RE: Thank you
Dear Dave:

Yes! Peter Manson Jamieson is my Great-Great-Great-Great-Grandfather. His daughter Susan Elizabeth Jamieson married John E. Myers and had Florence Isabell "Belle" Myers, who was my Great-Great-Grandmother. If you want to and have time to, you might want to read a fascinating newspaper account on Find-A-Grave about Belle's 2nd husband, Willis Gorman Lentz. He was murdered by the couple next door.

You're welcome about Peter's sponsorship. (I sponsored Gorman's site, as well.) I'm doing HUGE genealogical research, and whenever I'm 100% sure about someone's ancestral connection to me, I bring them into my virtual cemetery. Then, I leave flowers or some other significant token at their gravesite and put a heart by their name so anyone searching for them can easily find them. I've done it a lot--almost 60 times already, starting with my beloved mother who died in 2005--but I do think it's well worth it.

Thanks for listening to me about my genealogy love. I hope you have a great (I was going to say evening, but I see it's after 1:00 a.m.--yikes!) . . . a great day tomorrow.

Kind regards,

Judy K. Roberts
wolf in Udell, Iowa
Did you by any chance have Catherine Wolf and her Husband in the Fairview Cemetery in Unionville, Iowa? I posted every headstone in the Fairview Cemetery, Udell, Iowa , and there was not any posted. Now there are two, the ones I did and the ones you did! Did you take the pictures posted to the memorial or did you take them from another site? Thank you for your time!

Tom Boyd
Old East Parish Burying Gound, Newton, MA
There is a list of people buried in this cemetery at ( This list includes the plot numberand birth and death dates, if known. The cemetery is very old and many of the tombstones are not very legible, so having the plot number helps quite a bit in locating the grave.

However, several of your photo requests are not included in this list (which is sanctioned by the Newton Historical Society and the Newton History Museum as authentic). If these people are buried in East Parish Burying Ground then there is probably no longer a marker. You could contact the Newton Historical Society who may be able to provide more information.

As it stands now, I think that it is unlikely that your photo requests for the following tombstones will be fulfilled:

Elizabeth Hammond
Isaac Hammond
Hannah Greenwood
Ann Hammond
Elizabeth Hammond
Thomas Hammond d. 1675

(Note that there are several graves for people with some of these same names in the cemetery, but with different birth and death dates.)

Your request for Thomas Hammond (b. 1630 d. 1678) may be the Thomas Hammond who settled in Newton in 1650 and is listed on The Settler's Monument. Unfortunately the location of his grave is unknown.

There is a book about the cemetery (does not include a complete map or listing of graves) that is available from the Newton History Museum for about $10. The book is "Where Newton Began, A Guide to the East Parish Burying Ground" by Thelma Fleishman, Newton Historical Society, 2007 ISBN: 0-9755019-0-9. You can find the Newton History Museum at

Hello, I plan on going down in the spring. I would be very interested in locating this cemetery & taking photo's for you. I also connect to Katherine Salyer Nickell. She & Alexander "Alex" would be my 3rd great grandparents. Their daughter, Mahala Angeline & her husband, George Washington Blanton would be my second great grandparents. I live in southern Ohio & try to get to Johnson Co. in the spring & fall. I will try to find this cemetery & let you know how it goes.

Hey there
I see I duplicated the photo. Would you like for me to remove mine?

I am suprised we didn't run into each other too!

Maybe one day all the local area gravers will get together, and do all of Steele Creek. That might be a fun spring project!

Hannah Sawyer
Where will you post the memoial? I have a photo also, if you need it.

I see the photo request is gone now.

I am not sure why it was in the wrong cemetery, but it does happen. I suppose there must have been a reason at first.

Mary Garrison Sawyer
I attempted to fulfill your photo request today, but it cannot be done. Mary Sawyer is not listed in any historical surveys, nor is there a headstone in Steele Creek Memorial Cemetery.

I did find the two Sawyer family members that are there. Hannah died 12/18/1785 age 26, and James who died 12/31/1788 age 46.

Sorry I could not be of more help.

Find A Grave contributor, GenealogyNavigator has fulfilled your photo request for William Pittman.
Thanks so much for getting the pic of the head-
stone for the memorial for William Pittman.
I was wondering if it is possible to get a pic
of Hannah Loker Pittman's headstone if there is
one. Or any of the other ones that you seem fit
in the cemetery. I really enjoy this type of
thing cause it leaves info for other people that
are looking for other family members. Also
something about the person besides. I want to
leave as many memorials as I can and pics before
I pass to leave a legacy to others. I also
have a family tree on Well anyway
have a good evening. Hope that Valentine's Day
was good to you. Sincerely, Sue
