RE: Stella M Sprague Presley
Mother was a Wentworth, direct line to Elder William Wentworth 1615-1697. Father is a Sprague born in Chaumont, N.Y..

Yes, we're probably cousins, several times removed. We are in the same generation by the way!
Best to you always,

Carol Jean Sprague

Re: Clarence E Mason aka Claude R Gotham
I think I know why he changed his name, he ran off with Rose who was a wife of Wallace Bancroft. Wallace was trying to sue him for damages of alienation & criminal conversation. I gleaned this information from newspapers.

Burial sites
Hello Thelma, I'm researching the Gilbert side of my family and wondered on some of these entries it will state a cemetery they are in yet I cannot find proof of that family member buried there. As these are older dates in the 1600's how is it being verified that they in fact were buried in that particular cemetery. Thanks

RE: Sylvia Slate
Hi Silvia,
You did a good job making my suggested changes to Sylvia’s memorial. I would rather do it myself. But having someone else make my requested changes is the best next thing.
I will be working in this area for a while and will be requesting memorial changes for other people and for Sylvia.
If you have any questions or comments, do not hesitate to ask.
Best wishes,
Jerry Deckard

Joseph Mellen
So many of us are stuck at Joseph Mellen as father on Walter Mellen 1850 Census. I find this tidbit and hope for a discussion.

Samuel Bemis, son of David, with his wife, Elizabeth, came from Arlington, Mass., and located in the Wardwell settlement about 1806. He had born to him three sons and three daughters, viz.: Alvin, Chauncey, Samuel, Jr., Lydia, Clara, and Betsey. The latter died at the age of 19 years. Samuel, Jr., was born in Ellisburgh in 1811, and was reared upon a farm. He married, first, Nancy, daughter of Joseph Mellen, who bore him three sons, viz.: Joseph A., of Ellisburgh; Schuyler H., who died in Adams in 1875; and Samuel M. His wife died in 1845, and for his second wife he married, in 1846, Angeline, daughter of Thomas B. Kenyon, who died in 1878. Mr. Bemis died in 1883. Joseph A. Bemis was born in 1833, and was reared upon a farm. He married Ophelia L., daughter of David and Betsey (Randall) Holley, in 1857, by whom he has had one son and three daughters, viz.: Henry H., who died in 1882, Cornelia, Elizabeth, and Mary. Mr. Bemis located upon the David Holley farm, on road 90, in 1858, and there resides at the present time.

RE: Eleanor O'Connor Vincent
Hi Thelma,
Sorry it's taken me so long to respond to you. I hardly ever log onto this site, although I frequently look at it. I definitely want to get in touch with you. Yes, my husband seems to be related to Eleanor O'Connor Vincent through her father's line. I would love to learn more about Eleanor's suffragist activities. I can share my genealogy info with you - I have traced my husband's family tree as well as my own. He has lots of relatives in Jefferson County, NY and the Mohawk Valley. Some of his ancestors were also Moyers, as well as O'Connors. You can e-mail me at Verizon.net . My userid is PurcellJE .

I deleted my sideways pictures. I guess I need to crop more. I tried cropping and still they were sideways.Ugh! I noticed though that when you click on the sideways picture and open it up to full page it is right side up. Weird! Happy Halloween!

George and Blanche Matteson
Hello Thelma!

I was able to find George and Blanche for you. I have downloaded their grave pictures for you but have to apologize for them being sideways. I have no idea why they did that. I tried turning them before I downloaded them thinking Find A Grave would tip them and they would be upright but Find A Grave over corrected and turned them on their side again. If you want I can send them directly to you and you can monkey around with them and re post them to the memorials.

It seems like Blanche is in the Phillips family plot and George is with the Mattesons.

RE: Joseph & Purley Howard
Thelma,

Thank you for transferring. I will take good care of them.

Being from Jefferson, New York, and having Howards in your line I would be surprised if we were not related. Joseph had a brother Jahaza and I just participated in a Y-DNA Howard project with six other cousins, four from Joseph's line and three from Jahaza's line and confirmed that we are all descendants of Joseph and Jahaza's father John Howard.
