Newton Young
I was wondering if you were related to George N. Young since you posted a pic of him and his obit. I'm trying to find some info on his brother Newton (also born in Catahoula Parish, LA). There is a Knute Young buried in Pine Grove Cemetery in LaSalle Parish (formerly part of Catahoula). I'm thinking this is the same person but someone spelled it wrong on the stone. There is no birth or death dates listed. The 1880 census lists Newton's birth date as 1865 but I was hoping you might have info on a death date. Any help appreciated. Thanks, Eva

Lula R. Payne
Dear BG, I was searching for an elusive ancestor, Lula R. Payne, and think I may have found her! I am surprised to find her in Texas, however, instead of Louisana, where her husband, David H. Mitchell is buried. I have her birth/death dates as 1874 and 1958, not exactly, but similar to what Find A Grave shows. My records show marriage date as 12/21/1892 to David. I think she may have also married an Albritton, although I am not sure of that or if it was before/after David. Can you corroborate these facts/dates? She would be on my mother's paternal line of Mitchells, making Lula my great grandother. Thank you, Jo Ann

RE: Bowers Family
Hi Brenda,

I am sorry for taking so long to reply. I have seen a mention of a Nathan Lent, who served as a constable (in the town of Thompson, I believe) in the late 1800's. I am not familiar with Mary Vernia Bowers, but there were several Mary Bowers in the Glen Wild/Rock Hill/Monticello area. One of them had a brother named Cassimer who died in Ridgeway after falling off the roof of a hotel he was working on. If you give me some approximate dates of when Mary and/or Nathaniel were born, I'd be happy to do some digging.

Kindest regards,
Vivian Piper

RE: John Christopher Young
From the obituary, it sounds like your George and my John are siblings, but I don't think they are. It is definitely confusing to me, too, because the only George Young in Palestine, TX is your great-grandfather- that I can see. I have no way of knowing where the info that George is his brother came from on the obit. If you can make the link, please let me know! I don't have the death cert., but I should order it once and for all. I have been researching your family a bit, and I'm wondering if your John C. died, because I don't see him after 1880. Does anyone in the family know anything about him??

RE: John Christopher Young
My information on John "Chris" Young comes from information I have obtained through the censuses. for some reason I have George listed as his brother on my tree, too. I don't have any info such as birthday birth place. I would be very interested in what your family has passed down about his parents. My grandma is a Young, but she was not close to these grandparents.
