Hi Jen,

In regards to your question about Mary's maiden name, unfortunately I don't have any further information about this memorial.

You might want to contact the cemetery directly or perhaps the historical society in which the cemetery is located as they may have additional details.

Thank you
Anne

Re: James Pringle
Not related. I finished my family, the husband's family, everyone's family. LOL, so now I add to Find A Grave and search families for fun.

This is what I know about James. He was probably born in Flagg, Illinois, which is a town in Ogle County and where the family was enumerated in 1860, five miles between Flagg and Rochelle. Isabelle appears to have died between 1860 and 1870. The 1860 census shows James was in Flagg. I found the family in 1860 and 1870; Isabelle was not included in the 1870 census. By 1900, James lived in Clinton, Iowa. The name was transcribed Tingle. He had a son named Fred, he was born in April 1883, in Illinois. It is going to drive me crazy trying to find out what happened to Fred? He was last seen in Iowa.

************************

Illinois Statewide Marriage Index has a listing for:
PRINGLE, JAMES & MCKINNEY, ELLA 1878-05-07 / 00004734 WHITESIDE (County, which is 60 miles west of Flagg).

Do you have the marriage information for James and Isabella? I think they married in Kane County 2 July 1852.
PRINGLE, JAMES ROE, ISABELLA 1852-07-02 1742 KANE

************************

James and Ella lived in Fulton, Illinois during 1880. This is in Whiteside County. Fred was probably born there.

Helen Marie Pringle, b. 20 April 1895, Clinton, Iowa
"Pauline" Pringle, b. 3 March 1899 in Clinton, Iowa. Parents were identified as James Pringle and Ella McKinan.

Would you mind changing the wording of the following note?

"Birth place given by member #47009979, I have found no record, brother John born a year later was in Rochelle, so this is probably correct."

James birth location came from Isabelle's death record, please see below. Thanks. TJP

RE: Pearl Pringle
I was thinking she is the Pearl we are looking for. I have researched Chicago cemeteries for years and have never heard of a cemetery with that name. I looked for her obit and didn't find one. I think she is the daughter. Could add her, with a disclaimer. Port Gravel is not a name I have heard for medical assignment either. It would help, if I could see the actual document, but Springfield is a long way. After I sent the correction to Ellen's maiden name, McKenna/McKinney, I found the birth records showing McKinney (sp). Saw that you changed the surname. Do you think maiden name should be the McKinney name, since that name was the earliest one used(?), depending on when the birth records were filed, of course.

RE: Frances J Pratt
It is your right as a descendant to keep this memorial, so I have no issues with that.

As far as sources, although I may have never sent you an edit before, most folks here from 12 years of mutual participation know I never send an edit without extensive research, consulting vital records, census, and many other resources. :-)

I've been so busy and really hope that I had answered your question on the death date for Chauncey Shurtleff. Just in case I did not send you the information you needed, here is the inscription on the headstore. It reads: Chauncey J. Yes, I got the maiden name Remington from the California Death Index record for her son Thomas Henshaw, however if you have seen a marriage record where her maiden name was Ranlett, I consider that far more reliable and have changed the record to match. Thanks for asking and explaining your source for her maiden name.
