Find A Grave request
Hello. Will you please link Charles Lee Hartsell, 33807507, to his parents? They are Robert Lee Hartsell, 16753085, and Bessie Jeanette Boger Hartsell, 16753094.

RE: Strobel Hannay
I made the corrections and added your sources - so this should help anybody looking at his record. By the way, I can't link to his son, Bernard since ownership is with someone else. You would need to ask that person to do the link - I noticed also that she has a duplicate record of Bernard.

RE: Strobel Hannay
OK, this is good news - so I changed death date and then recalculated his birthday based on 74-5-1 (which is what you provided to me earlier) - this makes his birthdate 9/2/1874 and is what I now show on his record.

Strobel Hannay
Way back I used to accept people's additional info without noting on the record this info so I have no way to know who provided his birth and death date. Based on the info you provided and using my calendar date calculator, yes it does put his birth date at 1874. I've made the change. Also, since I don't know where the death date is from I changed it to what you emailed me and have also noted this on his record.

If you do a search by name, you'll see the other memorial - I don't know if these are duplicate cemeteries, but there is an earlier memorial for her.

Thanks Erin. Yes, those stones are in really bad shape and were defaced many years ago, sadly.

Thanks so much for your help!

RE: Shelby-Alexander
Thank you VERY much for the use of your pictures! Some people get really upset about that and won't let people use them! I put people on here and that people doing genealogy CAN find their ancestors and USE their headstones :-) Thanks and have a MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Hi, May I use the pictures of the headstones for Col. Adam Alexander and Mary Shelby Alexander on my tree. Mary Shelby is a GGGG aunt of mine through my grandmother Martha Shelby. They are buried in Rocky Spring Meeting House Burial Ground in Mecklenburg, NC

Thank Erin,

The stones are very difficult to read. I just am not sure, but go by there again since I live so close and try to do a rubbing of the bottom of the stone. Sometimes that is easier to read than looking with the naked eye. The survey date you mentioned was before the vandalism which occured at the cemetery, so at that time the inscription may have been legible. Based on my family Bible, and since I can't find her buried anywhere else. I wonder if she is the wife of Andrew Jackson [A.J.] Boon, since they are buried near each other. I'll look at that survey and try to talk to one of the local historians I know, so we can solve this mystery!

Thanks for writing back and for all of your hard work!

Elizabeth A. Boon
Hi Erin,

I am researching my ancestry, and have Boon ancestors in Brown's Chapel Cemetery on Davis Street, Burlington, North Carolina.

I notice that you have an Elizabeth A. Boon as wife of Daniel Boon. But from my records, it looks as if she may actually have been married to A.J. [Andrew Jackson Boon] who is also buried in this same cemetery.

I live 1/2 mile from the cemetery. My great grandfather is buried there and my grandfather was the caretaker of this historic cemetery in the 1980's. I am wondering if you saw that inscription on the stone about Daniel Boon being her spouse. The stone are extremely difficult to read. I may do some rubbings to try to get a better read on them, and I do think that the famous Daniel Boon's nephew was buried there.

For now, I am trying to determine if this is the right Elizabeth in my tree. I am working from very old family Bibles. Thank you!

Leona Yarrington
I tried to find Leona Yarringtons grave today but had no luck. I can tell you she is buried at White Chapel Memory Gardens in the section called Masonic gardens Plot 85A. The wind was very cold today and will try it on a warmer day.

Brown's Chapel
I was hunting for the entry that I had to change from something else to Brown's (whatever).

Anyway, I've discovered that Brown's Wesleyan Church is the one I had to put the person in back in the early 2000's.

It has a Gibsonville address, but I have no idea if this is the same thing as where John Rankin Loye, etc. is supposed to be.

So, for now that one is a mystery.

Robert C. Peurifoy
Thanks ever so much for the photo. Wish my Mom still had a photo album of all the family. They mostly disappeared with the deaths of my grandparents.
I don't know who the other Thomas couple is, but will someday try to find out. From the dates the two men may be brothers.

I plan on going out on Wednesday due to all of the rain we have had lately. I'm looking forward to seeing the old cemetery, 2nd site, not the 1st site. The current church has two cemeteries on property that I also plan to visit. There are many on my list to do next week since the weather is cooperating. Help may be welcome. Dianne
