|Dale Bryan||Powell family|
One of my ancestors was Lurany Powell, sister of your Calvin Powell.
She apparently married her cousin, Stephen Powell.
Their daughter, Lucy Sheldon Powell, married Cary Burdick.
These were my g-g-g-grandparents.
I would appreciate your help in clarifying generations of the family after the "Silver Book".

Hello I am researching my fathers family. His name was patrick Daugherty and passed in 2013. I saw you had posted pics on my great-great-great-great grandmother Elizabeth Grauel Sayler 1811-1893.
Are we related?

Hi, Cathy, it's me again,hoping this msg finds you well. I have a "knot" on my tree and think you might know about it. In Leslie McLaughlin's Our Book of Finley's and their Kinfolk Families, on page 311 there is mention of a Hannah Wierman who might or might not have been married to our Edward Gaffney. I cobbled her onto my line and lo and behold, if I have actually the right person, she is the mother-in-law of Dolly Madison.......who was previously married to a Todd, an atty from Philly. (I think).
Could you please go my tree and take a peek. Not sure how to contact you on Ancestry.com so chose this venue.
Susan McLaughlin (sister of Leslie the author)

|Deb S||Charles "Oscar" Wilkins|
Is Charles your ancestor? If so I wonder if you have any additional information on the family. My great grandfather was an adopted child of Thomas and Cynthia Welbourn of Anita Iowa. Alva died young and under tragic circumstances. There is a newspaper article that states he was the son of Oscar Wilkens, and that he came to live with the Welbourn's at the age of three. I am trying to connect Alva with his biological parents as well.

|Melanie Howe||Henry Travis Maynard|
I was just reading your memorial page for Henry. My great-great grandfather was Henry's brother, Abraham, buried in Hampshire, IL. I was wondering if you have any info on their parents, Isaiah & Esther (Travis) Maynard. Another contributor sent me a link for an Esther Travis Maynard buried in Orth Cemetery, Boone County, IL. I was unaware that either of the parents came to Il. but I guess this is possible as I read that Henry lived in Belvidere for a time. Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks, Melanie Howe

|Christina ||Effie Voorus in Ferncliff Cemetery|
I recently filled a photo request for Effie and saw that her sister's (Keziah)memorial mentioned another sister in Springfield, Ohio. It stated that she was married to a D. L. Adelsperger. I did find several Adelspergers in the cemetery and went ahead and photographed them as well.
I don't know if they are connected to your individuals or if you are interested in this information. They are located in the Ferncliff cemetery in Springfield:
Sec P lot 115
Dow Adelsperger d1923
Neal Adelsperger d1918
Theresa Adelsperger d1940

|Anonymous||Find A Grave Memorial# 148572623|
I think this particular grave doesn't belong to Sophia Daily Maynard, but to her son Sumner Maynard.
If you'll look at the reference "Our People And Where They Rest," James W. Tyner, Maxine Tyner and Alice Tyner Timmons, University of Oklahoma, Norman, OK. 1969-1985 Volume 6, p. 26, under "Eucha White Cemetery." (Can be viewed at familysearch.org), you'll see that there is a S. Maynard grave #22 (1852-1935) right next to Mary E Maynard which is grave #23. Sumner Maynard was born in 1852 and married Mary Ellen Cavener.
I'm not sure when Sophia Daily Maynard died or where she is buried, but I do know that she was living with her daughter May and son-in-law W.F. Childers in 1910 (per the 1910 census) in Buffalo, McDonald Co, MO.
Would/could you update Memorial 148572623 to reflect it is for Sumner Maynard instead of Sophia.

|Charmaine Frandsen||RE: Murland Searight & his wife, Virginia (Ginny).|
Cathy, Thank you very much for responding and to help me find more information.
For one I am doing research for my father's adopted parents and family but I am also interested in trying to find some information of my father's biological parents. But since he had parents who loved him and wanted him I call them his parents.
My father - Paul William Mehl born in New York Sept 4, 1931 (does Sept 4, 1989. His parents who adopted him were:
Father: William John Mehl 1896-1937
Mother: Florence Elizabeth Tully 1899-1959
Son (adopted): William John Mehl, Jr 1924-1942
Daughter: Virginia (Gunny) Mehl 1926-2015
Son (my father): Paul William Mehl 1931-1989
I know that Virginia married Murland Searight but found in his obituary that he preceded in death by his wife Virginia.
More than 30 years ago I was told that my father's real name was Robert Burns Rahill. His biological mother's name was Marguerite Rahill from Ireland and Thomas Riley from Ireland.
I appreciate any information.

|Susan McLaughlin||RE: Your Grandmother:|
Cathy, your gracious message means so much to me. I want also thank you for acknowledging my sister's book as a resource. She worked so very hard and for so very long to produce it. You are a serious researcher and your acknowledgement has meaning. Keep your insightful interest as the world needs sound historians......those who keep the stories, and keep them well.

|Susan McLaughlin||Sarah Matilda Watson 1856-1892|
Dear Cathy, I have corrected the information (birthplace) and provided a bio which I would love for you to "grab" and hold. She is my Great Grandmother, mother of Marcus Price Ellis who married Myrtle Finley.....of the Kansas branch of Finleys. My sister, Leslie McLaughlin, is the author of Our Book of Finleys and their Kinfolk Families. It would be so great if you could pick up the renewed information on Sarah, as little was known until recently about her and her origins. I know you will hold it well, being an avid researcher. Thank you for the homage on her profile. It means a lot to me. Susan
