RE: Tompkins graves
You are very welcome! I'm happy to help. I have 2 goals with this project: get info as accurate as possible and get memorials transferred to family members, and we accomplished both!
One more thing: noticed Albert & Everett don't have death dates. You may look at this (IA vital records link): https://iowaculture.gov/history/research/collections/vital-records
Scroll to the bottom where it says Death Record Indexes, choose Woodbury County and View PDF. It is a list of death certificates, and I believe they fall in the dates listed.
Let me know if there is anything else you need from me. Have a good weekend.

RE: Tompkins graves
Hi Gary ~ I think that's a great idea. I have no use for the memorials since I'm not related. I just want people to find their relatives! I'll add Ruth's photos to your memorial, and the Tompkins main plot stone to Norris' for you. You may want to note that no individual stone was found for him. Do you want to get the plot locations and interment dates onto yours before I delete mine?

Sorry I had to chalk those stones, I just couldn't get the information off of them without doing it. I am very careful, and do clean them thoroughly when I chalk them, so they were returned to their original condition.

BTW, Albert has a duplicate, too, but it is owned by 'Shiver', and we do not know if they are an active member because none of us have been able to get a response for a couple years. That one will probably have to stay as it is.

Norris Tompkins
Hi Gary ~ don't know if you've been contacted, but apparently we have a duplicate memorial for Norris (mine is #157377710). I'm not related, but added his name from the photo/directory volunteer transcription that I do. I guess by Monday, mine will be merged into yours (yours was created earlier), and I wanted to give you the data I had so you can evaluate it, and it doesn't get lost or confusing. By our records (I work at the cemetery), he is buried in the same lot with Bert, Ruth, Albert, Everett and Anna, if those names make sense to you. I have photographed that lot in Logan Park, and did not find a headstone for Norris, but I did for the others. I would presume the obit info is incorrect, as I've seen it before, fyi.
Let me know if you need anything from me!

The Shadow
Capt Francis Henry "Frank" Vercoe
Hi,

My name is Gord Burt and I'm a cousin of Captain Francis Henry Vercoe. Find A Grave Memorial# 60103284.

I'm related to him through the Aylesworth's of Ernestown. My great grandmother was an Aylesworth who grew up in Kingston, Ontario.

I saw you'd taken over the memorial of Francis at FindaGrave and I saw your bio that said you had information on people. I was wondering if you could share what you might have on Francis but also if you had a pic of him and hopefully one of Francis in his military uniform.

Thanks and I hope to hear from you soon!

Gord

PS your email above doesn't work.

RE: Bruce/Goodrich/Stenhouse family
Hi Gary,

Thank you for the quick reply. I have 2 questions....

1)There is a family history written by Diana Olson (Anna Amelia Goodrich Stenhouse's granddaughter) in 1932 that among other things talks about Anna Amelia being 5'4'' and of a dark complexion (this is similar to the photos I have too) and that her mother, Diana Bruce was Scotch (directly descended form the King of Bruce supposedly) and her father, David F Goodrich was half Scotch and half Oneida native american(she describes him as tall, dark with a ruddy complexion and black eyes).

I have searched trying to find proof of that Oneida link. The main evidence I have so far is the simple location of Anna's birth in Edmeston, which is the location of Ft. Stanwix (Oneida/Iroquois/settler outpost). Do you know anything more about this?

2) I did the 23andme.com DNA test and had no native American DNA (at least that they could find...I am a very distant relative to them! I did have less than 1% west African. Could it be that the complexion that Diana describes of David Goodrich was really African descent? I see Ruey Fairchild Goodrich was his mother and Tamar Summers was his grandmother...those seems to be unusual names and I am having trouble looking up much on them. Could either of them have been of African descent?

Trying to figure out this big piece of "lore" in our family about the native American descent!

Many thanks,
Lezah

Bruce/Goodrich/Stenhouse family
Hi Gary,
I am in the process of documenting my family ancestry and I noticed that you created many of the records of my distant relatives on findagrave.com. First, thank you. It's amazing to see grave stones and such great documentation of history!
Second, I am a Pagels by birth: daughter of Charles Pagels, granddaughter of Anna Amelia Olson Pagels, great granddaughter of Mary Anna Amelia Stenhouse Olson, great great granddaughter of Anna Amelia Goodrich Stenhouse, great great great granddaughter of Diana Bruce Goodrich, great great great great granddaughter of Mary Briggs Bruce.
I am planning on having the portion of the family tree that I know online soon. I was wondering if you know more of the family tree from this lineage and where you fit into it.
Many thanks for all your help,
Lezah

I had put in a request for a photo of her head stone. The volunteer told me he was unable to find one for her.

You had created the memorial. Was there a monument for her?

Westlawn-Hillcrest Vets
Edward Clayton Silk has a flag on his Find A Grave memorial, did he serve in the military? If so is he buried at Westlawn Hillcrest cemetery in Omaha NE? When checking with the cemetery office, they could not give us a location of his grave, do you have one?

We are currently working to identify anyone buried in Westlawn-Hillcrest Cemetery Omaha NE that has served in the military. If you have a loved one buried there or know of someone, please send us a message. We place flags on the graves for Memorial Day. This project is sponsored by Centennial Masonic Lodge #326.

If you can send us the names, we will be sure to include them on our list to get a flag.

Thank you for the help with this ongoing project.

Sturtevants
Hi-

I was wondering if you are related to the Margaret A Sturtevant buried in Prairie Flower and to Joel Benton Sturtevant buried in Kohlerlawn Cemetery? Also Rev Leon Robert Sturtevant and Iva Marie Sturtevant Olmsted also buried at Kohlerlawn Cemetery? If not, can they be transferred to me? If you are, we are distant cousins!

Oops!
Okay, you're going to think I'm crazy, I didn't read carefully enough, you only have one Lisle Williams (the correct one, I'm guessing.)

I will now write to the other memorial owner. Sorry about the mixup.

Lisle Morris Williams
Hi again Gary. I see that it is you who has Lisle Williams listed in two cemeteries - obviously a duplicate. His parents were Michael Williams and Anna Farrell Williams, who are buried in Calvary Cemetery in San Jose. Could you link whichever is the correct Lisle to his parents?

Thanks so much!

Lisle Williams
Hi! Thanks for adding this memorial. You have Lisle Williams in San Carlos Cemetery. Someone has created a memorial for him in Monterey City Cemetery, same guy, a photo of the same headstone. I am interested because I wanted to link him to his parents, who are buried in San Jose.

Could you check your records to make sure you have him in the right cemetery? I will write to the person who has the other memorial to ask the same thing.

Thank you for your time!

Hello
Hello Gary - Hope that your holidays went well
for you.
I got meet Bob last summer & gave him the
the "Warner's" dishes- It would of been so nice
when Stuart passed had my mother gotten the
Fiesta dishes from Ruth as those are the ones
that I really wanted & told her too before
they left. Oh well.....
We got together in the fall with Bob again &
gave him the rest of the dishes as I had left
some behind accidently. It was good seeing
him & his sister. Went to the diner to eat.

Everett L. Tompkins
Gary ~ working on Logan Park cem, Sioux City...I noticed we both have a Everett Lewellyn Tompkins, but with different death dates. I created mine from a headstone photo, & death date is 1930. I would presume with a unique name like that it is the same person. Let me know & I'll put my photos on yours and delete my memorial.

Happy New Year Gary
I do hope your holidays well for you &
your family. Our holidays were just okay.
I guess could of been better. All the boys
are gone now just got one left. Chris has
a civil service job & currently works for the
state & has been there now for a number of
years now. He owns 3 houses. I am so proud
of him! My youngest I wish that he would
follow his brother but...it is what it is.
I have tried countless times but...it falls
on deaf ears. I have been told I don't know
what I am talking about?
I will be 59 this January 14. Bob Dorsey
took the Warner dishes as I was so happy !
That were lovely. When Stuart passed away
I had told my mother that I wanted the Fiesta
dishes as Ruth had the whole entire collection
if different colors- I never got them left
got to see them. I really loved them! Oh well.
Take care - Gail

Hello & Happy Thanksgiving
Hello Gary

I finally over the summer to meet up with Bob D.
It was great to see and visit with him it's been many years
now. I was little when I last saw him and Aunt Dolores!
I gave him the Warner dishes. He was happy to get them!
I guess I have lost some in all my moving around!
I felt bad about that! It's very difficult to keep track of things
when your moving from one place to another!
May-be Bob can find replacement pieces to match.
I have someone looking for me.
I am happy that he is happy and he will have the many
fond memories of the Warner's having the dishes!
Gail
