Vickie, I would be happy too. I've been working on little things here and there over many years connecting family and their extended families. I'll see what I have.

Harriet
New Diggings, WI
Forgot to mention that my mom was from this area and I went to college near there. But I now live in Northern California. Went to WI to visit relatives, took some pictures at Shawnee cemetery not knowing if they were relatives, and researched them when I got home. Now I am hopelessly addicted to this stuff!

Miners in CO and WI
Hi Vicki,
The connection is that Southwest Wisconsin is an area where the lead miners from England (Swaledale) came back in the early 1800's. Many settled in New Diggings (Shawnee Cemetery) and Benton, Wisconsin and started mining for lead. But when the Gold Rush hit, many headed West. Some ended up in California, but others went to Colorado to mine silver. So the families I am tracing came from England originally, and some are my ancestors, but others I just am curious about.

Thanks, Vicki, for your additions I submitted for various memorials. Like you, I am trying to help others find their ancestors. My "adopted" cemetery is Shawnee Cemetery in New Diggings, Wisconsin. The old stones from the English pioneers, many miners from Swaledale, England, have a story.

Hi Vickie,

I took a picture of Maureen Finnegan's headstone. I hope it is your cousin. The birth date is off by one year!

Hi Vickie - I was able to identify Fred from censuses, and the fact that he is in the same cemetery block as his parents, otherwise, I don't have any special knowledge of him. - Bob

The memorial you mention above does not have any family links. Did you send me the right memorial number?

I didn't look for the headstone. I just looked in the online data. That name did not show up.

The cemetery is too big to just look for a name. It still might be there. There are 15 Falk's there but all over the cemetery.

Baby Stage
Hello, My parents had a baby in 1936 or early 1937 that didn't make it. I am wondering if this could be the one. Do you have any way of finding information on the parents of Baby Stage born in 1936 to 1936?
Thank you for your help.

RE: Earl White
Glad to hear you're still working away. I've slowed down quite a bit. I think I'm a little burned out. I went to Google maps and got a picture of what Market Street looks like. Everything is all modern buildings and skyscrapers, so I'm sure that Earl's 1933 residence is long gone. I don't even know why I thought it might still be there. It's smack in the middle of Denver and was probably demolished decades ago. Too bad. I like to see where people lived. My next hope is their historical society or library. I'm not well-versed in using these resources, so maybe they will take pity on me and help me find a photo of that area. Good luck in your searches. Take care!
