|Russell Fields||Wilbur Thompson headstone/marker|
Hello, I tried for many years to find out what happened to "Wilburn" Thompson. He is my maternal second great grandfather. All we knew was his wife, Charlotte Segars Thompson drew a widow's pension, and said Wilburn was captured and wounded at the battle of Dalton, GA., and taken to the state of Indiana, and never heard from again. My great grandmother, Nancy Thompson Shirley was four months old when her father died at Camp Morton. I found a record at the Georgia Archives that said he was buried at Green Lawn Cemetery in Indianapolis? Your posting shows him buried at Crown Hill? I would greatly appreciate a photo of the grave, and any information about where he is buried. Thank You for your contributions>

Trish, thanks so much for the transfer of this memorial. A note on it said you would take closeup if requested. If you would do that for me it would thrill me and certainly the family members I am doing research for. Thanks again.

Thanks for the heads up on the cemetery difference...the article I read gives her burial at Crown Hill??? Is there a memorial for her at the other cemetery? If there is and there is proof of that burial then I'll change it :)

I was doing a search in the CoonHill cemetery located in Santa Rosa county, Fl one spring afternoon. Laying on the concrete slab was a six ft diamondback. Stretched out enjoying the warm slab.

|Hazel Mote Carpenter||Pvt. George Washington Key|
Appreciate your offer to photograph a memorial (if one exists) for the CSA Confederate POWs interred at Crown Hill. I am a descendant. Pvt. Key (he was also a Doctor) was captured at Courtland, Alabama, on 29 June, 1864, and was relocated to Camp Morton, where he died on 7 July 1865. If only a mass grave exists for these brave souls, perhaps he is memorialized there. If you can locate anything for him, please forward a photo to me at:
His Find A Grave Memorial #: 14736069
I really appreciate anything you can do.

Instead of constantly pestering you, unless you are related to anyone in the Bridgford cemetery, you might save us both time if you just transferred all of them to us. Everyone in here is my wife's family and their spouses.
