Conley-Penland Cemetery,Macon Co, NC
Hi Patrick, just an interesting note about this cemetery. George Penland, who is interred in the cemetery, is the one who willed this plot to be a cemetery. He owned all of the land it is sitting on and the surrounding property. Hamilton was his son (also interred there).

Bryant and Delilah Conley's daughter, Nancy, was married to George's son, Robert C., who was my great great grandfather. I have a lot of other Penland's on my profile dating all the way back to 1500s Scotland, where we came from. Take Care! Ron

RE: Conley - Penland Cemetery
OK, after studying both Conley and Conley-Penland, I have jogged my memory.
Conley-Penland is located on a large ranch. It is fenced and we took pictures of every headstone. The page is complete.
Conley is located on a lonely ridge-top, it is covered in briar and blackberry and again we got all of the stones.
They are 2 very different locations. Although they are both off of Tessentee they are several miles apart. Would be happy to transfer any to you, but they are listed properly for where they are located. Just let me know which ones you want. Gail

Mary Hanford

After searching the cemetery section on three separate occasions, I finally found her monument. This is not the Mary I think you are expecting to find. Could you please email me at: so I can explain this to you. This Mary was a child.

Thanks, Ginny

Frank & Georgia Hanford
I have added the parent connections for both Frank & Georgia. I found Frank in both the 1860 & 1870 New York census with both Fred & Elizabeth as his parents, and Georgia was with them in 1870.

Both Frank & Georgia have parks named after them here in Mason City.

There is a second Elizabeth Hanford buried at Elmwood, she doesn't have a stone though, but I found her in the records. She was buried on 14 March 1891, I do not know how old she was, but she is in the same plot as the rest.

Karen Sipe
Frank Hanford
More research would be prudent before adding Abigail as Frank's mother. The Washington State Archives site lists her name as Etta J. Holgate not Abigail J.

Infant Hanford and Mary H. Hanford

I am getting ready to upload photos to the above two Hanfords. The Infant Hanford does list the parents on the stone which you will be able to read with the close-up I am putting on.

Mary H. Hanford's headstone was broken and just repaired and is currently sitting in front of the Maintenance Building in the cemetery. It will probably be returned to its place in the cemetery soon. I will upload the photos that I took this week and try to remember to take another after it is back where it belongs on its burial plot.

Best Regards,
