RE: Anna Belle Stauffer Sykes
That's not close enough for findagrave's policy guidelines, but they are just guidelines, not rules, and that's close enough for me. Will try to remember to do this tomorrow. Am recovering from major surgery so if I don't, please do not hesitate to send me a reminder.

Thank you for your suggestions. Are you related to her and if so, how? if you are related to her, would you prefer to have the management of her memorial transferred to you? I am only distantly related to her, by the marriage of my maternal grandfather's sister to a Sykes. I believe I only made the memorial because my family and I had just taken photos of all the Sykes' gravestones we found in that cemetery, not knowing how all of them are related.
Do you know who her parents are? Another sister of a great-grandmother and her daughter both married Stauffers, father and son, in that area. If they are related to Annie Stauffer Sykes, I'd like to make that connection on my tree on
Just let me know one way or the other about the transfer. Thanks again!!

Thanks for the note about two burials for Evalyn. I made a note on her page (made by me) that another page exists, with its number. Believe it or not, this is the second case like this that has turned up this week. And, I had another last summer, all of them in Kansas. I'm sure one page should be designated a cenotaph, but I don't know which one.

Thank you for sending the maiden name and marriage corrections. They have been added to her page.

Thank you very much for the correction. I've already changed her name, and linked her to her husband. I think I had gotten the "wrong" last name off of a marriage record on-line. Lawrence is my husband's 1st great grand Uncle. My husband and I traveled to the Dryad Cemetery several years ago to see the town where his grandmother was born, and a lot of the relatives are buried.

RE: Leota Woods Gash
Glad I was able to help correct your info. for Leota. You can delete your photo request since she is not a family member of yours. That would keep others from taking and adding a photo to my memorial until I get the time to take one myself. Have a nice day, Farm Girl from MO.

I have added her obit to her memorial. You may copy it from there if you like. I will take a photo of her grave the next time I am in La Plata and add it to her memorial. Glad to help any time. Have a nice day, Farm Girl from MO.

Leota (Wood) Gash #46348101
I noticed your request for a photo of Leota (Wood) Gash's stone at La Plata, MO. and the attached note. Leota died in 2009 not in 2000. I have a copy of her obituary in front of me so I know the correct death date. She is also a distant relative of my husband's.

Yes, I have found mistakes on tombstones but most errors have been in birthdates and an occasional spelling of a name. Also find errors on death certificates and in obits. You would be surprised at how many I have come across. I would have been happy to let you know the correct death date for Leota if you would have left me a message on my contributor page. I will try to fullfill your photo request the next time I am at the cemetery.

RE: Wm. M. Balmer - Burial Location
Yes, that is always the mysteries of cemeteries. Curiosity when husband and wife are not together.

Glad you had a good trip and yes, always nice to come home.

Keep "graving". It's addicting.

RE: Wm. M. Balmer - Burial Location
You're very welcome. I emailed for the obit shortly after I saw that he wasn't at New Tacoma and it takes a couple of months to get it back. Hope you had a good trip out here. Take care.

Wm. M. Balmer - Burial Location
Hello, I located an obituary for Mr. Balmer and the funeral home that handled the burial looked up his information and found that he is buried in Mountain View, (Lakewood) Pierce County, Washington. Be sure you select the one in LAKEWOOD. His location is Space 10, Lot 265, Garden Court.

Please move him to that cemetery and if you are the person who requested a photo of his memorial, you could do that again.

Hope this helps.

The only listing in Huntsville Cemetery is for Lawrence and Nora Askew. Since John was an infant I would be surprised if there was a grave marker or if there was would be unreadable.

RE: Orlena Moody Jeffreys Smith
Hi Jan,

From what I have seen, lots of people from MO go to Arkansas to get married, so you may want to check there for her marriage to Mr. Smith. Will transfer her over to you shortly.

Find A Grave contributor Jan has made a suggestion to you regarding your Find A Grave memorial for Orlena Smith.
Link to memorial:
Link to contributor profile:

Their suggestion:
Orlena Smith should be listed as follows:

Orlena E. Moody Jeffreys Smith.

Moody was her married name - she was married to William Wallace Jeffreys from 1847 until his death in 1874.

I have searched for years and never figured out who Mr. Smith is.

Hi Jan,

I got your message about Orlena. The info in the bio was provided by someone else and I copied and pasted it to her. I have no information on her and am not related. I will make the correction to her bio about the maiden name.

Thanks so much and have a great day.

Dear Jan,
What a wonderful picture of my great grandmother Stauffer. I visited her in the Springfield nursing home she lived in, and she once came with her daughter Alfreda Tucker Cresson to Iowa for a week.
Would you have any other pictures of her that you might scan? I have a picture of Clara with Alfreda in a hollyhock patch if you are interested. Thank you again for sharing this picture.
