RE: Find A Grave Memorial# 31373330
I've been looking at that for a few years, and there are problems. There is an Old Concord Cemetery in Washington County, Illinois. It sits about 1/4 mile off the highway in the location of the old Concord Baptist Church, which is long gone. The new Concord Cemetery is only about a mile or two south in Perry County, and it sits next to the current Concord Baptist Church. So, Concord and Old Concord in Washington Co. needs to be merged and duplicates eliminated. Also, nearby Chapman Cemetery in Perry County, which has about 30 graves, but only about a dozen with stones, somehow has many of Old Concord's graves listed in it erroneously. It currently lists 214 graves.

Holt Cemetery
I am looking for ancestors and see that you took a photo of the Cemetery that my Great Grandfather's grave is located in. The name of the cemetery is Holt Cemetery and it says Eli, KY on the listing. Can you tell me where this is located? I cannot find it on a map anywhere. Thanks.

Jenny

Fergusons in Dixon
By the way, as I was doing Vallee, I am also doing some of the other Fergusons in Dixon. I don't know if they are family to you or not:
Clinton and Joan, and Clinton's parents Leonard and Madeline.

Thank you Alice, I bounce back and forth with mom and dad.. and then I got the email from a cousin, who gave me information. After going back to check, I remembered that I had that information before.. I thought you had told me he was your ancestor as well. No problem.. I don't know about linking; will have to find where they are buried, and that will take some time as well. Thanks again Alice, hope you enjoyed your vacation.

Sarah Margaret Campbell Spencer
Hi again, Thanks for transferring Mary Elizabeth Spencer Davis to me. I am looking for her mother, Sarah Margaret Campbell Spencer's burial site. Her husband Guy Stephen Spencer is buried there in the Hayworth Cemetery with Mary and Cletus. Would you please check the cemetery and see if Sarah is there too. They were cousins of my husband.

Thanks,
Charlene Kimpler

Relative at Holt Cemetery (Russell Co.)
Ma'am,

I recently have been researching my ancesters and I believe my Great-Great Grandma is buried at Holt Cemetery in Russell County. I don't want to add a memorial page saying she is at Holt Cemetary in Russell County if she is not in fact buried there.

I noticed that you added Holt Cemetary in Russell County to the website. Are you close to the cemetery? If you are located nearby, is there any way you could help me confirm wether or not she is buried there?
I can't begin to express how much it would mean to me.

I have been in the Air Force for the past seven years. Since my father passed away New Year's 2005 I have realized how much family means to me and so I began the extensive undertaking of researching my ancestors.

If you are willing, here is my Great-Great-Grandmother's information:

Emma Marcum (poss. divorced from Mack Hughes)
BORN Sept. 28, 1867
DIED Oct. 8, 1927
Father: Frank Clemmons
Mother: Jane Clemmons (maiden name unknown)

Appreciatively & Anxiously Awaiting Your Response,
Rachael Hughes

Family Farm, Ingle, Russell, KY
I believe it was a descendant of William Cornell Stephens, but my notes say he was probably buried on the farm in Russell County.
What do you think ?
I guess we've not written to each other before, but almost all of my info comes from family of those buried.
Maybe together we can solve a few mysteries of this family.
Thanks for writing.

RE: Anna Templeton
Alice - I do not have a picture. When I visited the cemetery, I think I took pictures of all the tombstones that were legible. I have one picture of an unidentified stone but the numbers on the stone do not match that of Anna. The listing for Anna comes from the Tombstone Inscriptions of Shelby Co., IL, Vol. 1, which was compiled by Ed Boedecker in the middle 1970's. Many of the stones that were legible then are no longer legible. Eileen

Alice,

Thanks so much. I only had partial dates in my family database and when I was at Square Oak I missed several headstones. I will correct dates and again thanks.

There is a problem with my email server so I have to answer your email this way. I found the list at the Mill Springs Visitors center. It is 9 pages long. Since my email is not working properly I can FAX the list to you if you can give me a fax number. You can email this to me. I can receive but not send at this time. If you don't have a fax number I will email it as soon as I get my email fixed.

Let me know what you want me to do.

RE: Joshua Roy
Dear Alice
I did some additional checking and found that there is another list of those buried at Mill
Springs Nat Cem. This list has the names of many of the unknowns. After the battle that took place there the dead were burried in their camps. A year or two later these burials were consolidated at what is not the national cemetery. The names were known and recorded at their first burial but many individual identifications could not be made when the bodies were moved.

There is a man buried there named Joshua RAY died 13 Dec 1861 who may be the man you are looking for. He was a private in the 3rd KY Infantry. Unfortunately he is also listed among the unknown. I now have a copy of this list. Let me know if there is anything else I can do to help.

Findagrave went in and merged it, so that you didn't have to make the changes. They just did it earlier today, after I had sent messages to others.

Thanks again for checking.
