RE: Henry Francis Floyd
I apologize for the long delay, I have never checked my messages. I obtained the death of Henry Francis Floyd as 16 Dec 1829 by the 3 applications for Membership for US Sons of the American Revolution 4th great grandsons Charles Duffy Floyd 1885-1966, Arthur James Thompson 1874-1970 & 5th great grandson William David Floyd 1924-1979. I also found on the US Pension Roll of 1835 they have the date of death for Henry Francis Floyd as the 16th Dec 1829. Henry Francis Floyd is my 5th great grandfather on my father's maternal side. I am far removed from the area, I am Canadian and live in Victoria, British Columbia. One day I would love to visit West Virginia. Again, I apologize for the 2+ year delay. Lise

Daniel Stephen Gross
I have left a unique request. You took original photo of Daniel Stephen Gross' stone. (Infant) his mother and I are good friends, Tonight she is grieving this loss of 40 yrs ago. Could you take another photo, perhaps with a flower or stone so i can surprise her? It would mean a lot to know someone prayed over her and Alan's son. She never got to hold him. Annette is a wonderful mother to another son, and strong PFLAG mother who is a mother to many, July 12 is the date she delivered and lost him. Please and thank you if you can do this mitsvah

Good morning~

You had fulfilled a photo request for me on Karl Hammil #24378884. I noticed on the edge of the photo there is another headstone with a name starting with a C. I am having some confusion with the spouses of this person and was wondering if you happen to have a picture of the headstone next to him. I would greatly appreciate it.

Secretus & Savanna Fluharty
Thank You So much for sharing the pictures and the extra information about my Great, Great Grandparents. My parents & I visited this cemetery in the 90's and I didn't get pictures. Trying to find information on Savanna is next to impossible online also. Their Daughter Guila Fluharty Jones is my Great Grandmother . I only met her once (early 70's) and she asked me to call her "Ola"
Thank You Again, keep up the great work.

RE: Photo of my Grandfather
Hi Michele: I know we are related through Henry Elias Shuman and John Lacy Shuman and just curious about where your branch of Shumans lived and if there are still relatives in West Virginia. I assumed that you must live there since you take pictures of gravesites and markers there. I grew up in West Virginia and loved roaming around the hills with my parents visiting relatives but since my grandfather Henry Elias died at such a young age we had very little contact with the Shuman side of the family. My Dad seemed to think that his father had a sister named Julie who with her husband founded a Boys Academy (school) but in researching the family have not located anyone with that name. Have you or your relatives any info that would relate to this?
Also notice that you and I are probably not in the same age group since Henry Elias Shuman's brother is your great grandfather. happy to have you as a friend. Eleanor Shuman Williams

Michele: The Mary listed as an offspring isn't true. I think it must have been meant as a spouse. My grandmother's name was Mary.

RE: Photo of my Grandfather
I'm not sure which Mary you are referring to, but my Grandfather Henry Elias Shuman and Mary Elizabeth Geldbach had only three children: Henry Elias Shuman (Jr) Expired at birth, Emery Loyd Shuman (my father) and Earl Opal Shuman his brother. There are a lot of Marys in a lot of generations. I'll try to find your Mary if you give me more info. The site you refered me to is the Eclectic Artist who has a lot of info on the Shumans but I don't think he proved a lot of the info with facts. Let me hear from you. Are you on Ancestry.com? There is a lot of info there with record etc. to prove what is offered. Eleanor

RE: Photo of my Grandfather
Hi Michele: Thanks for the quick response. Any info I can get about my Grandfather Elias Shuman is appreciated. I had hoped to find more about where he was buried, but have been searching for several years now. Supposedly he was buried in the Barrackville cemetery where my Grandmother was buried, but it must be without a marker. He died so young with Typhoid fever, that my Father barely remembered him since he was only six and Dad's brother Earl was four. Now having your info helps make Elias more vivid.

It's nice to have another relative on the Shuman side. Eleanor

Photo of my Grandfather
Michele: Imagine my shock and surprise when I went to my Grandfather's site from his sibling name for Martha Shuman. I'm sure it is the same photo I have which must have been made from the one you have. My father is Emery Loyd Shuman son of Henry Elias Shuman and we often talk about how much my Dad and some of my brother's resembled Henry Elias. I notice that henry's wife's last name is spelled Gilderbaugh and may be in a marriage license, but she was a Geldbach whose family was from Barracksville. How are you and I related ? We must be if you have the picture shown. Please let me know. Thanks.
Eleanor

Michele, I was recently able to take photos of your Shuman family headstone at the New Cumberland Cemetery. Your cousin Joan Shuman Crago doesn't have a marker yet, but I photographed what her husband has on her plot.

I actually also have conflicting death dates from Ancestry.com, and find a grave, so I'm researching, too. Will see what I can find as a source.

Henry Francis Floyd's son Henry Troutman Floyd married Nancy Cunningham, my 4th great grandother. Their daughter Rachael Floyd, married Charles A. Kerns, my 3rd great grandfather. Their son John Henry Kerns was my 2nd great grandfather. John Henry Kerns' son Thomas Newton Kerns was my great grandfather. His daughter Alice Merrel Kerns married Thomas Edward Higgins. Their son Donald Gene Higgins was my father. Donald married Marjorie Mae Baillie, my mother. Hope this wasn't too long winded!

Hi Michele, your 2 Shuman family members have been transferred to you as requested. When the weather becomes a little (a lot) nicer, I'll be back out taking headstone and marker photos again. Have a great evening!
