RE: Thomas J. Pickel
Yes the death records list shows Thomas J. Pickel died June 30, 1941 parents as Geo. & Ollie Pickel. I saw a list of people buried at Old Summerour Cemetery, the other Thomas T. Pickel has a headstone, one has no headstone. Just says Thomas Pickel. Could possibly be the one you are looking for.

On the Murray county deaths it has his parents as Geo. and Ollie Pickel.

RE: Anything New?
It seems that everyone from the Malcomb line that I've ever known has died, with the exception of my mother and her two sisters (these are Samual Guy Jr.'s kids). I DO have childhood pictures of my grandfather (S.G. Jr.) and his brothers (John and Hubert), which of course would be Howard Ford's nephews. That would be your link to my line, right?

John Malcomb and his sisters (Elizabeth and Ethel) had kids too (who had kids), but I've never known them. My mom may have met a few but they went their separate ways. Let me know if you'd like those scans just because they're rather interesting and I've offered you very little from my end.

Anything New?
Hi--Just wondering if you had anything new to report about our family line. Did reveal anything new?

Are You Still Around? Found Something.
Hi--This will be my last message to you unless you reply (sent a few follow up messages last year, but I didn't hear back). According to this document I found online, it says that John Leven Malcomb's father was Samuel Malcomb (born 1834). His mother was Nancy (Forrester). SAMUEL'S father was LEVEN (mother was Mary Davis) and you're right about Leven being from Maryland. However, it appears that between Leven and John L., there was a Samuel!

I found this information when I typed "John Leven Malcomb" into Google and clicked on "Jennings County, Indiana--Pictorial page 260"

What do you think?

RE: Camilla White Moore
Thanks so much! I was pleased to hear from you. Give your mom our love. I passed on your message to all my sibs.

Tom and Wanda have passed on. Tom died at 83 in 2006. Wanda died at almost 87 in 2013. They are both in National Cemetery in Chattanooga.

We are living all over the place. Anne and Susie are still in the Chattanooga area. I've kind of become the family historian, or at least they gave me all the stuff to sort.

RE: Sarah A
Sorry I do not have any records, just that I had seen it spelled "Lord" in different postings. Thanks

Sarah A "Lard" Gordon, Chickamauga Cemetery
Shouldn't her name read Sarah A. "Lord" Gordon?

Camilla White Moore
Camilla was my great grandmother. I am looking for the gravesite of her husband, my great grandfather Joseph Hamilton Moore. Camilla was his second wife. He married his first wife in 1866, so he was probably born in the 1840's. My grandfather, born in 1892, was his youngest child.

John L. Malcomb
Hi--In that 16 x 20 portrait of John L. you sent me, he seems somewhat younger than what he was in the family portrait. Any ideas on when that picture may have been taken? (1880's perhaps). If you have any other pictures of Howard Ford, your grandfather, or your father, that would be great! Just seeing the family resemblance through the generations would be so cool. When I look at John L., it is startling how much my grandfather looked like him! I wish I had more to offer from my end.

RE: Levin Malcomb
Wow--Mattie lived to be 101 years old. Gertrude and Robert Ford also enjoyed long lives. Interestingly, two of Howard Ford's kids (Gertrude and Robert Ford) married Forresters. Poor Dixie Howard... I wonder why he lived to only 27? I also noticed that it seems the Malcombs intertwined a lot with the Fowlkes over many generations. Ella Malcomb married a Fowlkes and my grandfather (Samuel Guy) married one (Ethel Fowlkes). Getting back to Mattie... Walter White, who married Mattie, his mother was named Latitia Fowlkes. Coincidence... probably not.

RE: Levin Malcomb
Hi--Wow, the final portrait you sent of John L. is an epic picture. I remember as a kid asking my grandfather about his dad (Samuel Guy) and all he used to tell me was that he "passed away many moons ago." Turns out my grandfather was about two years old when Samuel Guy died (1911), so he never really knew him. I have no idea what he died of, but take your pick back then. If you bump into any other pics, let me know. I'll do the same for you.

Mattie/Ella Connection
In regards to your other question regarding Mattie or Ella, I have no direct line to those ladies. By the way, interesting that John Levin Malcomb was living in the home of a Stribling (not Almeda) when he was sixteen. Could it be that, while there, he met Almeda, who was a relative of Uriah. I say relative instead of sister because Uriah is not listed as a child of Pleasant Stribling and Zerelda DeHoney like Almeda is. Also, would you say that the Malcomb family portrait was taken around 1890?

RE: Levin Malcomb
Hi--Yes, the spelling of Levin or Leven Malcomb seems to be used interchangeably when researching. I've also hit a brick wall with anything beyond him. Apparently John L. was the only child between him and Osbourne. I believe she remarried no long after. Anyway, here's my line:

Leven Malcomb
John Levin Malcomb
Samuel Guy (S.G.) Malcomb
Samuel Guy Malcomb Jr. (Although he never went by Jr.)
Susan Malcomb
Jason Jones (great, great, great grandson)

Would love for you to email me those pictures. That big portrait of John L. Malcomb must be grand! Can you imagine how many relatives from that clan we'll never know (that family portrait that included our great grandfathers looked to be seven kids total (between Almeda Stribling and John L.), right?

By the way, the name Stribling pops up a lot in my ancestry too. I'm curious to know more about that.

Levin Malcomb
Hi--I am Levin Malcomb's great, great grandson. Where did you find those pictures of his whole family? I wish those pictures were bigger so I could print out decent copies of them.

According to Tim Weatherspoon some teacher told her Weatherspoon students the correct way to spell it is Witherspoon. If you are kin to Jesse Ruffin Weathersoon you are kin to my Wife Sandra Jayne Savage Ruyle. Jesse is her 2nd Great Granduncle. She is Jesse's brother James E. Weatherspoon's 2nd Great Granddaughter. What is your line from Jesse?
