|generesearcher||Lavina Maxine Brooks Swagerty|
Hey Andy, you were after some info on this lady "Lavina Maxine Brooks Swagerty" (July 2016)...who you mentioned was your wife's fourth cousin. I don't have an obit but she does appear in the outer-reaches of a family tree I run. The information is very much a work-in-progress but it may give a couple of leads to consider. This is the current view, subject to any better evidence emerging:-
her father -
his mother, Lavina's grandmother -
his mother, Lavina's Gt grandmother -

Andy, don't worry about it. I am not one of those people who keeps track of how many findagrave people they have! If you find out it is who you are looking for, I would be more than happy to transfer management to you, if you would like.

I have a part-time cabin in Dubois and I go to the cemetery to take findagrave.com requested photos. I just saw this tombstone and thought it was very interesting so I put it on findagrave.com. I am sorry but I don't know anything about Mr. Brooks.

According the PA death certificate #94775 Isabelle Brooks was two years old born 30 Oct 1931 and died of shock following burns. She was buried at McKeesport and Versailles. Could you have the wrong Isabelle Brooks? If you cannot access the death certificate, I will be glad to send you a copy. I also have her obituary. Thank you!

Glad to hear from you again. Yes, it has been a while. I have not been doing much genealogy lately (probably the last few years now), but I hope to get on it again. Right now I am editing a book my grandmother wrote. My mother transcribed the manuscripts and now I'm trying to get it in some kind of order. Whew! I have a lot to do.
Thanks for writing, and I'll talk to you again.

I think that it would be fine. Julia Johnsons Obits are on the internet. She is the one who sent it to me for the memorial.

Goldie is not related to me-she is one of the memorials I have added to Find A Grave that I try to link up with as many relatives as I can. Someone had done that with a lot of my relatives before I became a member, and I am trying to pay it forward to future generations. It takes all of us to make a memorial, and a reference for the descendants of all these people.
Thank you for all you do on Find A Grave! Barb

Our emails crossed -- I created a memorial for James A Mitchell this afternoon including a photo of his gravestone. He is buried beside Martha. They are now linked together.

I did a search for "martha mitchell 1909-1997 CA death" and got the following which indicated her birth was in Ohio.
Now the last residence is shown as Burbank, which is right next to Glendale, and is closer to Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills than the Forest Lawn Glendale location. It is not unusual for family to be buried in either of these two locations instead of together in the same cemetery.
You can find the gravesite location for Martha's mother by using the Forest Lawn Grave Finder which lists the gravesites for all the area Forest Lawn cemeteries: http://forestlawn.com/find/
Since I don't know how closely in time these women died, it is likely Martha moved to Burbank some time after her mother passed.
Don't know if any of this helps. If there is anything else I can do for you just let me know.

|Jill||PA Death Certificate|
PA Death Certificates 1906-1924 are now available through Ancestry. You can locate also the indices 1906-1963 on the PA Dept. of Health website under public records. The indices will only give name, location, and date of death. You are right Pennsylvania has been stubborn about giving up old records but there have been new laws passed that have loosened the grip.

Although I have not formally changed the index page yet, I am adding to the Genealogy Pit Stop. You can find the new page here:
www.genealogypitstop.com/forum and you will have to register there. Sorry but it is the only way to keep spam out of the new part.
You should not get any errors though when you try the regular page. Please let me know if you have difficulty again.
Merry Chritstmas and Happy New Year!
