Thank you so much. I am trying to add obits to the Rowell Cemetery. I go to church at the Center Missionary Baptist Church their at Rowell and my husband has alot of family buried there. Just trying to up date the Cemetery. Again thank you so much.

I was just so excited to find Williams and Mary. Thank you for having them ready for me when I finally found her! She had divorced my GGG Grandfather, unusual for back then and that's why I couldn't find her. Oddly, she and my GG Grandfather died the same year in Arkansas and Texas. I hope Williams made her happy as she had apparently married perhaps a spoiled rich boy born on Bellevue Plantation. From what I know he did what he wanted, when he wanted and how he wanted! He had driven his children away.

My GG Grandfather went to get her and two of his sisters but the GGG came after them and got the girls back on the long trip from TN to TX. So you see why I was so glad to bring her back into the fold. Thank you so very sweetly. Nancy

1925 - 2002
Jerry Venable, 77, of Sheridan formerly of North Little Rock died September 20, 2002 at his home. He was born September 20, 1925. Jerry was a Gospel Music Singer formerly with The Venable Quartet. He started his Gospel singing career in the early 1950s with KARK Radio doing the noon show and then to KARK TV, also doing the noon TV show with the Melody Boys. He then formed The Venable Quartet with T. O. Miller, Gerald Williams and Fred Smith and was on KATV in the 1960s that ran 8 years. The Venable Quartet was on Monday-Friday at 6:15 each evening. The group preformed in Arkansas, Oklahoma and Kansas.

During the 1970s and 1980s he lived in Kansas managing and/or owning radio stations KFRM, KFNF and KTOW. He joined The Plainsmen Quartet, which toured with great county music artists, Roy Clark, Mel Tellis, Hank Snow, Connie Smith and many others. Jerry also performed as "The Ole Timer" in Nashville and currently with Mac Sanders at KBHS Radio in Hot Springs, which he was still doing Monday-Friday at the time of his death.

The Venable Family, Doyle and Wallace Venable was well known for the Annual Levy Day that was held for 42 years at the Venable Lumber Company. With The Venable Quartet performing for the Political Candidates and the large crowds that gathered.

Gospel music was his life and he always wanted the young and old to enjoy with either the Songs of Faith or Christian Comedy.

Survivors include his wife, Ruthe (White) Venable; two sons and daughters-in-law, Tony and Carol Venable of North Little Rock, Brent and Jeannine Venable of Denton, Texas; two daughters and son-in-law, Beverly and Jim Ross of North Little Rock, Janice Fisher of Wichita, Kansas; step-son and wife, Robert and Roberta Jenning of San Antonio, Texas; step-daughter and husband, Roni and John Rummel of Prescott, Arizona; 16 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lesley Venable and two brothers, Doyle and Wallace Venable.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday at North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Busch and Rev. Dan Brand officiating. Burial will be in Center Grove Cemetery in Sheridan. Arrangements by North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main, 758-1170, online obituary and guest register
