I took the photo of the Maize stone. As you can see it is weathered badly. If, assuming Wm. is buried next or near his wife, his grave is unmarked. I agree Wm. is more than likely buried near or next to his wife, however, his grave is unmarked. Gale Yocum

William & Isabelle Grear
Hello...I was looking at the memorials for William Grear (25785102) and his wife Isabelle Grear (71584597) and seen you are their descendant. I was hoping you could shed some light on something for me. William and Isabelle were living in Highland Township, Lewis county, Missouri according to the 1880 census. Listed in the household of William were Edward Jackson, age 18 and George Jackson, age 16, both stepsons of William Grear. Do you know if these were children of Isabelle from a previous marriage? I found a marriage record of William Greer and Lee Jackson in Macon county, Missouri on April 29, 1866. Is Lee the same woman as Isabelle? Any insight you could give me would be most helpful...Thanks!

RE: Almyra Greer memorial
Laura, I found an answer in the Hurdland items in the Edina Sentinel, November 19, 1903 that clearly gives IOOF as burial location. I still don't have an answer as to why I had her at La Plata--obviously an error. I have moved my Almira to Hurdland. Take a look at her memorial and tell me how you want to play this through. I am open to suggestions. Pam

RE: Almyra Greer memorial
Well, I don't have a good answer for you. I did not find your memorial for Almyra Wakefield Greear, since the last name had the "a" extra in it. I did not locate it because I was only looking for Greer. Let me try looking for an obit, perhaps that will tell me if I was given wrong information somewhere along back then. Either way I will request a merge, but first I want to find the proper burial location. I do know that photos have been pretty much all done at Hurdland, there is not an Almyra or Almira there by any last name, so let me see if I can find the answer that will explain a little more. Of course that is a long time back, but perhaps luck will prevail and I will find one. Hang in there! Pam

RE: John Sweetser
You shoulda heard me hoot and holler with joy when I found him. Unfortunately being broken, I had to rebury his marker. I know some reputable restoration people if funds are available to put him back together.

Larry Smith
Sam Myers, Lane Cem., Franklin Co., KS
This person perhaps was my GGF's younger bro. I been trying to locate his grave for long time. Sam Myers married Catherine Larr in Williams Co., OH, ca 1877. They moved to Norton Co., KS ca 1879. It appears Catherine's parents and her siblings moved to Norton Co. also. Arthur O. Myers born to Sam & Catherine in Norton Co. in 1979. Apparently a son Irvin Ellsworth Myers born to them in Franklin Co.,KS in 1882. Both Arthur and Irvin are buried Lane Cem.,Franklin Co., KS. Also Catherine Larr Myers Adkinson is buried Lane Cem. She later married Henry Adkinson after Sam departed.
Samuel E. Meyers lived in Meade Co., KS in 1900. Census shows him born Jan 1855, OH, divorced. He lived next dwelling to his older bro. Jacob Meyers who was also divorced. Jacob married Hannah Larr in KS, in 1882. Hannah being an older sister to Catherine Larr. So brothers married sisters and then both couples divorced..Interesting! Do you have any thing to prove that Sam Myers is the father of Arthur and Irvin; all buried in Lane Cem??

Ben & Olive Sweetser

They may or may not have been moved to Green Lawn. The last time they did sewer work at North Market they removed 27 remains to a mass grave in Section R at Green Lawn.... Are they John's parents?

John Sweetser Madison Truro
I left this message for the volunteer that reported the problem:
John Sweetser is buried in Madison Truro Cemetery. His stone was above ground in 1945. Unfortunately I have not found it yet. I am convinced there are literally hundreds of stones buried just below the surface. Ohio Exploration did not look below the surface. Here are some I found:

The stones I find, I chart where they are and rebury them til a qualified conservator can properly conserve them. I will keep an eye out for John, do not worry about him. Thanks-Brent

Benjamin P. Schmidt
If you follow the line from Benjamin, it goes to his son Tobias. Tobias's son Peter (Pete) T. Schmidt was my grandfather ( My dad's father).
Dad's name was Alfred P. Schmidt.
The Koehn's and Schmidt's around the Montezuma area are cousin's of mine.

Benjamin P. Schmidt
I noticed that you have Benjamin as being buried in the Lone Tree Cemetery near Galva with Anna his wife.
Benjamin was my Great-great grandfather.
Do you have any documentation to show this or church records?
I also noticed that Eva Nachtigal (Tobias Schmidt's wife) is buried in the cemetery but there is no stone for Tobias.
Do you have any more info on the families listed above.
I am related to the Koehn's and Schmidt's in western Kansas also

Katherine Wittig Wagner
I took the pictures of Katherine's grave several years ago. She is my Great-grandmother. I know nothing about the Wittig side of the family. Perhaps you have some information to share. Since there are only 4 graves in that little cemetery, you must be related! See also the grave of her son, Peter, that I posted.

RE: re: Elwood ceemtery, Doniphan Co KS
Hi Laura...

Did the Clerk say what the name was or was it Elwood Cemetery?

I may call the Clerk when I get a chance and ask about it, and see if they can tell me anything more about it.

Thanks for the reply... I'll let you know what I find out.

Have a great day :)

Adam Mitchell
I see you request a photo of Adam Mitchell grave in Old City Cemetery. I have been there but I can not find a tombstone. Are you a descendant? I am from his brother John. I have a great deal of info on Adam. One document I have is so interesting and our family has done a great deal of research in NC and TN. We have a Mitchell reunion in Charleston on July 19-21st in conjunction with the Galbreath reunion. Please contact me, I will do more research about the tombstone. Ann
