RE: Mary
By the way. Benjamin Bolling is my 5th gr-grandfather. Jesse Bolling Sr. is my 4th gr-grandfather. My great grandmother Theodosha was also a Bolling (related to Benjamin and Jesse) who married my great grandfather Samuel Barger Jr. My mother was born and raised in Hazard, Perry County. Abraham Barger was my 5th great grandfather and married Jesse Bolling's daughter Mary "Polly" Bolling. The area and town was named in error. No records shoe there was any Bowling as part of the original 50 settlers and co-founders of Bowlington. Even Bowling Green Kentucky was named in error. They got the name from a statue in a New York park, Bolin. But somehow it was twisted to Bowling. It's all a mystery, but it's also incorrect. Perpetuating erroneous spellings of surnames only serves to continue the confusion. I won't put someone in my tree until I gather the truth as best I can. So this line for my tree is BOLLING all the way.

RE: Mary
It's really not that simple, but I know what you mean.

I took this anomaly on and pursued it to the only conclusion in this case. The Bolling/Boling/Bowling) lineage is extensively documented.

It was originally spelled Bollyng and later changed to the Middle English form: Bolling in the 1500's.

No matter how anyone spelled their own name, assuming they could read and write, the origin of the name supersedes the "X" marks the spot or misspellings by census takers and other clerks. But Bolling is absolutely the proper spelling for this line, if anyone is interested in facts.

Even your confusion is due to misinformation. What else could you do under the circumstances? Can't blame you. I just reach out when I see the traditional and actual surname spelled incorrectly, even if it WAS done by one of the family. Like I said, The origin of the name takes precedents over all the variants and deviations.

Cheryl Casey
Polly
Hi Eileen, I'm in Eastland County Texas. I had stumbled upon the Casey Family Association (cfainusa.org) a few years ago while researching the family tree. They try to map descendants of Abner Brooks Casey and his brother Peter. Here's how mine goes... me < Thomas W. Casey < Uriah "Frank" Casey < Wesley Byron Casey < Uriah "Buck" Casey < Thomas Jefferson Casey < Uriah Casey < Aaron (and Polly) Casey < Jesse Casey < Abner Brooks Casey < John Casey. Abner and his brother came to America about 1720 and all of his sons and grandsons (who were old enough) fought in the Revolutionary War. Abner was too old by then.

Since you're a Casey descendant, you're also a distant cousin to Mark Twain (Samuel Langhorne Clemens). He was also descended from Abner.

Elizabeth Wallbern Tucker
Elizabeth Wallbern Tucker is the second wife of John Tucker. Is there a grave for his first wife, Margaret Stansell Tucker?

I could not request a photo of Elizabeth's grave because there was already such a request. Is it possible to get a photo?

RE: Thank you!
Try this...I've added a link to the obit I posted on the original memorial that makes Shara's name a live link that will take you to her memorial. Copy and paste this obit to Kristen's memorial and it should work. Paste it below the original obit until you test it and see if it works correctly and if it does you can then delete the original one. If it doesn't work, let me know and I'll fix it.

Copy and paste the following:

Benjamin Bolling Mounument
I just came from a funeral service at the Baker Funeral Home and this cemetery is located right behind the parking lot. Could not find this monument. Guess I will go back again for the funeral procession and I will look again.

This memorial is in the wrong cemetery. This cemetery is located in Pound, behind Jerry Baker's funeral home. This memorial needs to be in the Bolling/Flat Gap Cemetery.

RE: Benjamin Bolling
I have been to the cemetery that is listed as Flat Gap Cemetery where Benjamin Bolling is buried. I have always heard that it was called the Benjamin Bolling Cemetery. Will find out and let you know for sure. The Bolling that is listed on findagrave is in Pound behind Jerry Baker's funeral home.
