It was my pleasure to find and photograph their headstone. On a different note, the research into my wife's ancestors has taken me to a William H. Proctor (1822, KY -1905, IN)who married (1) Elizabeth ? in 1846, and (2) Lucrecia J. Ford in 1888; John Ford was her first husband. Any connection to your Proctors?

RE: Price
Hi, thanks for contacting me. There are two cemeteries, Price Cemetery in the Cascade community which has 3 interments. There is another one call the Price Farthing Cemetery near Chatham which has 11 interments. I recently found out that the land I own was once owned by the Prices. My great grandfather William Herndon and his brother George Prentice Herndon purchased the land from the Price family around the 1880's. There is a cemetery on the farm with 14 interments of which my great grandfather and great grandmother are buried, William W. Herndon and Lavenia Wilson Stowe Herndon. The rest of the graves are only marked with rocks. My grandfather told me there is a lady buried there named Mary Price who was a midwife. I do know the location of her grave. When I recorded the cemetery I named it the Herndon Family cemetery, so the cemetery could have been started by the Price family.

Casper Jacob Fella (1846-1929)
I didn't quite finish what I intended to include in previous message. Casper Jacob Fella, and likely the one who is 13 on 1860 census with John/Mary Fella family, is buried in Cloverport Cemetery, Breckenridge Co., KY. His 3rd wife Lillie is linked to him, but her memorial is not yet connected to a cemetery. There is more information on Casper Jacob's memorial, but the claim that he is a child of John/Mary Mathey Fella is questionable. The information at the bottom of his memorial's biography lists his parents' names from his marriage record. I am only guessing that John Fella (first husband of Mary Mathey) may have been a relative who took Casper Jacob in, after his parents died.

By the way, I have not found official information that confirms the John Fella (1827-1864) with wife Mary, has the middle initial "C," but that initial is used in family trees.

John C. Fella (1865-1940) who married Julia Heichelbech is a son of Casper Fella, Jr. (1832-1893), and of course grandson of Casper Fella, Sr. (1796-1877), according to my findings; his middle initial "C" is on his gravestone. Please let me know if you have questions about what I've written.

Fella Family
I think I can appreciate how confusing the Fellas are to you, as they are also to me. I am only a very distant relative-of-a-relative, but have been trying to untangle what I can. Thirteen yr. old Casper on the 1860 census is listed last in the order of the John/Mary Fella family, and that is one reason why I think he is not their natural child. Then, on Casper's 2nd marriage to Margaret Racine Busch, Casper's parents are listed with names different from John/Mary Fella on the 1860 census.

Regarding John Fella, married to Mary Celina Mathey Fella Pate: John is buried in Old Frenchtown Cemetery, Harrison Co., IN, where his wife and her last husband Joseph Pate are buried. I'm slowly working with each person with same/similar given names by using their birth/death dates to keep them straight.

I've worked a little on Casper, Sr. and Casper, Jr. Fella (NOT connected to Casper J. Fella). I do know that Casper, Jr.'s wife was Barbara Metz, John C.'s wife was Julia Heichelbech (all have been submitted for links on That may be as far as I can go, but maybe you can take it further. Thanks for your work.

John C. Fella
I, too, am curious about John (?C.) Fella, and wondered about the 1860 census saying he was born in Brazil. No other information supports this, so I wonder if this is a census worker's failed attempt to spell Bayern (Bavaria, Germany)? Other records say birth in Germany. I have done some research on Casper Jacob Fella (1847-1929), which shows up as a 13 yr. old in this John/Mary Fella family on the 1860 census. This Casper, so far, seems to have been taken in by this family after his parents died (mother in Germany and father in New Orleans, according to an family tree, and parents names on Casper's marriage record to 2nd wife Margaret Racine Busch (a very distant relative-of-a-relative to me). I'm offering this to you in case it fits anywhere.

RE: Pinaire & Frenchtown

I have many photos of the graves in the old Frenchtown cemetery as well as from the cemetery next to St Bernard's Church in town. I also have some portraits of several early settlers. I don't know exactly how to send the information to you. It would be easier to use regular email. What do you think?

Frank Pate
I have been researching my Martindale family and find that Estella Balcom, Daughter of Charles E Balcom and Mary Baker Balcom, was born 16 Jan 1870 in Waterloo, Black Hawk, Iowa. She married 3 times. 1st to Albert Martindale,4 May 1899, in Linn Iowa. Albert died 1911. 2nd to Edwin Meyers before 1915 as she is listed Estella Meyers in 1915 Iowa census. Estella and Edwin Meyers were living in Chicago, Ill., where Edwin died 23 Jan 1923. She returned to Iowa and married Frank Pate, 18 Sep 1924,in Waterloo. They apparently divorced as that is how Frank Pate is listed in 1940 census. Although Estella is not directly related to you, this fills in who she was. Judy Clements

My maternal Gross family and my husband's line Binkley go back as very close friends for generations .

And then come the times I have found marriages between our lines .

Research has been a work, joy and pleasure to me over 40 years now..

Nice to meet you . Would love to share Binkley lines with you.

Have a question.
Someone posted a duplicate memorial for this cousin # 72999622.

They are now inactive , so I can't make any changes .

Are you able to contact Find a Grave and ask for it's removal ?

They have a good picture of his military headstone on this other memorial.

Would you be given permission to post on yours ?

Just asking
