Botkin - Neff
Ray, We are picking up in our DNA project with FamilyTreeDNA a living male Neff who is matching the Richard Botkin [1771-1853] y-DNA. Any thoughts.

I have a family photo of the Wissel family and Hettie Botkin Wissel is in the photo. Would you be able to name some of the people in the Wissel Family?

RE: McVey verses McVay
I have an edit in for the name change per the headstone and am awaiting a response from the manager. My concern is that the headstone will never be found under the misspelled name by researchers.

Probably will not be out at the cemetery any time soon, since we live over 1,000 miles from it.

Albert Ledoux
RE: Duplicate Memorials Seaman/Seman
I used to be pastor in Beaverdale and Dunlo, and took advantage of that to post all the burial records on Findagrave. Then I photographed the existing stones and matched them to written records. That's how Anna got two records with different spellings, one from the register, and the other one from her tombstone. The fact that John's Findagrave page lacks a stone means there isn't one out there.

All the best,

Father Al Ledoux

RE: Jeanie Armstrong Tahoma Cemetery, YakimaWahington
Thank you the information you sent me on the Brown family. When you originally asked me about Jeanie, I was thinking about a different person. Thus far, the info you sent me agrees with what I have.

You mentioned that you posted a picture to her memorial. I don't see it. Could you send me a copy?

Jeanie's husband Matthew Armstrong is my gggrandfather. He was previously married to Anna Baughman, my gggrandmother. I only recently even found out about Jeanie and have no additional info on her (other than my tree). Any info you could share with me about them would be helpful to me. Thanks

RE: Etta & Oliver Bodkin
I took pictures for Oliver and Sarah also and they have a daughter named Ada next to them if you want me to post those.
Just let me know when you finish creating Ella and the "other" Oliver memorials and I will post whichever ones you want.

RE: Ella & Oliver Bodkin
I would be glad to add Ella and Oliver's pictures but I dont see memorials for them.
I couldnt make out what the fronts say. It could possibly be done if the stones were cleaned but I dont feel qualified to do that. Maybe I can ask my sister-in-law how to do it safely. She does that kind of thing. I will check into it.

RE: Robert Boal
The memorial looks great! I like the idea of listing the references.

RE: Robert Boal
The source of the biography, as well as the portrait I posted, is this:

Past and Present of Marshall and Putnam Counties, by John Spencer Burt and W. E. Hawthorne, Together with Biographical Sketches of Many Prominent and Leading Citizens and Illustrious Dead, The Pioneer Publishing Company, Chicago, 1907

I am unrelated to Robert Boal, but thought I would offer to transcribe his biography, since I had added the portrait.

The online Illinois Statewide Death Index includes the years 1916-1950. It is a searchable data base and here is the link:

This is what the site states about earlier records:

Death records before 1916 were maintained exclusively by the county clerks. Most county clerks did not record deaths until 1877. Copies of death records filed before 1916 may be obtained from the Illinois Regional Archives Depository (IRAD) system if IRAD holds death records for that particular county or from the county clerk in the county where the death occurred.

Here is a link, so that you can search for deaths in Kickapoo Twp. (all that's available online), in Peoria Co.:

Another link to the IRAD system, although the site states it will be down and re-open Aug. 6th:

If the links do not work for you, you can get to all of them via the Illinois State site at:

Then click on "eSearches," then click on "Genealogy"

I am not very close to Peoria, so that is all the information I have about that county. Hope this helps! Thank you for contacting me.

RE: Robert Boal
You are very welcome. Would you be interested in adding a biography to his memorial? It is a bit lengthy, but not TOO lengthy, although some people don't like that. I'd rather not spend time transcribing it, if you aren't interested in posting it, but will gladly do so, if you are willing to post it. Please advise.

I saw that marker. It is right by Richard's marker. It is the same person. There is no cemetery record for L C Botkin.
