I don't know how George Dunkle Jr. ended up as her husband. I am a relative and know the relationship. Sometimes things and up in a wrong space accidentally. I would not have added George senior as her husband either as they were never married. Glad you picked it up.

Hi Sharon,

Here is what I know.

This following info is from Roxbury Cemetery Records. The info I have is as much as is given in the record.

Clara A. McGowan died April 15, 1886 parents are William & ELizabeth ( ) McGowan, aged 37 at time of death.

John McGowan no dates Co I, 201st Pa Inf. GAR Marker, no dates or age given

William McGowan April 19, 1819- Aug 18, 1903 b: April 19, 1819 -Aug 18, 1903

Elizabeth d: Dec 28, 1893, she was aged 70 years at death.

All 3 are buried in Roxbury Cemetery

The information given on Johns' memorial page on Find A Grave is from a professional Civil War Historian. I had no interest in debating with him when he ask me to post the info he gave me regarding Johns memorial. He spends his time researching all CW Soldiers and asking owners to update the memorials for him.

I can try to put the names McGowans on my list when I go to Chbg and see if I can find any thing else on them. I can't promise though exactly when that might be. Could be tomorrow and maybe not till next month. If you would like to communicate via regular email that would be great.

Neal Crawford
I am the historian at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Canton, NC, of which Neal was a member. As a member of the community and church, I remember him shouting and singing. Also, I remember him at the altar when I was saved.
Our church is doing a history book and I would love to have a picture of Neal to go in it. Do you have a picture or know of someone that I could get one from?
I would appreciate any information that you could share with me.

RE: Crown Hill Cemetery photo requests
Hello Sharon,

Sorry for the very late reply on your requests. Due to lack of time and so many requests it is hard to complete them all in a timely basis. Also I have been off line for a very long time due to personal reasons.

Thank you for the information for Kenrick Stamey, Ingar Stamey and Mary Gulyas. I have added it to their memorials and a photo of their grave markers.

You noted in your edit that Ingar's parents were Oscar & Millie E De La Gardie. They are also buried at Crown Hill with other family members. The other family members are

Everyone is in a family plot. They are:

1. Oscar A. G. De-La-Gardie (1864 1968)
2. Mellie F. De-La-Gardie (1868 1932)
3. Oscar De-La-Gardie Jr.(1902 1929)
4. Joyce De-La-Gardie (1896 1966)
5. Dician M. De-La-Gardie (1904-1954)
6. Ingar M. (De-La-Gardie) Stamey (1894 1973)
7. Kendrick C. Stamey (1895-1967)
8. Mary Jane (Stamey) Gulyas (1926 1995)

Edward Bryan Gibson, Sr
Hi Sharon,
Yes, you are correct about the photo of Edward, Pauline, Edward, Jr, and James Larry. Edward Sr was my grandfather, who went by "Ed". Please check out additional information on Pauline #83355836. I hope you have seen the photos for Charles Marion Harkins #72916546 that I added. The family photo at top is Charles and Lillie and 5/6 children (l-r kids are Ed, Don, Pauline, Bell, and Vin) taken in 1906 at Railroad Section House in Canton. I have many additional family photos that you might be interested in, including Charles's father Big Dave, Charles's brothers Tom, David, Lloyd, Hershel, and Harley, and even one of Big Dave's mother Nancy Taylor Harkins. Also one of Aunt Effie and Grover Moore with Charles and Lillie. You should email me so that I can send you photos, and perhaps we could meet sometime. Thanks, David

Charles Crawford
Sharon, I deeply apologize for the delay in transferring Charlie's site to you. I thought I had already done it. Been very busy at my job and I guess I overlooked it. I have transferred it to you today. Please note it will be 20 years this coming Monday that he passed away. Take care.

Moore's of NC
Hello Sharon,
While looking at something else saw you were related to the Moore's in NC. Is this the Moore's of Stanly County? Just interested as my Grandmother was a Moore from Norwood. Her mother was a Bunn, but I've not followed that line in my tree very far up. Still need to climb it someday.

RE: Charles P Crawford
Hi Sharon,
Yes the gentleman on the left is Charles. I believe he and my Dad met at the cardiac rehab center there in Ft Myers, Fl. My dad had open heart surgery and then had a multitude of problems over the years til his passing. Charlie liked coming to my parents house to have something to do. I had heard his wife didn't really want to go anywhere and that kind of got him down. My parents moved back here to Indiana in 1989, but kept in touch with him. I really don't know much about him other than that, but maybe I can find out. If you would like I can transfer his site to you, that way you can add things to his obit. Just let me know. :D

Mamma Bear
Her sister was Melba Wetona Ross. Melba was married two times. The last was to George Ross. She was born 4/29/1919---4/9/2008. She is buried at Glen Haven Memorial in California. My sons middle name and his fathers middle name carry on the family name of Nash. I believe Virginia and Melba, along with their family members are buried there. I have pictures of their gravestones I took years ago. Melba had two children who are still alive. Melba and George lived in Burbank, Ca right around the corner from Disney studios. I believe in the in her early years Melba worked at Disney Studio as a "cell painter"?

RE: Charles E & Annie E McGowan
correction posted.
in future, not to be rude, but very often when I visit cemeteries I take scores of photos, later posting them to Find A Grave. Many times, as in this case, the people are not related and thus will not be in my database. I (and probably most other contributors) need at least 1 memorial number to allow finding the record easily. Otherwise it's just a search for sometimes a very common name such as Charles McGowan trying to locate the record.

by the way, do you know Annie's maiden name? If so, I can update her record - 61843129

RE: Picture
Thanks for your question. The photo has two adults on it. They are John James Babb and Calista Gerry (Garry)Babb with their oldest daughter Annie Babb. Some of my Dad's first cousins let me borrow the picture which was
an old tin-type (printed on metal) photo. They told me who the people were. If you click on the
find a grave site of John James Babb, it tells just about all I have about them. Thanks,
David Babb P.S. if you know exactly where John and Calista are biried, I would like to know.
