You have the correct stone. I contacted the baby's grandmother that lives in Colorado. Thank you for all your help. We both live to far away to get a picture of the stone. I really appreciate your help. Thanks Dagna

Good luck with your research. Can be frustrating but very rewarding at times.

I prefer using the edit tab to make corrections or edits. I am in no way related so don't mind transferring them either. It'll be easier for you to add info as you find it

Rosie Atwood
Chris, an update to the last message.

I misspoke on Samuel Conover. He does appear to be there, but the stone pictured doesn't have a name. Francis Atwood does not appear in the book of readings. As far as Rosie Atwood, no stone has been found for her in any readings of 2nd Mount Pleasant. The bare ground that I spoke of that could possibly be her is located next to William Atwood. It is just a guess on my part.

RE: Atwood cemetery
Chris,

In 1999 into 2000, every known cemetery was read In Johnson County. Books were produced based on not only the 2000 readings, but every known reading done in the County between 1932 and 2000. Adding the information from the earlier readings was very important, because a stone may have been there or readable in 1932, but by 2000 be gone or unreadable. In those cases, the information from 1932 was denoted, and the fact that the stone was no longer there or not readable was also denoted for any given person that this applied to. In 1999 Atwood Cemetery was read and this is what was put in the notes for it: Atwood Cemetery, located 1/2+ mile east of 700E and 400S near I-65. Cemetery is on the south side of the road in a wooded area in the middle of a field. At one time, this was a livestock area so stones are down. Extremely poor condition. Only 3 intact stones were found in 1999, but there may be more under the briars and poison ivy" You may see names added to the cemetery on Find a Grave, but that doesn't mean that they are there. Many times people guess and put someone in a cemetery without knowing if they are there or not. I would imagine that in the 1932 reading many more stones were standing and the ones that were, were recorded and are in this book. No Samuel Conover or Frances Atwood appear in any reading done. That doesn't mean that they aren't there, just that if they are no stones have been found for them. It is useless to put up photo requests at cemeteries such as this one that are in so bad shape as they may as well not exist. Hope this helps you.

Chris,
I think you are right about the money being tight. I assume she is in the bare ground next to his stone.

Atwood
Chris,
I was able to get photos of some of the Atwoods but not all. Because Stella died in 1877 she was in a different, older section of the Cemetery than her parents. Rosie could not be found. There is bare ground next to the grave of her parents, and I believe that is where she is, but there is no stone for her. There have been many readings of this cemetery between 1932 up to 2000, the last one, and no stone had ever been recorded for Rosie.

Chris,

Thank you, however I still will cite your name to this photograph when I post it. If others are too ignorant not to do the right thing then what else can we do.

This way others will know how wonderful it is to have someone like yourself and others that volunteer for this type of work. People that go through great lengths to help others find their families graves and photograph their tombstones. I really appreciate volunteers like yourself, great people

Your latest message to me talks about the grandparents of Helen (Smith) Seeley. Is there something specific that you are suggesting be added to her Find A Grave memorial? Thanks.

RE: Seeley
Are you referring to Helen G. Seeley, Find A Grave Memorial # 151020527? According to the SSDI, there was a Helen Gladys Seeley with the same birth and death dates. There is a Seeley public family tree at Ancestry.com which lists a Helen Gladys Smith with the same dates and whose parents were Sidney Chappell Smith and Anna Eleanor Hoff. Let me know if this information applies to Memorial #151020527 and I will update it. Thanks.

I have no idea what the names of the other Silha family members that could be in the cemetery lot. Does the cemetery have this information on a website, as I know of only one so far that does that and it is in Omaha, Nebraska? Thanks for your assistance.
