Henry Hester
You have placed a Civil War gravestone for I.H. Hester on Henry Hester #48391700. This hardly fits as Henry Hester died 24 years before the Civil War started and he only lived in Ohio and Indiana. Would you be so kind and try to find the correct Hester. Please remove this.

Thank you for the info. I have added it, as you requested. Please check and see if I linked them to the correct Absalom Becht, buried in Green Forks Cemetery, in Green Fork, IN. If not, please let me know, as we try to be as correct as possible.

Adam & Betty A Few Photos By Kenny Plummer
Huddleston's
I have recently found that I am related to the Huddleston's through my GGG grandmother who was Rachel Huddleston Eccles. I am trying to track my genealogy and I wondered if you have any connection to her. Her brother was Jonathon Huddleston.

You're welcome. I was unable to find an obituary on-line, so I'm sorry I don't know where you could find one.

RE: Howard N. Huddleston's marker
Hi, Leah ~ my husband is here for a few days and went with me, but I did actually find Howard N. all by myself...if you saw the note I attached to his marker's pic, it was a good thing I couldn't find him the first time because now that area was all spruced up and neatly clipped around the stones...made me SO happy to finally find him in such good shape!

RE: Huddleston at Terrace Grove
See, LOL, maybe we are at least friends of cousins!

Okay, I'll ask now: why do you call him Howard M. when the five who've listed him on ancestry.com call him Howard Norman? What a neat guy he was...and what stories all our people had to tell!

Also, do you have any clue where his grave might be within the cemetery as there is no office so visitors must traipse around and hope they find what they're looking for...or was there any chronological order that you know of?

Did you have any relatives in Michigan...seems like my HS pix were taken by a Mr. Huddleston up there...but that was LONG ago.

RE: Huddleston at Terrace Grove
I've been lucky enough to spend a few days in the Centerville, Indiana area...over the last four years...when my husband was stationed in VA so it was just a day's drive.

I have people in Holy Grounds (Doddridge) Cemetery, Dunlapsville, and probably Bryan (can't find those, tho). I'm pretty sure my people owned the farm on the corner of that main N/S road and McConaha Road south of Centerville. Who knows; maybe you and I are distant cousins ~ :-).

We ARE still missing these folks if you happen to stumble into either their graves or their records:

Nancy McConnaha Turner

Birth: Dec. 21, 1801
Fauquier County
Virginia, USA
Death: Dec. 26, 1875
Wayne County
Indiana, USA

Father: James McConaha b: 1773 in Loudoun County, VA
Mother: Elizabeth Burroughs McConaha b: c.1775 in Fauquier County, Virginia

buried either in Doddridge Cemetery or the one on former farm (Bryan) close by to north

Children:
James Thomas Turner (1834 - 1862)* (He IS in Doddridge as I've already found him and wife Lydia Jane Hartman Turner; at least one brother Samuel & wife Kesiah are also in Doddridge as are several of the Hartmans we already have pix for)

Spouse of Nancy McConnaha Turner:
William Turner (1794 - ____) ~ can't determine exact date of death as well as where buried, but they did descend from Patriot Mother Kerenhappuch Norman Turner

and also looking for a missing John Bowlan (many spellings) (grandfather of the one we DID find in Doddridge Cemetery) ~ and son Hugh is in Dunlapsville Cemetery.

This is what I know about the elder John Bowlan:

>>Surname: Bowlan [Bolan/Bolen/Bowling/Bolling]
Birth: c.1768-1775 in South Carolina

John's wife was named Elizabeth; his father was also named John, born c.1750-54 in probably South Carolina...he never moved to Indiana.

In the 1820 census, elder John Bowlin was in Jennings, Fayette, Indiana; and by the 1830 census, John "Boland" was living right next to son, Hugh, in Union County (made partly from Fayette County so he probably lived in the same spot), Indiana. He, 50-60, and wife, 40-50, still had another son and eight daughters (or grands) living with them.

I do not find them there by 1840, but there are also no marriage records for a bunch of Bowlan (with any spelling) girls in that time frame in Indiana ~ perhaps they moved on again.

All tracings of this family (Bowlan/Bolling in South Carolina) lead back to the same as have Pocahontas and the two sisters of Thomas Jefferson in their lineage; hopefully I will one day be able to fill in the gaps.<<

Bet you didn't think such a long reply would come back to you. In all my searching for kin of delightful strangers, you're the first who lived so close mine...and I actually figured out that I'd been through Richmond not that long ago. Don't worry, tho...not expecting any better results that I had unless it's just stumbled into at some time. Kind regards to you.

I'm assuming you have pix of your FiL's grave and will post same; if not, I'll see if one of my kids wants to go for a drive before long.

Huddleston at Terrace Grove
I don't live in Belen and saw no office at Terrace Grove when I was there ~ no index online that I can determine either, but I found this posted on ancestry.com by someone named Paul:

>>ID: I33196
Name: Howard Norman Huddleston
Sex: M
Birth: 18 Jun 1902 in Richmond, Wayne, Indiana, USA
Death: 19 Feb 1984 in Los Lunas, New Mexico
Reference Number: 341739 1
Change Date: 27 May 2009 at 15:35
Note: was an artist, he stated he painted pictures of every covered bridge in Indiana as of 1973, Don Cordell has one of these paintings. He lived in Los Lunas, NM (just south of Albuquerque, NM) in 1974. He is buried in Belen, NM. He is buried in Terrace Grove, Belen, NM<<

Cool about Indiana; I have lots of family who still live there.
