Capt Leander Dwight Kee
On findagrave the pic said to be Dwight is not him. This pic is John Wonsetler the husband of Dwights sister Lydia Kee. A pic of Dwight can be seen in the book "The Story of a Thousand" the history of the Ohio 105th.

David Roberts
Joseph Valentine Morgan
Here's additional information & a correction for Joseph Valentine Morgan # 42655960 at Rockville Cemetery. He is the son of Joseph Francis Morgan # 20777288 & Ellen Leigh Edelen Morgan #20696106, both at St. Aloysius Gonzaga R. C. Cemetery, Leonardtown, St. Mary's County. It looks like the Jr. & Sr. were mixed in the citations at Rockville. His birthdate matches with the known children of this couple at Leonardtown. He descends from a number of major Southern Maryland Catholic families.

His grandmother may be at St. Aloysius as well & his grandfather at Old St. Joseph's, Morganza, St. Mary's County, but I'll not link them until I find out for sure.

Thank you !

Cynthia Orr
Nicholas Nimrod Pumphrey
Hello Gary,
I attached some files from the National Archives on the military service of Nicholas Nimrod Pumphrey, M.D. to my family tree. You are most welcome to peruse them.
They show that he definitely died in Camp Anderson, which was about 6 miles north of Little Rock, Arkansas, on 16 April, 1863. Other records show that at one point, he was relieved of duty in 1862 due to illness. His death due to fever a year later is tragic, but very common under the circumstances. It is nearly certain that he would have been buried close by as the Union forces were arrayed not far from Little Rock that year, in their campaign to capture the city for the Union side. Even though he was an officer, the command would have no resources to ship his body back to his family.
In addition, Pumphrey's family, (his wife, Lydia Orr is our 2x Great Aunt) had relocated with their children during the War away from Independence, Missouri to Council Bluffs, Iowa.
An incidental note but interesting to our family history is that Nicholas Nimrod Pumphrey was the only person on that side of the family who fought with the C.S.A. His brothers in law (Orr family) all joined the Union Army.Even his cousin Lot Pumphrey fought for the Union side.
Another curious note is that his parents Nicholas and Cassandra were closely related....kind of like first cousins.
Anyway, you might want to update the Find A Grave record for Nicholas Nimrod Pumphrey. Record # 171565900.

Edward and Sarah Owen
Gary, I just sent you SACs on Edward and Sarah, but wanted to ensure you got this information. You have them in the wrong cemetery. They are buried in Riverside Cemetery, Bellevue, Eaton, Michigan, not Spaulding. Let me know when you correct this and I will add photos of their markers plus provide you with burial information. Thanks.

Find A Grave # 39580995 has the same dates and name except for middle initial as #101055385 but she is listed in 2 different cemeteries. Is there any way to tell what is correct. If the first is correct is her husband buried there? Bev. email:

RE: shaver photos at Robert Bird
Hi, I felt bad about the condition of Clifford Shaver's gravestone. I cleaned it up this afternoon with a lichen and mold remover, let it sit for an hour, scrubbed it down and let it dry in the hot sun then re-took the picture - just in time for Memorial Day. If you go to his memorial 121233897, you'll see a much better photo. FYI, I used an approved product, the same stuff they use at Arlington memorial to de-stain gravestones.

Marie Bonafonte
Theodore, Rhoda & Elsie Pumphrey
You had requested photos of marker (headstone/flatstone) for the 3 Pumphrey. I was at the Pumphrey family plot but was not able to find anything for Elsie. I will be though adding a photo of the family plot and the caption will show who has a marker. In addition, I've uploaded the same family plot photo for Alice Pumphrey and Hattie Pumphrey, again because there are no markers for them. However, I did find Hazel Willson, daughter of Theodore & Rhoda - she was listed in Woodland database but not in F.A.G. so I have created a memorial for her and uploaded a photo showing her marker. Marie

We have line in common.
My Great Grandfather in his writings about the genealogy (Tobey, Lincsott, Weeks...) continuously referred to the cemetery as being on Bunker Hill in Jefferson.
Thanks for the pictures.
