Chuck Kirk
Kirk Family
I am related to Roger Kirk. He is related to Alphonsus Kirk who migrated to America in the late 1690's and landed in Jamestown. He went to Pennsylvania from Jamestown and settle, marrying Abigail Sharpley. Do you have any information on this line of the Kirk Family?

RE: A. Bell
Hi Amber

From the dates of death and death records, I'm certain that I'm descended from this Archibald Bell.

So far the only information I have is for my direct line of Bell's, no listing of brothers and sisters or other children other than Archibald b. 1620. Arkinhome, Parish of Stablegordon, Scotland d. 12 Nov 1707. Trummery, Nothern Ireland.

I have Archibald Bell as being b.1594 in Arkinhome, near the town of Langholm in the County of Dumfriedshire, Scotland. d. July 1668, Tannanghmore, Amagh, Northern Ireland(information I already had from a book that a distant cousin wrote)married to Ann Yuruns 1595-1625 but could've had more than 1 wife?

I have found American branches of the Bell family descended from Archibald Bell - his Grt Grt Grandson Richard b.16 March 1750 settled in Pennsylvania - his Grt Grt Grt Grandson Richard Bell b.1769 married Rachel Moore and settled in New York and his Grt Grt Grt Grandson Abraham (Richard's Brother)b. 1 March 1778 settled in New York as well.

As my Grandfather had 2 daughters my Aunty and my Mum and as far as I know no sons were born so my Mum is the youngest Bell on this branch of the Bell family...the contact with close cousins was lost before I was born but it has been interesting trying to find information about my ancestry (I have tried to concentrate on all lines and so far all except 1 have been in Australia for 7 generations).

I hope that this information is helpful.

Kind Regards

Roxane Humphries

Hi Amber as I'm unable to find your profile and there are no Bell's listed in your surname list...was wondering whether you or your husband are descended from Archibald.

I have just recently received the find a grave hint on

Archibald Bell was my 9th Great Grandfather on my Mother's paternal family - the information I've managed to find is that he was born in Arkinhome, near the town of Langholm in the County of Dumfriedshire, Scotland. From information gleaned from other family members research into the Bell family, the family was given the opportunity to purchase land in Ireland because where they lived in Scotland was close to the Irish border and they wanted to remove peasants from the land, so they offered land to landowners in Scotland!

His 5th Great Grandson Richard Bell, (my Grt Grt Grt Grandfather) immigrated to South Australia from Ireland in 1840.

Any further information that you can give me will be greatly appreciated.

You sent some changes to various Helton's interred at Aberry Helton Cem in Woodbine, Knox Co., KY.
I'm wondering if you are a Helton by birth or marriage? I am a Helton by marriage and would like to see if we are related. My Helton's are from that area of Kentucky.

I don't see a problem with fixing the stone.

It's possible that the stone is safer lying down than to be incorrectly fixed

looking at my records i am a distant relative of most of the older family's n this area.My Hornbeck family came thru Randolph county and they married into the Pringle family . I use Family tree maker to try and keep track of who is who and it gives me my connection to other families.I started trying to trace my family about 1980 and have worked on it since then. I can get most of my direct relatives but hit a brick wall on Samuel S Lane my great great grandfather. About 2000 I started photographing Cemeteries trying to preserve some record of who is buried where in Upshur and surrounding counties and have thousands of digital pictures some only identifiable by a number and where they were taken.i work in the winter time trying to process them by name and cemetery plus any readable data i can find on the stones or written records. I make mistakes and leave out facts about the people and spend a great deal of time trying to correct the information as false information is useless. Sorry I got carried away but I do this for a hobby as well as trying to keep my mind sharp. feel free to contact me with information you might have that i need to add and I will transfer owner ship to any of your direct family members to you upon request

Bowdre Family
Hello Vesta;

I just noticed that you left flowers on the Memorial I created for Drucilla Olivia Bowdre Freeman, and I am wondering what your connection to her is? I see that you have her in your list of family as well.

Drucilla is an ancestor of my Husband, and I am wondering what information you may have on her?

Would love to speak with you - Thanks, Alice

Webbs in Lynastown Cemetery

I'd be interested in knowing whether you have actually seen the gravestones that you list for various Webbs in Lynastown Cemetery. You list the cemetery as located in County Galway, but in fact it is in County Armagh.

RE: Armstrong Surname
Vesta, thank you very much for the transfer. I really appreciate it.

Armstrong Surname
Bynum C. Armstrong (33914705) was born in Surry Co., NC and died in Bingham Twp., Orange Co. His father was Thomas M. Armstrong, son of James Armstrong and Elizabeth Swaim, who were my ggg grandparents. His mother was Nancy L. McBride (48976042), d/o John J. McBride and Elizabeth Gray, also my ancestors. The Thos. Martin buried in Cane Creek cem. is their son. His wife was Nancy Diana Gray, who is probably also buried there.

I can give you more information on these families or I would be happy to have them transferred to me if you are willing. Please contact me at my e-mail address, Thank you very much.

Thank you for your message, Vesta, and I hope all is well with you, too!

A little tip for you
It took me a while to figure this out, so maybe this tip will save you some time when using Family Search Lab. When you type in the location of the person, just put the state, then click on the state and country that pops up under the location box. If you try to type in a town or county, too, it will often say there's no record of that person, for some strange reason.
Also, you can narrow the results by choosing an option like "death/burial", for example, then fill in the year of death, if you know it or if you know the approximate year. There are several options to choose from.

You're very welcome!
So glad I could be of help. If you have any problems or questions about using Family Search Lab, let me know. It can be a little tricky at times. If you want to copy a page like the ones I copied and pasted, just click on "Copy to Clipboard", then you can paste the page to your email or whatever. For a death certificate, just click on it, which will allow you to view it, then click on "Save" to save it to your documents or photos.

I wondered if that signer might be Milam C., but the initial looks like D. to me, so I don't know.

William Lewis Whitehurst
I also just found Lula's father's death certificate. The signer/informant appears to be W.T. Whitehurst (probably his son, William T.)

Ann Whitehurst
Well, the death certificate apparently is for Lula Rowold's mother because I found her again in the 1900 census for Goliad County, Texas and the birthdate is the same. This census shows her name is Ann P. and she is married to William L. Whitehurst. They have these 7 children listed:

Martha V.
Jessie D.

Lula Rowold
Actually, her mother didn't sign the certificate. The signer/informant was M.D. Rowold, but I don't know who that person is.

By the way, I just found a death certificate for an Ann T. McDaniel Whitehurst...might be Lula Rowold's mother? It doesn't have her husband's name. It was signed by a Whitehurst, but the first name of the signer is faded out and unreadable. Here's what is on the certificate:

Name: Ann T. Whitehurst
Death date: 29 Jul 1922
