John H. Ferry # 73344181
Hello,
You very helpfully supplied Plot: Sec AA Lot 51 as the location of this grave in Crown Hill Cemetery in New Washington, Clark County, Indiana. His year of birth is listed as 1864 and date of death is unknown. There is no photo, so I'm guessing that there is likely no memorial stone. I believe this is my 3rd great uncle, son of John H. Ferry (1835-1908) and Elizabeth Ferry (1842-1910) who are both buried in the Old Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery, also in Clark County.

I have located a death record for this John Ferry's wife, Minnie Ferry from April 1931. It lists John as deceased. I'd like to pin down his death date a little more closely. I thought it would be a simple matter to look up a phone number for the Crown Hill Cemetery and get an internment date, but I'm unable to find a number. I'm reaching out to you in hope that you may know who I could contact for further information on burials at this cemetery.

RE: Emmanuel Cemetery
Gail, The county lines were redrawn years (over 50) ago and Emmanuel Cemetery and church now resides in Jackson Twp., Washington Co., IN. My great-great-great grandfather Frederick Racke (now spelled Rockey) deeded land for this church when it was started. My cousin has the papers. At that time it was in Wood Twp., Clark County, but for whatever reason, when the line was redrawn, the property is now in Washington County. Bill

I see that you have created a memorial for Mr. Shouse. You have him buried in Crown Hill Cemetery in Indiana. I have read his Courier-Journal obituary dated April 22, 1994. It states that his body was donated to the UL School of Medicine. Can you clarify this? Thanks!

RE: Goss I cemetery
According to the cemetery book, this cemetery is located in Section 6, on farm known as the old Allen Goss Farm.

We actually went to the cemetery but Richard Dixon took us there and we went to 40 different cemeteries on our trip to Indiana so can't tell you for sure. Richard could tell you.

Permission to use photos, please?
Hello. You have added photos to memorials of some of my family members. So far I have found the VanPelts in Eastern Cemetery in Jeffersonville. May I please have your permission to include your pictures in my family records? Credit for the source would be included, and copies would be for personal use, not for publication or posting elsewhere on the internet. Thank you very much!

I wish I lived closer! How far away would it be from central Iowa? Definitely wait for warmer/dryer weather! We are in the middle of an approaching snow/freezing rain winter storm. Spring is too far away!

RE: printy
Thank you, Gail, for the transfer of the Printy memorials. I am still working on the genealogy. I find that the most helpful entries in Find a Grave are ones that link to the memorials of other family members. Perhaps I can figure out how to do that?

Also, Gail, I want to thank you for everything you do to provide lasting memorials to our loved ones. These old cemeteries are all we have left of our Civil War veterans. Some are in such sad repair. Your work is important. Thank you.

RE: Samuel Callaway
Oh Gail, Thank you so much for the pictures of Samuel Calloways' grave marker. My sister and I were or are going to try and find the Coble Cemetery after Thanksgiving. I never expected that Samuels stone would still be there!!! A few questions. I have found Coble cemetery on a map...but, was it hard to get to? Any other stones? I think Samuels father and his wife Lucy are buried there too!! Any other suggestions?
My computer is not always reliable so if needed my email is martha.puckett1@gmail.com Thanks so much for all you do!!

Guernsey Cemetery
Hi, Gail.

The path to Guernsey cemetery is marked with a sign directly across the road from Mountain Grove Cemetery/AKA Blue Lick Cemetery in Memphis, Clark County, Indiana. However, you walk past the gate and take the path up to the top of the hill. It's about a mile hike into Clark State Forest. I did GPS, but there are no headstones and only some fieldstones. There is nothing readable up there. I was just there when I posted the picture for the cemetery back a few months ago.

Nancy Agnes Smith w/o H Smith
72902553 Nancy widow of H Smith.

Nancy Smith is my 4th Great Grandmother. I have been researching the family for over 30 years, and, quite unfortunately, have been lost in the mire for much of that time regarding this grandmother. However, though I know her husband has been referred to as H. Smith, I have never seen a document that referred to him as HARRY. He is merely listed as H. Smith in Baird's History of Clark County, Indiana. He died in 1785 outside of Cincinnati, Ohio. Thank you.

I look forward to seeing what you discover! I think I saved the Staples Cemetery in my saved-cemeteries. Can you paste the URL for me just to make sure I can find it again? Thanks! I sure wish I lived closer!
Thanks Gail. Warmly, Audrey
When I look over the memorials then I'll see what I have to add and think about the transfers. :-)

Gail,
Here are some more family members you can transfer to me. I can still remember going to the Turner Cemetery with my grandmother when I was a little boy back in the 60's and putting flowers on the Selmier graves.

Thanks

Safe journeys and thanks for the info.
