I made a mistake of suggesting a correction of Sirmans. I noticed his daughters are Sirmans and his sons are Sirmons. How frustrating...

I had friended on Facebook a lady named Margaret Sirmans, perhaps you know her? She told me she was married to Paul Sirmans. I went to his page and Vanessa Pace had posted that pic on there. I asked if I could share it & posted it on Find A Grave with their permission. I love old pics too, especially when I know who's in them. :)

Im not sure why it is not showing up. Sometimes if you do not put them in a cemetery, and they are not cremated, but you do list a county and state it will not show up. I do know he died in Russell County, Alabama through documents I have obtained through the courts. He was preaching at two places during the time of his death, one in Early County Georgia and One in Russell County. His grave was probably unmarked or destroyed over time since he died in 1836. Of course his wife and children moved back to present day lanier County, Ga to be With his in laws the Sirmon family. The Sirmons and Studstill families both originally came from Bulloch County Ga and Moved to the Lowndes County Area!

But if you wish to use them, you are welcome to do so, anyway. Glad to hear your mother is fine.

So, maybe the beginning was the "Sirmans" and somewhere in between there, it "branched" off in to "Sirmons". I know Mr. Huxford was very particular to get his info correct, so it's intriging to know that his Vol. 1 starts out with the "Sirmans" spelling.... :)

I am always willing to transfer a Memorial when a direct descendant is involved or when significant genealogical data beyond what I may have can be added.
Please however without sending "a Tree" explain your connection to Louisa Sutton.

I replied to you by your e-mail address. I am also a direct descendant of Mrs. Sirmons through Malissa Rouse Jones. I would really like to keep her. Why is this so important to you?

Hi JeriRuth --
I replied to two of your emails but I'm not sure you are getting them. Previous to that I had no way of getting hold of you and had to ask Finda-a-Grave to assist.
So I will try this way.
Here was the email I sent to you on 6/21. Feel free to get back to me. Thanks!
Benjamin Sirmans is my 3rd great grandfather. His son Benjamin Hill Sirmans (who changed the spelling of his name to Sirmons) was my 2nd great grandfather, through his son Benjamin Franklin Sirmons, whom family remembers as "Daddy Frank" (and whom I remember still alive when I was a little boy). Daddy Frank's son, James Franklin Sirmons is my maternal grandfather and is still alive. My full name is Christopher Sirmons Haviland, as I took my mother's surname as my middle.
How are you related to the family?

I will upload both for you.

JeriRuth - Glad to help with the photo. According to the VA site, he's in Columbarium 7, Section II, Row 11, Site 5 so I shouldn't have trouble finding it. I'm getting pretty good at finding my way around Arlington, and known the Columbariums well. I plan to go there tomorrow so you should have a picture tomorrow evening.
