RE: Josiah Allen

Here is what I have on John Wright Allen the son of Josiah Allen.

Birth: 17 Nov 1828 in McNairy, Tennessee, USA
Death: 18 Oct 1901 in Attie, Oregon, Missouri, USA
Married: Lydia Irvin on 12 Feb 1850 in Hamilton County Illinois. He was 21 and had the following children:

Mary Harriet Allen 1850 1914
William Henry Allen 1852 1955
Josiah Allen 1855 1933
John Lorn Allen 1858 1931
Millie Allen 1861 1904
Willis Alexander Allen 1866 1940
Charles Allen 1869 1870
Lydia (Irvin) Allen died in 1872.

Married: Louisa Susan Cooper in 1874 in Hamilton County, Illinois. He was 46, she was 28 and they had the following children:

Amy Elizabeth Allen 1874 1959
Lewis Wright Allen 1876 1905
Winnifred Susan Allen 1878 1965
Thomas Lawrence Allen 1880 1920
Alice Louisa Allen 1884 1905
Ella Gertrude Allen 1887 1977

My information about their wedding date came out of the 1900 Census records. I have heard of the 1863 marriage date but I don't believe that is accurate since Louisa Susan would have only been 17 at the time. In the 1870 Census she is shown as Louisa Susan Cooper living with her parents and in the 1880 Census she is shown as married to John W. Allen.

If you need anything else, let me know.

Good Question.....

I deleted him in the Arnold Cemetery. I have no idea how I came up with it.

Thanks for finding my error.

I have a gggrandmother buried there and took her a tombstone in July. I have taken a lot of pictures there, but I did not take one of the Dodge stone. I was going by the records. It is not the first one that has been wrong. Is his middle name Burcher? It sounds like their mistake in the records. If it is, I will gladly change the name from Pauline to Paul. Just let me know. Thanks

Lillie Tixer Zurick
Father was Miguel Tixier, his first wife was Efracia, the daughter of Jose M. Gonzales whom he married on October 23, 1895. Some time after Eufracia's death Miguel married Anna Walter, a German girl from Hays, Kansas. They reared a family of 10 children in Clayton of which only one daughter. Mrs. Lillie Tixier Zurick lives in Union County. Anna, affectionately known as "Mama Shay" divided her time between three daughters and two sons living in Albuquerque and the beautiful ranch home of her daughter, Lillie Zurick, which is 65 miles south of Clayton.
Extracted from the book "Not so Wild, The Old West" by Clara Harvey
The "Union County And Its People" Book also has the family of Jean Baptiste Tixier born 1835 in Pierre Roche, Montague France. married Antonia Dumrea 1863 had 14 children Miguel above one of them.
Can send to you if you think it will help.

Herman Weiland
J H Zurick 11939640
Possible husband of Liz and parents of a 1934 child J H was born 1869 and the books I have do not mention any reference to a wife Liz. His age would almost rule him out. Born 1869 married Rosa Lee Cotton in 1891. His son John W Zurich 1902-1990 married Lily/Lillie Tixier Zurich 1909-1993 and I'm about to think they are buried at their homestead 25 mi southwest of Stead NM
J. H. and Rosa Lee's other children were girls Katherine Smith (Tupper 104960105), Jessica 20436264 and Rosa Lee Smith (Ferol)

SSDI gives final payment for John W and Lily as Stead. I've quized Hass Funeral home for info but no reply as yet.
They may be in the Bueyeros cemetery.

John and Lily only had three girls Rozann, Rosa Lee (Mrs Sam Britt) and Johnie (Mrs Leon Labrier).

The Clayton High School had a John Zurick graduate in 1926 and I think he is the one married to Liz and the father of the child b 1934. The Clayton book does not have any reference to him.

I'm not related to the Zuricks, went to school with Rosa Lee Zurick.

It appears that this person does not fall into the four generations per say guidelines of Find A Grave, and like my bio says, all the others that do not fall into the four generations like the uncles, aunts, cousins and nephews I will work with you and add the info to the memorial. Again does not fall into the four generations of the Find A Grave guidelines.

Emma Cooke - Hayden Cemetery
I got your message Joan and will send a request for the three Cooke transfers.

Possibly the headstone that says A.A. Cooke may have been the original that Emma had placed for her husband when he passed. I have a newspaper notice for Emma's death in which Allen's sister and brother was mentioned. So, maybe they purchased the combined stone for Emma and Allen.

Thank you for your work on Find A Grave, it is much appreicated by many Joan.

I am in Clovis and it is a long trek for me to make it up there. If you take the time to take pictures then great. Just to let you know I reduced the size of my photos because they would not fit otherwise.
