That's nice to know. Now I don't feel too bad. I'll work on changing mine over time. I don't think too many people will object since our intentions are to honor them.
I have worked with some military people on Find A Grave and they never brought it up either. I'm willing to bet that most people are not aware of that, and Find A Grave does give you the ability to enter those titles.
I did read some articles on this subject and some military people said that the only place anyone should see their rank after they left the service is on their tombstone. So we are not too far off base.

Hi- Thank-you for the additional info as I didn't find her second husband but have added that to her bio. I manually linked her to her parents who are buried next to her. Please look at the memorial and see if it looks correct to you. Thank-you for your help.

|Saboz||RE: Edmund Francis Pennings|
I didn't realize COL appeared instead of CPL. Sorry about that.
I wasn't aware that those titles can't be used once you leave the service. Lots of people do that on Find A Grave.
I did research this and you are correct. I then questioned the military markers. They show rank, but not before the name, it's always below the name. I never noticed that before. Interesting that nobody mentioned this because I do it all the time.
I don't know if Find A Grave has that in their instructions, but you should make them aware of how to correctly refer to military vets.
Thanks for enlightening me!

I sent you a link to the wrong spouse. You'll know it when you see it so please disregard. The spouse link was meant for Corydon's sister. Please let me know if this makes sense. Thanks!

I caught this late, but Marcia is not a half-sibling** or adopted by any means. Samuel and Maude (Maude is my 1st Cousin, my Grandfather Edgar's 'sister')TOOTHMAN - Haskins, actually had 15 children. Please, correct this, so there won't any confusion.
Thanks, and GOD Bless!

I noticed one small tiny typo mistake on Bette's memorial, her Birth year, you have 1129, it should be 1929.
Thanks, and GOD Bless!

Hi Barbara, I see the documents you've found and I'm wondering if you would still call the cemetery to confirm his plot location because there are no plot numbers like the one listed in either Leavenworth or Fort Leavenworth cemeteries. And there's always the possibility that the family had him buried somewhere else besides LNC or FLNC. Your thoughts? Mary Ann

You posted a Christopher Ausman memorial # 22082281 with dates 1785-1849. The cemetery records have a Christopher Armbrust 1785-1/22/1849 but nothing for a Christopher Ausman.
I believe we are speaking of the same person. Please correct your memorial.

Yes, Marylen married Millard's son from his first marriage, then a Dennis Wood, Richard Fisher, and at least 3 other men that I know of. She had a son named Walter Jaye Roe, one named Michael Wood, and then my mother who was a Fisher.

June died as a small child... she was hit by a coal truck. I was lucky enough to meet Bill (William) and his wife Jean before they passed.
My grandmother was/is Marylen Florence Gates (Due to a family rift, I'm not sure if she is still alive).

Jess and Lillian were my great grandparents. Lillian is buried with her second husband Millard Roe in Perris Valley Cemetery, Perris, California. Neither have headstones because there was a disagreement in the family and the insurance funds vanished.
