones for my ancestors and ordering from a place out of California for $250 which are really nice. I'm not descended from him but from Dr. Benjamin Frankli0n Williams (Find A Grave Memorial# 26966935, the son of Butler Williams (1799-1854) and Sarah G. Pouncey (1809-1856). I'd contribute a little if others would help in buying a replacement stone for William Jones Pouncey.

I actually have a better copy of that photo if you would like me to ask my cousin's daughter if I may share it. Since Elaine is deceased and held the copyright her daughter is now the owner.
Also, the memorial you have it linked to is an African American Cemetery but since the contributer has not responded in over a year there is not any way except to go through find a grave to correct it. They are buried in Friendship United Methodist Church Cemetery in Butler Co, Alabama.
The memorial number is 5654573.

I have found one Mary Pouncey Listed in Rest Haven Memorial Park in Tampa Fla.
It is Mary Hill Pouncey 1911-1958
There are no Mary or Virgil Workman listed. Do you have the dates and is this the right Mary. Let me know and I will try to find this cemetery. I have not lived in this area long but from the maps it looks like none of the cemeteries are located in very good sections of town and so far cant talk my hubby into going with me LOL

Hi Mr. Pouncy,
How nice to hear from you. I tried to zoom in focus on the large headstone behind Lane Pouncey, but I am unable to read it. The photos were sent to me in California from Alabama.
Sorry I can't help.

David is the only Pounce grave I have taken a photo of so far. I photograph cemeteries, not only to post on Find A Grave, but for the Arkansas Gravestones Project. I did enter Eleanor's memorial from her obit, so she is now memorialized on Find A Grave.
