Jacob Sawatzky
Hi. I walked the Mennonite Cemetery twice but found no marker for Jacob Sawatzky. If his burial is Lushton there is another cemetery near Lushton about five miles south of the Mennonite cemetery. Could he be buried there? I was intending to go there sometime this next week. John Quiring

Marjorie, Thank you for the information. I had 1884 in at least 2 of my resources but I think "Grandma" used the other year so I went with it. Now I relooked at things and changed the date.

RE: Just passing through....
Noticed you have a lot of Meade burials listed. My mother in law is from Meade and her parents were Jacob J and Lizzie Bartel. Maybe you are related to my husband, too! Bitikofer is not a long past Menno name but his grandmother was a Loucks from Canton, KS.

RE: Just passing through....
Cool, that would make us like 4th or 5th cousins~ I have the Peter and Aganetha Wiens Neufeld (maternal grandfather) book,Bernhard Kroeker Book (maternal grandmother) and a Toews book (also maternal grandmother). I also got a ton of pictures of the Kroeker ancestors through my grandmother.

Where did you grow up? My mother married outside Menno-dom but my dad was a Mennonite pastor with the GCs.

I mean to look up GRANDMA sometime, but I have determined that I am not closely related to my husband, which is the important thing.

Just passing through....
Abraham Friesen is a great-great- uncle through the Kroeker line (his wife Mary is my great-great aunt). The family history with the Galveston Hurricane is an interesting one. I'm not sure if Mary was a part of that, or was already married to Abraham. I think I may have some old pictures of them, as I've inherited a lot of the Kroeker/Wiens photos through my grandmother and aunt. Mary's sister Katherine Wiens was my great-grandmother through my maternal grandmother Catherine Neufeld and my mother Helen Coon. It's the Mennonite game!!! Do you have a thick cardboard genealogy book? :)

RE: Abraham F. Friesen 125521148
The information I have on Sara Sawatzky, the first wife of Abraham F. Friesen is that she was born on 29 Dec 1858 in South Russia, immigrated 17 July 1874 arrived in New York, NY. Married Abraham F. Friesen on 3 Dec 1876 and died 4 Aug 1895 in Limon, Colorado.
I have his second wife, Maria Kroeker, married Abraham F. Friesen on 9 Nov. 1895 in Colorado and died in December 1937. It didn't say where.

Thank you for your information. There are two prominent Winton, CA men; sons of Abraham F. Friesen and Maria Kroeker Friesen. I like to see the families connected. I will contact the manager of Mary Friesen's memorial to make sure she is the same person. Thank you.

Abraham F. Friesen 125521148
I did a search for Abraham F. Friesen, everything matched, dates of birth/death places. Except the name of his wife. The California Mennonite Historical Society has his first wife as Sara Sawatzky with 11 children and his 2nd wife, Maria Kroeker with 12 children. I wanted to connect a couple of children to Abraham F. Friesen and Maria Kroeker Friesen.
Was Agnes a 3rd wife? I'd like to send you more detail of children if I could have your email address.

Thiessen edits in Beatrice, Nebraska appreciated
Thank you so much for sending these as edits--I missed them entirely when they were in the Flowers. I couldn't figure out how it was that the wife was buried a half-continent away, but when I saw when her husband died, and that her daughter was buried in Calif., and read the bio information in the Flowers, I understood. If you have obituaries you would like added to any memorials that I have made, please send them to me via Edits (that bottom suggestion for "Other") and I will be happy to include them. Also, I am bumping up against the limit of 20 photo requests, so I would really appreciate if you could make some requests for these First Mennonite Cemetery, Gage County, Nebraska Thiessens. Sometimes photographers are good to let the manager know if there are some things to Edit because of the tombstones, but otherwise the managers may never know that there even are tombstone pictures.
Again, thank you much.

I will photograph this grave and any others at Beth David if you contact the cemetery and get the location (sec, block, row, grave). There are over 100 photo requests in this cemetery and I won't go into the office for that much info.

Do you know his wife's name?

RE: Janice Wall Friesen
You are very welcome. This was my first effort at photographing headstones; I learned a great deal! Next time out I will take a stiff brush to clean the face and an umbrella to protect from the dappled light. If you would like a clearer photo than I got on my first try, I would be happy to retake it.

Maria Wiens Doerksen
Rev Martin Doerksen (my great great great grandpa) had 2nd marriage to Maria Wiens. They had several children together. Where does the Harms name come in? Was Maria previously married to a Harms? That is where the picture on Isaac Harms Memorial shows he had 5 FULL sisters. I have names of Martin and Maria's children born of their union together but not the Harms know that my grandpa is also Pete Heidebrecht!!! (Yeah, not the same one) In that Harms siblings picture - is that all the children Maria Wiens had before marriage to Martin? I am trying to work on these earlier Doerksen generations for our Doerksen reunion in May 2014 at Inman Ks. Thank you for helping me understand.
