Dessery
Hi, It seems you have quite a few of the Dessery name. I just wanted you to know I added Estelle Linton-Simpson today to find a grave.

Estelle (memorial #177748607) was the daughter of Josephine Laura Dessery- Linton (memorial #146105248).

You've done a fine job here...

Erica Lancaster
Rivard family in Iroquois county
Hi Norma! I've been doing extensive research to locate the parents of my 3rd great-grandmother for about 20 years. I came across your books about St. John the Baptist church in L'erable and the Find a Grave memorials you have posted and I think you may be the only one who can help me. As I am located out of state, I am not able to travel there and am having difficulty getting church records.

Would you be available and willing to lend your expertise to help me? I hate to impose on you, but you are the resident expert on the area and I fear that I will never be able to continue my matrilineal line without your assistance.

Gratefully yours,
Erica Lancaster

Robert Emmett Walsh
Hello Norma. I see that you have mistakenly added two photos of Robert Emmett "Judge" Walsh to the memorial page for his father, the elder Robert Emmett Walsh--a photo of Judge's face, and a photo of his new grave marker.

Would you kindly move those to Judge Walsh's memorial?

And thanks so much for submitting a photo of the new stone that our family has installed!

RE: Auguste Marie Henriette Gierke
Dear Norma,

My great-grandmother Augusta GEHRKE Scheefeldt was born in Germany September 1853 according to a 1900 census of Seward Township in Kendall County Illinois. She was 47 and her hubby, Carl Scheefeldt, /incorrectly picked up as Shefeld/, was 46.

You should be able to access the 1900 census for yourself. If not, then, you can use your public library to access that and other documents you need for FREE. Just ask the librarian to assist you in using their printer.

PLS let me know if you think we may have a common family link so until then, 'Happy Hunting' and hope to hear news from you about a hit!

Happily,
Patti Dagdigian

P.S. Just heard that Dr. Oz is a distant relative of Albert Einstein, George Clooney, and (UGH!!!) Jeffrey Dammer!

RE: Auguste Marie Henriette Gierke
Hi Norma,

Thanks to Yorkville's County Clerk's Offices online death certificate request form, we should have dob & other information about Augusta's background within a month. I opted for the non-certified copy. Hope it's the same document except for missing certification stamp.

Can't wait to see her correct birthdate; will her parents names both be there? Gehrke/Gierke/Jehrke spelling? Will it show her city of birth? Hope its very detailed. I'll send you your copy ASAP.

Best Regards to you Norma; Happy Hunting!

Patti
[Augusta would be my mother, Dorothy Scheefeldt's grandmother]. Mom's dad's dad's mom is Augusta.

RE: duplicated sites
yes it happens but i have been going thru alot of my stuff eliminating dupes and so forth. i have also been entering about 300-500 obits a week for already existing sites and as i run across the dupes i notify whoever about them and also let Find A Grave know about them. i seem to be updating alot of leona and lymans sites, been correcting the dates, names, and adding obits to them. if you haven't noticed i only have about 1000 photos to go. i just loaded 200 last week.

RE: What have you done???
When memorials require edits and the manager is unresponsive to edit requests, the corrections should be sent to edit@findagrave.com and the administrators will make them. If the manager is inactive, you can request that the memorials be transferred to you, which it appears you have done. It is only fair, though, to then update those memorials and not enter duplicates. Find A Grave does not want duplicates. I understand your frustration with unanswered edit requests, but the best thing to do is send the corrections and updates to edit@findagrave.com I sent requests for deletion of quite a few duplicates to you. I know there are more and I hope you will consider deleting all the duplicates. I'm not going to send requests for any more of them, as I really would rather put my attention and energies elsewhere. Thank you for all your work on Find A Grave--you have done a lot!

RE: What have you done???
You had 24 memorials in Clifton cemetery transferred to you by Jennifer Bauer. I had sent an edit request for one and after notification that my request had been processed, I attempted to check the correction. However, I found that ALL info had been deleted from that memorial, and the name changed to, "unknown." I then found that you had 24 such memorials, which were originally entered by Jennifer, transferred to you, and then changed to unknown. I did not check every one, but you had made duplicates, of at least a couple, which could be determined by photos that were not deleted on the unknown memorials. It seems strange to me that you are unaware of this. I notified admin and requested that they ckeck out the issue. It now appears that the original memorials have been restored, except for two. So, I have no explanation, but It would seem difficult to attribute this to a system glitch. No matter now, as it has been remedied. I will ask the admins to restore the remaining two "unknown" memorials and all will be right. Thank you for responding to my message!
